A hotkey to make the Transform tool only transform fill patterns.
When dragging with the selection or direct selection tools, or using the rotate, and scale tools to transform an object, you can hold down ~ to only transform its pattern fill. But the free transform tool doesn’t do this. Can we get it to do this?
(As with the rotate, scale, and selection tools, holding down the other modifier keys whole holding down ~ should act as they normally do with the Transform tool.)
There is a ‘transform pattern only’ option in the free transform panel’s menu, but that’s a lot of clicks far away from the thing you’re actively…

Assignable keyboard shortcuts for EVERYTHING.
In the 'keyboard shortcuts' dialogue, I would like to have a section that contains the flyout menu items and buttons of every palette.
Ideally this would be automatically populated when a palette is created, so that palettes created by 3rd-party plugins would be able to take advantage of this without a new version.
Currently there is an 'other panels' section in the assignable menu commands that lets you assign keystrokes to ten seemingly-arbitrary palette menu items. I'd love to see a ton more choices there. No need for default shortcuts; this is a way for power users to pick exactly…

'Tab' and 'Shift-Tab' to navigate when renaming Assets
Issue:
While renaming assets in the Asset palette there's currently no way to move to the next or previous asset using the keyboard. When there are a large number of assets this makes for a tedious process.Goal:
Allow the renaming of multiple assets without having to use the mouseSuggested Solution:
Utilize 'Tab' / 'Shift-Tab' keys to navigate to the next / previous assets, e.g. how renaming layers works in Photoshop.12 votes -
Layer Panel Rename + tab
This one is (or sounds) easy and would mimick Photoshop’s function :
I need to be able to rename layers in a row without scripting, by simply typing tab to go to the next visible layer’s name.- it would really help with Character Animator's process.
Step by step :
I’m in the Layers panel.
Those are badly named (layer 1, layer 2, layer 7…)
I double click on the top layer (1) name to change it.
I type « item A »
Then i press Tab once.
I’m now in the « layer 2 » name field, and all is…87 votesDone in version 26 (2022). You can now use Tab and Shift+Tab to cycle focus while renaming layers and artboards (but not assets yet — vote to make it happen, https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/31567951). Yay!
Please comment here if you have any issues with how it works). -
Adobe Draw File Management
I use Adobe Draw every day, and I keep all drawings for one project together in one file. There is no function to change the order that files or folders appear in the app, nor is there a search function, and and so if I am still working on a drawing I created yesterday in a folder that I opened 4 years ago, I have to visually search through hundreds of drawings every time I open the app or move back and forth through different projects.
Pretty please, introduce either a 'sort by last opened' option, and/or a file/folder search…

Visual Keyboard Shortcut Editor, for mapping hotkeys, like Premiere and After Effects have
I just saw YouTube videos of Adobe demonstrating the latest versions of Premiere Pro CC and After Effects at IBC 2017.
Finally After Effects is getting its own mappable keyboard shortcuts like the one in Premiere Pro. But what about Illustrator and Photoshop?
We Photoshop and Illustrator users definitely need this too!

Asset Export - Ability to reorder asset list view and group items
Asset Export - Ability to reorder asset list view:
Love the asset export, but it'd be really useful to click/drag change the order of my asset list in Asset Export panel.
It would also be great to have an option to group by art board. When I have a file of 20+ ad variants as their own individual artboard and want to export assets, it's a pain to keep track of things. It's also too bad that if I make a new asset later in the process, there's no way to group that asset next to the others in the…

Proportional Grid like After Effects
Make the standard grid setting in preference allow specification of height AND width. After Effects has a similar feature. Just tried to set up a proportional grid using Make Guides and illustrator almost crashed. Sometimes I don't want the Grid to be square.

Duplicate Layers with sequential numbering rather than "copy"
When you duplicate a layer it would be much better if, rather than the XXXX copy suffix the duplicate layer was numbered. And preferably numbered XXX_0001 (or a format one could specify in the Preferences). This would make working with layers much much easier - especially when working with After Effects.

Allow more math operations than one, support fractions input, support calculations in all numerical fields
It's handy when in Illustrator you have units set to picas and you input pixels just by adding the px, but not so handy when you need to add a fraction and because you don't know you have to calculate the value first, instead of for example typing 1+9/16 and not 1.5625.
Other example is when you're setting guides or dividing grids: you need to break a space in x times or create a pattern.
CorelDraw has it and saves a huge chunk of time.26 votes -
Quick Apply in Illustrator (and all major Adobe apps)
There’s a neat and extremely useful feature in InDesign called Quick Apply (and I wonder why is it only there). It’s a quick and convenient way to find, select and perform any desired action whose name I know but am unable to find (within myriad of menus and submenus of panel options). Please add the same feature to all major apps.

The ability to increase the text size, change font and color of any menu, panel or dock item
Some of us are going blind. Give users more flexibility with the program interface please. This will help a lot of people with eye strain.

最近使用したものの一覧にファイルパスを表示する Display file path for Recently Used items
最近使用したもの一覧はインターフェースとして便利ですが、同一ファイル名を使用したりするケースでは判別がつかず、ファイル管理上、危険が伴うので、ファイルパスを表示するなど、どこかにユニーク情報を入れてほしい。

Introduce Undo History panel
Please introduce Undo panel to Adobe Illustrator, listing all the steps that have been performed on a document during the current session, so one can quickly switch between any previous state and current state after testing a number of changes by clicking any item in the displayed Undo stack.

Percentage rulers
Photoshop has Percentage as a unit for its ruler, and I find it very useful when one needs to center an element, or drag a guide in the middle or the third of the image, especially as one can stick to the ruler marks.
I always wondered why Illustrator did not have that functionality.

Links 'Reveal in Finder / Explorer' function as in InDesign
Add an extra Links panel function under or above 'Reveal in Bridge' called maybe 'Reveal in Finder', as already exists in InDesign.

Could there be a more logical place for show center and path direction than the Attributes panel
The Attributes panel seems like the junk drawer of panels. Wouldn't the show center check box seem more at home in the transform panel, and the path direction seem better suited for stroke or pathfinder panel. Just one less panel taking up space on the artboard.

Effects Gallery interface extremely tiny on 4K resolution screen - Windows 10. No fix for it.
Using the latest version of Adobe Illustrator. I've just bought a brand new Dell XPS 15 it has a 1050 NVIDIA Graphics card, Windows 10 and a 4K screen. The interface is extremely tiny. It's usable but the effects gallery is too tiny to use.
I'm not sure if this a "bug" per se, but none of the fixes available online work (this included creating a Prefer External Manifest file and code for the Illustrator executable file). What I've read says this is a problem Adobe needs to address.
I'm extremely disappointed in this. What can I do to fix…33 votes -
Have a search bar at the top that searches all menu items.
Ok, the Adobe menus have a LOT of menu items and features. You guys should create a search bar that searches all the menu items and features to make it easier to find things.
Microsoft has this feature in it's Office Suite and it is SUPER useful.
For example have a bar that asks the user "What are you looking for" They can type anything, for example "Alignment" and it would bring up the alignment menu. Or "pathfinder" will bring up a button for the pathfinder menu.
Think about it guys, would save EVERYONE who isn't a pro SO much…
48 votesThe latest 2022 release has the Discover window that you can quickly call using F1 by default, which searches most if the commands available.
Have you tried it? Please tell us how it differs from what you expect from the global search you have in mind? What is missing or can be improved?
