2. Background Grid Not Displayed Behind Fully Opaque Objects in Illustrator 30.0

   I am experiencing an issue in Illustrator 30.0 where the background grid does not appear behind any objects that have 100% opacity, regardless of fill or effects. This happens even when Overprint Preview is enabled. This kind of phenomenon did not occur while using 28.x and 29.x series.

   • Illustrator version: 30.0
   • OS: macOS Sequoia (15.3.2)
   • Issue: Any object with 100% opacity completely hides the background grid.
   • Troubleshooting steps attempted:
     1. Switching GPU performance ON/OFF
     2. Using CPU preview
     3. Resetting Illustrator preferences
     4. Switching to Outline view and back

3. Add arrow buttons to change the font size or remove type units in Contextual task bar

   Please remove the "pt" from the textbox (if there are no other size descriptors), and/or:
   add +/- buttons for one-click increase/decrease font size.

4. Allow to disable labels when resizing or rotating an object

   When we rotate or scale an object with bounding box, Illustrator shows a label with the rotation angle or width/height changes.
   While the label looks similar to the Reference Labels for Smart Guides, it’s not it (and it’s larger).
   Ai doesn’t allow to hide these, and sometimes it obscures the art we work with.
   Please introduce a toggle!

5. Background option for thumbnail view when saving vectors, especially white vectors

   When a user goes through the save options on the pop-up window, it would be nice to add a feature that lets one select a background color for the thumbnail image. My reason for this is so my white vector files do not disappear on a white background. That would be great for me as a designer. The real trick would be if this thumbnail could also be viewed by anyone on their computer. White logos and icons I develop are passed off to clients or internal team members. Seeing that thumbnail can eliminate doubt and questions about the image actually being saved.
   If this feature exists, please let me know.

6. Tab To Edit Next Artboard Name in Export for Screens Window

   Hello,
   In the Artboards panel, when you edit an artboard name, you can hit tab to key into the next artboard to change its name without having to reach back to the mouse to double-click the next artboard name to change it.
   However, in the Export for Screens window, in the artboard section, if you hit tab when editing an artboard name, the Select: > All radial button becomes highlighted.
   This is not the behavior I expect in this context, and is inconsistent with the behavior in the Artboards panel.
   As a compromise, perhaps we could have conditional behavior, where, if you're editing an artboard name in the Export for Screens window, hitting tab goes to the next artboard name. Otherwise, tab will just move to the settings on the right.

7. 2 finger tap undo on desktop touch interface

   I have a touch screen laptop and I like using Fresco but struggle to use the touch interface in Illustrator and Photoshop because gestures don't work as expected. I thought at some point you all would add 2 finger tap to undo and 3 finger tap to redo as well as some other more common gestures. Is this possible? If so when can we expect this?

8. Can we please move the "Close all" button away from the "Save" button in the "FILE" dropdown menu

   Maybe move the "Close" and "Close all" buttons to the bottom of the "FILE" dropdown menu, instead of having them sit so close to the "Save" and "Save as" buttons.

   I have accidently closed various projects because of this.

9. Make Select Art button more evident

   I periodically see designers, with serious (albeit cheerful) faces, boldly clicking the 'round button' in Layers to 'select everything on the layer.'

   And while the button indeed 'selects' everything on a layer, it also selects the layer itself — targets it really, for applying a layer-specific appearance.

   Take a look at this GIF attached.
   If I select Layer 2 (with the green squares) like this, and then apply the Round Corners effect, all the new squares in the layer will have round corners.
   Sure, everything is visible in the Appearance palette.
   Sure, everything is written in the pop-up hints.

   The round ones are for appearance. We need to click to the right of the circle instead, where the square markers are drawn — these are there to mark selection... AND allow selection.

   It’s a very common mistake (like confusing windshield wipers and turn signals)...
   And I think I know why it happens. I’m convinced that it is psychologically easier to click a circle — that looks more like a button, — than an empty space where a square appears (when clicked).
   Recently some accessibility changes were introduced into Ai, and now things we can click in most panels gets highlighted slightly on hover — but not these square-to-be spots! Even when there are square markers there!

   So please make these more pronounced.

   I love appearance dearly, but selecting all in a layer / sublayer / group is a far more common procedure users do. And discovering something called 'appearance' was the source of many problems with art’s colors is not a good way to meet this power.

10. Allow to reset the position of a single panel, not the full workspace

    Reset Workspace for me is mostly used to get all the panels I torn out from docks to get back in their stables.
    But sometimes it’s just one panel, and waiting for Ai to creak and choke just to get one panel back is an overkill.
    And putting it back manually is not as simple as sounds — my memory remembers where it should BE, not where it should be PUT in!
    So can we get a way to force one chosen panel to be reset? 'You — go home'! I’d use it rather often.

