File operations
I just opened 6 50kb PDF files and it took 1 minute 50 seconds. Why is it so slow? It has been this slow for a long time and I am sick of it. It makes me wonder why I should pay for this.

Arrange all artboards reference point
I don't understand which is the starting point of the arrange all artboards, I thought it was the 0 (zero) of the global rulers, but after the arrange all commands the top left artboard is not align with the rulers.
Is there any answer to this or is it a bug?

Restore previous default Stroke alignment to center, or add a preference option for default alignment.
The default stroke alignment used to be centered in previous versions.

Increase MORE +++ the anchors points size. The actual option is not ENOUGH Is very difficult to work..
The actual size options seems a joke, I work with 3ds max, and there you can select very easy the vectors points, in illustrator it is a Nightmare.

SET OVERPRINT TO GROUPS OF DIFFERENT OBJECTS
Second Time i have to adress this, Grouped objects, Set the group to over print, yet some of hte objects do not accept this setting as a group , only by ungrouping the mixed objects i can achieve a safe overprint setting, no other version before this one had this ERROR and its in fact dangerous to my worl as a finished artist when i can not trust my software to do what i set it to do.
Please fix this once & for all
Example, group various objects (excluding stroke) type box, vector objects of various sizes and shapes (all the same colour, this was part of my previous request) however now AI claims that all objects according to the Attributes field are overprinting, yet the sep preview clearly shows it is not, i can remove overprint on the group & the group responds to that , however o seting the group back to overprint, the one object still remains on knock out....
please fix this error

Warn if Appearance Attributes are going to be lost (when ungrouping, etc.)
Because there's a lot of people that don't know what's going on.

shortcut for fidelity
Hi there. I use illustrator for my digital whiteboard animation / videoscribe. It all works well. but I like to switch from low to high fidelity depending if I am drawing characters, or buildings or inanimate objects.
I think a short cut key to put it up and down would be really useful.1 vote -

Add "Sort Libraries" feature to the library palette
Assets in Libraries can be sorted (e.g. "by date" or "by name") - but if you manage (and share) several libraries, they cannot be sorted.
On the cloud web front end libraries CAN be sorted, but this sorting will not be updated in the application palettes.
For clarity reasons, this feature should be included ASAP.

Illustrator or Photoshop for digital drawing??
I am a digital artist. I didn't see a thread about difference between this two software , and it seemed like no one has given their impressions on this oftware so I wanted to put together something quick to kickstart a discussion or something.
Illustrator is a vector based application and Photoshop is an image editor. That means Photoshop works with pixels and Illustrator does not. Illustrator drawings can be scaled and printed at any size without loss of image quality. The lines are very clean and sharp, which is great for logo design and illustration. Photoshop drawings can be more similar to drawing with traditional media like pencils, or chalk, or paint, if that's what you want.
If you draw in Photoshop it is important to plan ahead for final output size. If you want to eventually print your drawing at 16" x 20", then you need to start with a document that big, at a resolution of at least 150 ppi (depending on how it will be printed). When you draw in Illustrator you don't have to worry about any of that in the beginning.
What kind of drawing are you trying to create? What's the final intent for the drawing? Do you want a super sharp clean edge drawing, or something more organic? You have to answer those questions before you can get the correct answer.
IF you decide that Photoshop is perfect for your drawing needs, then you must get a pressure sensitive drawing tablet . XP-Pen makes a affordable and well-built graphics tablets.

I combine drawing and photography for my composite art. I start the old fashion way with pencil on paper, then color it in Photoshop. The final look is much different then something created in Illustrator. Here's my most recent drawing composite.
Von Glitschka is the best Illustrator artist I know. His work has a completely different look and style. He primarily works in Illustrator and has written several books and recorded several Lynda.com courses about his workflow.
Patrick Lamontagne is a cartoon artist who does all of his work in Photoshop, including the line drawing part. He also does photo realistic paintings completely with Photoshop.
I hope somebody can find this helpful. Let me know.

Shorter toolbar size
Hi, any chance of being able to have an option of a shorter version of the Tools palette. When I have it set to single column using a 15" MacBook this runs off the bottom of the screen. I know I could set it to double column but I like to have a maximum working area. Just a thought…

Display the Shape parameters in toolbar regardless of display resolution or monitor size. My 15" MBP does not show H and W 27"iMac does
My 15" Macbook Pro does not show H and W when a shape is selected. My 27" iMac does. There is enough space to show these parameters so why are they a drop down in that size display?
I also work in Windows 10 but its a 27" monitor & they are displayed.1 vote -

Metadata on ASE
For me and many designers, color is an asset with information associated with it that I need to follow this asset as it moves from different design programs. With metadata attached to file, I would be able to utilize the features in InDesign and other programs to auto populate this information into text fields. Additionally if this metadata ASE file was a library shared between many users and the any of the tagged information on a color was changed, this update would shoot out to any documents using this color. It would reduce:
-errors by relying on one source of truth for all the color information.
-time spent typing in this information and free up time for design instead of administrative tasks.
-time spent tracking down where colors were used to update any changes. For me and many designers, color is an asset with information associated with it that I need to follow this asset as it moves from different design programs. Blend shapes or lines along a curved path, like a "spline".
Type can be arranged along a custom curved path. Why not blends? As it is now, if I want to arrange repeating vertical lines along a curved horizontal path, I have to: create the blend in a straight line, then: line by line, go along the blend cutting off bits to match the curved horizontal baseline. I can make it look decent, but it takes quite a while.
1 voteAs per the comment, you can replace the spline in a blend via Object > Blend > Replace Spline, if you have a blend and a new spline path selected together.

change stroke color of custom brush
I've downloaded a few custom brushes & their colors don't change. They're black, that's it, no matter what stroke color I choose in the palette. I don't like having to expand their appearance just to change their color. In a few projects that I'm working on, I want to be able to try a few different brushes in the color that I like (and be able to change that color, too) + at any point that I wish to change that brush again in the future & maintain that color. You get it. Hoping this is a simple thing the programmers can adjust.

1 voteA brush can be customized to maintain the chosen color in several ways, including None (to keep the original color set in the brush), Tints, Tints And Shades, and He Shift.
Read more about these here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/brushes.html

bug: Screen turns black after choosing width tool
In between bugs I still try to make something in Illustrator, and now this happened:
- I hit Shift + W on the keyboard to select the width tool.
- Instead of the width tool cursor, the cursor became a black rectangle.
- I noticed both the Selection tool and width tool were selected in the tools window.
- I dicided to click on an Anchor anyway, and the screen turned black. The video signal went off, monitor went on standby. The HDD/SSD light on the PC was flashing nonstop. PC did not respond to anyting (I think, but I could not see because there was no visual).
- Working file was recovered after reboot, that's nice.
