Better Interface for Document Setup / Artboard properties
When working with only one Artboard (in my case: 99% of my projects), it feels very uncomfortable to change the size via Document Setup - this shows a button 'Edit Artboards'. Clicking that button doesn't give any feedback to the user. We still have to find and click 'Properties'. Three clicks for such a fundamentals task. My requests:
1. Please integrate the Artboard size of a single Artboard document directly in the Document Setup panel.
2. When clicking 'Edit Artboards', open or bring to front the Properties panel.
3. Add a list or dropdown of existing Artboards in the Document…2 votes -
Display 'Save' in those History steps which were followed by saving, as Photoshop does it
It can be hard to navigate History, and when we do, we often need to see specific points of it.
Save operations are important turning points, and seeing 'Save' added to those operations that happened right before saving happened works great... in Photoshop, but not in Illustrator. Please add these.4 votes -
Portability or cross-device synchronization of Illustrator workspace organization.
Portability or cross-device synchronization of Illustrator workspace organization.
I have a standard way of working and organizing windows, icons, and other tools in the Illustrator workspace, and I'd like these settings to be synchronized across my devices, given that I work on my laptop and desktop in different locations at different times of the day.

Annoying "learn more"
Your instruction and tutorial always pop up and ask me to "learn more". I know the functions already. It is very annoying and I don't want to use Illustrator anymore if I have any alternative.
I cannot find how to close the pop-up and it affects my efficiency a lot. Disturb me every 5 min. It is a very very poor UX experience.

Ability to turn off all tips/tours
I have seen the same blue warning message about discontinuing PMS colors over and over no matter how many times I dismiss. I've been using this software for 20 years. I don't need tips. I especially don't need tips multiple times. Can we have a one stop shop to turn off all of this stuff? They seem to get more intrusive with every update.

Please show that a document is loading, on the Home Screen
When double clicking on a recent file, to open it, from the Home Screen, there is a very noticeable multi-second delay - where nothing changes or indicates that the load operation is happening.
Like, when I double click too slow to actually trigger the file open function, there's no way to know that my double click failed, without just waiting a few seconds to see if the Home Screen goes away and the file begins obviously loading, so I land up wasting extra time, just to realize I still need to double click to open my file.
It's only slightly…

Allow to add folders for opened document tabs in the top tab bar
Hey guys! While using Adobe Illustrator, I thought it’d be super helpful if we could organize the opened document tabs in a workspace panels better — like grouping them together and renaming the groups, kind of like folders. It’d make things a lot easier when working on multiple projects and trying to keep everything separated by sections.

Window > Arrange > Swap
If you have two documents open and you enable "Window > Arrange > Tile" you get both windows side by side.
By default you get the first-opened document on the left and the second on the right.
"Swap" function would exchange positions of the windows.
In order to do this without Swap, I have to do a manual tab shuffle to make this work and it's not as easy as it seems.

Explain the implications of deleting the current workspace better
I had a workspace, and I wanted to make changes to the panel layouts. My idea was to make a new workspace, based on the one I was currently using. I moved the panels I wanted. Then I went to Manage Workspaces, and deleted the current workspace. I figured my workspace would be removed, the currently layout would "just be there" and I could make a new workspace based on my panel layout. Instead, when I removed the WS, I was "forced" back to the "getting started" layout! Now I have to go and open all of my panels and…

One-Click Unit / Resolution Preset Switching (Print/Web)
As a designer working across both print and web media, I’d like to propose a feature that would greatly improve workflow efficiency in applications like Illustrator and Photoshop.
A one-click unit preset switcher that allows users to toggle between unit / ppi settings optimized for different use cases.
For example:
Print preset: mm, 300dpi
Web preset: px, 72dpiThis could be a simple toggle in the toolbar or a quick-access dropdown in the settings panel.

