Transform with negative numbers
It has become a real frustration when using Illustrator that I can't use negative numbers for the Transform/Move... tool or for the Transform effect. It seems like such a simple thing that I'm surprised it has not been added yet. Please address this in an upcoming update. Thank you.

Blur object background
I'd like to see a blur option where objects behind an object appear blurred such as in the attachment. This is something that, I believe, can be achieved in CSS so it would be good to have the ability to use such an effect in Illustrator.

Interaction in graphic styles, with several inputs
Graphic styles is only something you apply. I would like some interactions possibilities with the graphic styles, so that you for example could get an interactions panel that told you what kind of interactions you could do (insert photo/graphic/text etc). And that when you clicked on each possible interaction in the panel, then a pin, marked box or something would highlight in the graphic where the input would take place. Like many web images have, with hot spots. Would be one way to do it. The important thing is not how it is done, but that you get to have…

Relative placement shapes in appearance panel
When you use shapes in appearance panel and save to reuse, then the look you get is depending on the text you type in as these shapes move in relation to the text. If I want to have a square that does not move with the text but at the beginning of text, no matter how long text, then that is impossible. Would be great with more options and fix regarding all this with shapes in appearance panel.

Add custom shape/image in appearance panel
Now one only can add rectangle/circle shape in apperance panel. It would be very useful to be able to add custom shape/image/symbol there also.

Drag & Drop Appearance
Hi,
Currently, moving individual "Appearance" between objects is a difficult route:
1. Select the object. Deselect the object.
2. Display the "Appearance" palette
3. Delete unnecessary "Appearance"
4. create a style. with the right Apperance
5. Select the object.
6. ALT + Click on the style to add a new Appearance to the existing Appearance of the object.Whew ....
Can you not create the ability to drag the Appearance?
It would be great and so much more time during work.
Best Regards

Grayscale as an Effect
I would like to be able to apply a non-destructive "Convert to Grayscale" Effect to Objects, Groups or Layers.

Rasterize effect of bitmap is too simple
Please add some other algorithm in rasterize effect of bitmap.
in Photoshop we have pattern dither, Diffusion dither, halftone screen, custom pattern Or in Corel Photo Paint we have line art, Ordered , Jarvis, Stuki , floyd-steinberg, halfton, cardinality distribution But in illustrater we have only one algorithm.
also please able us to choose color of rastered pixels. it is very important because some times graphists add this effect to gradient or mesh gradient but they like another color instead of black color and transparent instead of white262 votes -
Live effects
I hate drawing comparisons between applications because I believe it's utterly unfair in most cases. This is not one of those cases. I believe wholeheartedly that we've reached a stage of computing where we can get rid of the "Preview" button in the effects panels. Let's do it. I've not seen a solid step forward in how effects are created, previewed, edited, and handled since I began using Adobe apps in CS4. Affinity is doing this. And it's buttery smooth. And I'm both jealous and confused that Adobe doesn't have this. It's the sort of thing that you remain blissfully…

Can't select and edit two effects from two separate fills in single appearance
I can't select two effects, applied to different fills in one appearance — AI restricts to select both of them. Therefore, if I have same effect applied to all of my object's fills, I have to edit EACH of them one by one, instead of just Ctrl+click all of them and edit at once.
It means that if I want to change Drop shadow's parameters, scattered across different appearances, no graphic style won't help me. And I already mentioned in separate enquiry that Drop shadow and other color-based effects ignore global swatches.
This is nuts. I waste so much time.14 votes -
Long / Block Shadow effect
the addition of the "long shadow" effect, which is popular in recent times, will greatly benefit the user.

Drop shadow distribution curves
Right now shadow is just blurred silhouette.
Please add option to tweak it's distribution, as PS does ('profiles').15 votes -
Easier way to set color for drop shadows
Right now when you need to change Drop Shadow's color, you have to click effect in Appearance palette, then click color and only then choose color.
But when you have a LOT of shadows — you are screwed (because Drop Shadows can't use global swatches: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/34789156-drop-shadow-can-t-use-global-color-swatches).
You have to click EACH shadow and change it.
Not effective. Why not to make shadow's color appear in Appearance the same way as fill does?
It will also allow to change color of multiple shadows for one object at once (yeah, I have to layer shadows, because AI doesn't allow to tweak…

procedural textures for fills
It would be nice if there was a procedural texture fill available. Something like coreldraw has, but completely procedural so that file size doesn't bloat. The more parameters the better so we could create many varying textures/colors/patterns/etc.

glow
the glow selection effect to be able to have some form of HARD line which is what I think most of us want to be able to put around a photo clipping so that the background and the product photo can live together. so basic a stroke setting

Attach Symbol Effect
Adding a new Effect to Attach a Symbol would heavily simplify the creation of Appearances (Graphic Styles) like the one in my Screenshot.
Of course a Reference Point and Liquid constraints like in InDesign would be amazing.
And that will open all new horizons of possibilities!

Enhancing the Convert to Shape Effects
The Rectangle, Eplise and Polygon tools had been updated with dynamic properties in CC 2014.
That will be huge to have these properties added to the "Convert to Shape" Effect and to add the Polygon and Star tools to the "Convert to Shape" list.
It will allow more Advanced Appearances and Graphic Styles.

Allow to rename attributes and make folders in Appearance Panel
Appearance are the most powerful feature of Illustrator, but the learning curve is difficult and for Advanced User it's difficult to manage and remember what are doing what in a Complex Appearance (cf. Screenshot where I had to use Colors to identify properties…)
Adding features like:
– Renaming (fill, stroke and effects)
– Folders (like in Ps: "Pass Trough" blend mode, knockout, vector mask based on "Convert to shape" with 9 points proxy…)It will be more easier to understand Complex Appearance samples and for Advanced users, it will be way more efficient.