11. Relative math operations with defined and mixed values in input fields

    When you have several objects with different parameters in your selection, Illustrator would show nothing in the input field controlling this parameter.
    For example, if you have two paths selected, one having 1 pt stroke weight, and another with 4 pt — Ai would show nothing in Weight in Stroke panel, meaning it’s a 'mixed value'.

    What if we could focus this field, type '+5' in it, and get 1+5=6 for one path and 4+5=9 for the other?

    Why not making it work for similar value as well? Instead of putting the cursor after the, say '2.25 pt' and type '+2' so it goes '2.25 pt+2', when we could just replace it with '+2', with no aiming?

12. Add Next / Previous buttons in Layer Options dialog

    Sometimes I need to change several colors for a bunch of layers.
    To do this, I have to double-click one in Layers, pick a color, close the dialog, double-click the next one... why exiting the dialog at all? I should be able to cycle them directly within it.

13. Rescale Recolor Window

    It would be awesome if it was possible to rescale the Recolor Window or even the smooth & segmented color wheels on the Edit tab of the Recolor Window.

    With the size now, it's difficult to control changes without changing each color individually in the Assign tab because of how small the color wheels are on the Edit tab. This challenge becomes worse when an illustration has more colors, especially when individual colors' small circles overlap with the bigger selection's circle.

    Being able to rescale the Recolor Window or the color wheels would help users better tweak their illustrations (especially near the end!)

14. Please make Mirror easier to use

    The Mirror tool is such a hassle to use and get it working. People, can you please make it an easy toggle to turn off and on, that you can use right away, similar to programs like Procreate and Clip Studio Paint?

15. Scaling is messed up for the effect tab and font tab

    The effects tab won’t scale to a larger size like 200% when on a small drawing display, the font tab also has problem with not shrinking down and stays too large clipping into the secondary screen. Can you please fix these two things?

16. Easier access to Tools

    Please rework the tools palette. Some ideas:

    1. make it easy to use the full height of the monitor to show more tools

    2. make it possible to select / activate tools directly through the All Tools overview, even when they are already loaded in the tools palette. It's inconvenient and annoying to watch an icon blink and then have to go into that to select a hidden tool.

    3. make it possible to drag tools from All Tools that are already in the tools palette. Dragging should result in the desired tool on the desired spot, and remove it from the other position.

    4. add Search to All Tools

    5. add a favorites / recent used Tools section. Just like in the Swatches palette.

    6. make it easy to switch to the previous tool with a key (see how Cinema4d utilizes that technique)

    Please rework the tools palette. Some ideas:

17. Ruler & Grids, Guides, Snap options as separate panel

    There are already UI elements for changing these settings, but they're only available in the properties panel with the selection tool selected and no object selection – which is very inconvenient.

    Make them a separate panel instead.

18. Control which tool is activated by the eraser end of my stylus

    I do all my work with a drawing stylus and have never found the native Eraser tool to be useful. Instead I use Astute's Opacity Brush, which lets you quickly paint opacity masks for the selected objects.

    I'd love to be able to access it by flipping my stylus over and eraser-clicking, but that only gets the Eraser tool.

    Before the Opacity Brush came up I've had other thoughts for this - how about assigning the eraser end of the stylus to your favorite selection tool instead of constantly hitting hotkeys to switch to and from it, for instance?

19. 【要望】文字組み更新機能が本当にいらない&邪魔です。

    せめて無効に出来るとか設定追加してほしいです。
    他デザイナーから受け取った最終データを書き出した際にハングル文字が混じった状態になっていました。
    ウィンドウも毎回邪魔ですし余計な機能です。
    せっかくレイアウトに合わせて文字組みした状態なのに勝手に変換されて崩れるのも困りますし、バグも多いし全然嬉しいと思った場面がないです。

    何か新しい取り組みの一環なのか知りませんが
    このような機能を追加するなら有効/無効が選択できる状態で実装してください。
    文字組みは自分でやります。

20. Make the Illustrator Home Screen Responsive

    Problem:
    Right now, the Home screen is center-justified and fixed-width. On wide monitors, this creates huge blank space between the left sidebar and the file previews. Even worse, recent projects are hidden off-screen until the app window is stretched far enough. They don’t wrap, resize, or scroll, they just vanish.

    Why this sucks:
    Users with wide displays waste massive amounts of screen real estate.
    Important files appear to be “missing” unless you manually widen the window.
    The layout looks like an old webpage centered in a box, not professional software.

    Screenshots attached:
    Welcome screen: can’t see all projects unless window is widened.
    Expanded window: giant blank void in the middle, wasted space.

    Request:
    Left-align the project thumbnails with the sidebar.
    Allow thumbnails to wrap or scale to fit the window.
    Add scrollbars if content exceeds the viewport, instead of hiding files.
    (Optional) Give users the ability to choose how the grid is anchored: left, center, or responsive.

    This would make Illustrator feel modern and stop punishing users with large/wide monitors.
