Rotation of the Canvas
Like in Photoshop it would be great if an Artist could rotate the artboard/canvas in Illustrator. If you draw a line from left to right it's never the same stroke as from up to down.
Hi friends! I have some great news for your today. Rotate View (Canvas) feature is available in Illustrator 25.3 (Desktop) now. Thank you all for your feedback which helped us shape up this feature.

"PICKING IT UP SHORTLY". Either you or I don't know how to define "shortly"....

They recently took care of debugging another important request (free distort bounding box)... But for some mysterious reason, regarding this feature (rotating artboard freely when drawing), claimed for longer and by 10 times more users, they continue to act as if it were neither important nor urgent. And they talk about a professional application ??? Hey, Adobe : Real illustrators need real tools! Your customers are in trouble (for years !!) with the software you sell them and you really don't care ? Get out of your lethargy and implement this BASIC FEATURE !

Hi Adobe, any updates on this?

I don't need how much more evidence you want Adobe, it seems this is a highly desired feature, it's a shame that given the subscription fees we now pay that we can't get an update on this.
If you haven't figured it out yet just let us know!

You heard right. Affinity Designer has this feature. I recently made the switch. Wish I would have done it a lot sooner!

Please hurry with this feature! I hear affinity has it. will probably switch soon as it would be vastly helpful for drawing uniform brush strokes in different directions with a tablet!!!

It seems Adobe just doesn't care. There are a myriad of reason why this is a must have feature... This has been one of the top posts for ages on the feature request board and it just seems to get blatantly ignored.
"How can we improve Illustrator? Vote for or share a new idea."
Well how about you pick up this high voted backlogged request after more than two years? This would be the most desired improvement on my part for Illustrator and one that would be super nice to have on a daily basis.
Even if it was just in 90 degree increments it would be a big step up.

Yes, it would be swell to be able to rotate an entire artboard, the way Photoshop permits it. Especially useful when you are using the Pencil Tool to draw a shape freehand with your Wacom tablet. As another artist here puts it, some strokes are easier to make when you've positioned your "canvas" (artboard) in a comfortable way.

Everything rotates on art board and stays in places
Save having to twist our necks!
I've used a third party plug in - that does this, but I no longer have access to it
Please add :)

Hi, for drawing vector paths based on a bitmap images, the ability to rotate artboard (similar way to Photoshop) is a prerequisite for comfortable work. Please venture into the developers’ lab and make this the Illustrator’s feature soon.

Haha thanks for the update Adobe! Always making customer service a priority! Affinity Designer ALREADY HAS THIS FEATURE

Just checking in on the progress on this topic - after over 2 years. It would be really helpful thing to have added, especially when applying artwork on packaging.

"Picking it up shortly" should be Adobe's tagline. Just like "free beer tomorrow". We get it Adobe.
Affinity Designer already has this feature. Pathetic.

Hey are y’all ever going to add this one simple transformation to the matrix you’re already applying every time you draw the preview window? It’s three and a half years since you were gonna “pick it up shortly”.

And to reply at the previous comment, yes Clip Studio Paint is great. Cool vector brushes
and OBVIOUSLY the possibility to freely rotate artboard. Personnaly I use it to compense the lacks of Illustrator, but the problem is that one can NOT export work in a vector mode (ai, svg, eps...) No way. Vector drawing in CSP will stay vector mode only in CSP. Let's hope Adobe guys will provide to illustrators the tool they need (and that they pay for) before the world ends... -

Adobe does not have the honesty to admit frankly that their Illustrator software is so badly designed at the base, that today they do NOT have the technical possibility to implement this rotate artboard function, however essential to illustrators... They still prefer to appear for people contemptuous of the needs of their customers...
OK Adobe... But in that event, provide at least your customers with another tool, even basic, which can allow us to draw freely in vector mode with a drawing tablet ... A mini software with just the functions necessary for drawing AND THEREFORE the possibility to rotate the artboard.

I would use Illustrator more if it had this. I like to do my hand-drawn inking on my Wacom Cintiq. Our wrists are made to arc one direction. It is incredibly important to be able to rotate and quickly reset the screen. This has been requested for years. I can't understand why it has not bee implemented. If you can't wait for Illustrator to incorporate the functionality, I recommend using Clip Studio Paint. They have vector brushes and screen rotation. But the user interface isn't as nice as Adobe's.
