Relative placement shapes in appearance panel
When you use shapes in appearance panel and save to reuse, then the look you get is depending on the text you type in as these shapes move in relation to the text. If I want to have a square that does not move with the text but at the beginning of text, no matter how long text, then that is impossible. Would be great with more options and fix regarding all this with shapes in appearance panel.

appearance fill shape options rectangle - set percentage also (instead of points)
Hi! In Appearance fill "shape options" where one can set background rectangle. It would be good if you could set percentage values and not only points. Because it limits the use. Then the look depend on how big your artwork is. It is a difference to have 10 point margin to a square 100 point rectangle compared to 1000 point rectangle. So please add that possibility. Thanks!

automatic trapping plug-in would be a great step forward.
An automatic trapping feature, or a plug-in to that effect, would be of great convenience when submitting files for output.

For Illustrator CC 2019, sometimes when I open a document, it says it's open but it's not visible. Only the chrome is.
This is a bug that needs to be fixed.

Better Opacity Shortcuts
As far as I can tell, the only opacity shortcuts are:
10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, 100%That means the following opacities are missing:
0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, 11%, 12%, 13%, 14%, 15%, 16%, 17%, 18%, 19%, 21%, 22%, 23%, 24%, 25%, 26%, 27%, 28%, 29%, 31%, 32%, 33%, 34%, 35%, 36%, 37%, 38%, 39%, 41%, 42%, 43%, 44%, 45%, 46%, 47%, 48%, 49%, 51%, 52%, 53%, 54%, 55%, 56%, 57%, 58%, 59%, 61%, 62%, 63%, 64%, 65%, 66%, 67%, 68%, 69%, 71%, 72%, 73%, 74%, 75%, 76%, 77%, 78%, 79%, 81%, 82%, 83%, 84%, 85%, 86%, 87%, 88%, 89%, 91%, 92%, 93%, 94%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98%, 99%Miserable!
We should be able to set any opacity with keystrokes. Tons of other apps have proven this concept. Adobe sucks.

Provide more information on how to get to "Baseline Shift".- It took one day and numerous forum posts to figure it out.
To do a type/ baseline shift in Illustrator requires that one Preference be toggled ON. That's just in order to see the option in the Type pallet. I'm sure you know which one, so I won't bother telling you. If that pref is NOT set to ON, the user will not be able to find Baseline Shift, let alone use it. I wasted an hour or so trying to find it, then gave up and did the baseline shift in photoshop. I asked on the AI Forum, and got many answers, none of which tipped me off-until I had already figured it out on my own. So figure it out on your own, then include something in the documentation about it.

Another way to colorize our illustrations.
As we all know, Adobe Flash is no longer part of the Adobe Creative Cloud. But there is one very useful feature of Flash that should be part of Adobe Illustrator and that is the way that we where able to colorize vectors on Flash.
With Illustrator we can put a color inside an object, but if i want to put some colours into a surface between some handdrawned vectors that crosses I can't do it.Even the way that we were able to select a part of a vector when they crossed each other.
Those were very practical ways to edit a illustration and should not be discharged and forgotten with Adobe Flash.

Opening Last opened/recent documents
Problems opening Last opened/recent documents in Adobe Illustrator
I teach Adobe Illustrator to around 60 16 year olds.
When they first open the program & either double click on the image of their last document it often won't open. In fact it often opens another recent file, but not the one they actually have clicked on. The only way round I have found to get up their work is to >window & turn Application Frame off? This is far from ideal & I don't understand why it's suddenly started happening......
As you can imagine the 16 year olds find this confusing as one would assume double-clicking on an image of their document would open it.I've noticed more & more weird glitches with Illustrator in the last year. Are you now implying old Microsoft coding geeks to complicate things????
Don't even get me started on the new tool bar shinanikins........

Data Merge Batch process
Give Illustrator the same functionality panel of Data Merge of Indesign. Works better and supports Data Tabbed exported from Excel.

how about making uninstalling this app normal like the rest of the software builders? You guys made a 5 minutes uninstall a ******** 2 hour task for me forcing to update creative cloud, creating an account so I can login to remove illustrator. I remember this next time I decide to download an adobe software.

Illustrator CC 2019 (oct) NOT as default program for file extension .doc
Just upgraded to Creative Cloud 4.7.0.400, from 24.09.2018 on Windows 8.
Weirdly my E-Mail client suddenly opens .doc-files in Illustrator CC. I checked Windows 8's default program setting for file extension .doc ... it's still set to "Word". The E-Mail client (Opera Mail) is pretty slim and itself has no way of setting file extension behaviours - it's depending on the systems settings.
The Bridge's file extension dialog in Bridge settings does not list .DOC files, so it's not set to illustrator there either.
However if i go into windows file extension settings again, highlight .doc and click "edit program" to take a closer look, THERE are TWO entries in "recommended program" to open .doc files with... Word and Illustrator CC. How come?
My e-mail client seems to take whatever first program is set as "recommended program" to open doc-files with.
This is bad, since i have no way of removing this setting in windows settings.
How come creative cloud thinks it would be a good choice to open .DOC files with?Thanks and best regards,

Optional EPS with artboard multi-file save
When saving an EPS with artboards, Illustrator produces two files. Please make this optional – I just want to save the one EPS with artboard. However, Illustrator makes a copy and labels it Filename_01.eps. Thank you!

Have been unable to transform using my Wacom intuos pro in illustrator for the last few versions. The selection tool constantly defaults to rotate the object unless I zoomed right in. It is incredibly frustrating for workflow.
I have contacted wacom who advised the issue is with Illustrator and not the tablet.1 vote -

Ability to use separate graphic styles on strokes versus fills
the title basically says it all.
i would like to apply a graphic style to an object's stroke, and apply a separate graphic style, or more likely no style to that object's fill. this way i can alter the stroke of many objects at once, without altering their fill color.
typically i have illustrations with 100s of groups each consisting of 100s of faces with the same stroke style, but different fill colors. in the course of design, i need to tweak the stroke color and weight to get the right look, but it's extremely tedious to have to click into each group and manually change every stroke color and fill. separate styles for stroke and fill would unlock many possibilities and save time for lots of folks, i imagine.