Add Copies field in Transform Each dialog
Transform effect dialog looks a lot like Transform Each dialog.
Perhaps Transform Each should get the same Copies field that the effect’s dialog has, to avoid hitting/holding Ctrl+D and to be able preview the result like the effect allows.Original idea by Enisio

Add Search in Preferences
Incorporate a Search function to provide the user the ability to quickly locate a specific preference (refer to Apple's System Preferences Search capability.)
Please also make Preferences user-friendly — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/42476344
16 votesBeta 29.7.0.60 introduces Search field in Preferences.
Now we can jump to the found option quickly by typing a name or a part of it.
Please try to update and test if it suits you (be careful though, this build also introduces many WIP change to the snapping system!) — and comment back if you have important notes.

Focus the Search field in Preferences (introduced in Beta 29.7.0.60) when the dialog gets opened, and focus the found and highlighted option
Search in Preferences, originally requested here (http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/42476344) is a welcome feature! However, it works not as it should be, as shown in the GIF attached.
- The field should get immediately focused instead of Keyboard Increment field, so we can start searching right away after calling the dialog with Cmd/Ctrk+K
- When it finds an option that can be toggled (a checkmark) or focused (a field) — it should focus it, so we can toggle it with s Space or type a new value This makes the whole experience mouse-free for those who are in a hurry (and we are).…
9 votesThis change broke the existing method to quickly access the Keyboard Increment value, reported here. The team decided to revert this change until a better solution is found. Please watch this space for further news.

Remove the window below the artboards that reads "Select an artboard with graphics and try Generative Expand to extend the artboard"
With whatever update came out, there is now a message that reads "Select an artboard with graphics and try Generative Expand to extend the artboard" on the artboards panel. This limits how many artboards you can see, and I am a person who has files with 40+. I tried using the feature to see if it would get rid of the message, but it still sits there. Please make this message removeable so I can get back to a quicker workflow and see all my artboards without having to scroll precisely. Thank you!

Guides menu box
I use guides on all projects, I open a new artboard, hit cmd+r for the rulers to appear and then draw a square that I want my margins to be, hit align left/top pull a guide line down for horizontal and vertical then align to right/bottom an do the same, this gives me my margins... can we get a popup window that just lets us type in values, like the bleeds but for margins, plus central horizontal and vertical guides tick boxes and columns/row margins etc. Would be great to save these as presets, so I can open a doc,…

Display Active Modifier-Key Command on Screen when holding Control, Shift, or Alt
When holding down any combination of Ctrl, Shift, or Alt, Illustrator should display on-screen text indicating which command is being invoked.
Moving or duplicating artboards requires the artboard toolbar to be selected, and then Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys to be held at once in order to drag a duplicate artboard parallel to the original. A simple on-screen text saying "Drag artboard, Drag parallel, Drag with Contents" or similar would help users intuitively understand which hot‑key action is being triggered, especially when working with multiple modifier keys where memorization can be challenging.
This can be used not just for artboard commands, but all…

Show Smoothing popup near cursor
When using the Brush or Pencil tool, and you press the Opt/Alt key, the very nice smoothing box pops up which is amazing and excellent. I think it would be great if the Smoothing popup box appeared close to the cursor. Currently, it pops up in the last place where it was used. It's still great though.

Please add virtual sliders for Rotate values for Objects on Path
Great new tool, Objects on Path. Unfortunately, the UI for rotating the Objects is not very smooth. We can choose preset angles via a dropdown, or type numbers. Why not add virtual sliders, just like Photoshop? This is so much more intuitive in a design process.

Make color choosing UI consistent
I never like it when the big color chooser with the square color gradient and numeric fields pop up.
Why does it exist?
Would like to have a user preference to choose the color picker in stead of having Illustrator to popup with several different color mixers. When double clicking the stroke or fill color, the big unusefull (imho) thing pops up, when clicking a swatch, a compact mixer pops up.
For me, it would be nice to construct my own combination of color mixers: RGB and HSB in 1 view, with sliders, without the big picking gradient, without cmyk,…
