グループ内のサブレイヤが非表示でも順序を入れ替えられるようにしてほしい
たくさんのレイヤのグループを作り、各グループのうちひとつを表示して書き出し、という方法で何枚も図面を作ることが多いです。
例えば「1990年」というグループ内に、当時の「道路」「土地利用」「施設」等を入れ、同じように「2000年」「2010年」というグループを作る、等です。
このときに、すべてのグループにおいて「道路」サブレイヤを「土地利用」サブレイヤの上に移動したいとします。
ところが、現状各グループが非表示だとレイヤの上下移動ができません。「1990年」を表示して、レイヤを移動して、「1990年」を非表示にして、「2000年」を表示して、…と面倒な作業を行わなければなりません。移動するレイヤは名前でわかるので、非表示のまま移動できればかかる時間が大幅に減るのに、と思っています。時間短縮のために、グループ内のサブレイヤが非表示でも順序を入れ替えられる機能をつけてほしいです。

AI Reference Guide - Downloadable
I would love to see a return of a downloadable reference guide / user manual. I want the ability to read through it offline, occasionally print the page that's pertinent to my task, and have a book that is physically on my desk (not the desktop).. FYI, on this page (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/faq.html), under Learning Illustrator > Where can I find the manual, the answer is: "You can find web and PDF versions of the Illustrator manual on the Illustrator Help page." I'm still looking for that PDF...

Convert fractions to decimals within the program, not just the new file dialogue box: 116-7/8" to 116.875 in.
We work with various large format sizes given with fractions, but the programs run off decimals. The New file dialogue box will convert them, so why can't this be added to the number fields for artboard and object sizes? Similar to how we can use the "/" to divide by a number when working at 1/4 scale or 1/2 scale.

Double tap keyboard shortcut key to open dialogue box.
This should speed up workflow for advanced users and help students learn tools & access dialogue windows faster.
For example: ‘W’ brings up the blend tool.
‘W+W’ brings up the blend options dialogue‘R’ brings up the rotate tool. ‘R+R’ brings up the rotate dialogue.I understand you can double click the blend toolbar icon to bring up the dialogue, or go to properties to adjust rotation. Why not double tap to stream line the entire process.

Ability to warp more precisely
I work in the label industry and we have to warp artwork for tapered containers.
We find that we need to be between whole numbers of a percent.
Is it possible to have the ability to warp 1.3% without it just rounding down or up to the nearest whole number?

A tint percentage slider in swatch options (like InDesign)
If a tint of a global colour has been added to the swatches the percentage cannot be adjusted. If you double click on the tint it brings up the swatch options panel for the colour the tint is based on, but there is no option to change the tint strength.
Can it be the same as InDesign - when you double click on the tint there is a tint slider available in the swatch options panel?

Rename Anchor Points
Say you want to apply the 3D (Classic) Rotate effect to a complex illustration but you have a rogue anchor point that causes this message: An unknown error occurred. Click MORE INFO and try some of the solutions to fix the issues.
It has taken me many hours to figure out that a single anchor point (that is neither part of a shape or a path) is the most-likely cause of this error message. I work very clean, but rogue anchor points happen occasionally and it's incredibly frustrating to find.

Highlight last used field
Best feature in Indesign is to jump back to last used field using a keyboard shortcut. I think this should definitely be part of every application, including Adobe Illustrator. That is, similar to Indesign:
Activate last-used field in panel --- Default: Opt+Cmd+`
This should be a great addition to all the Adobe Applications.

Allow formatting of bullets & numbers in lists
Bullets and numbers currently inherit the formatting of the first character in the list item. This is not very flexbile and creates issues when in one list there are bold items and regular items.
There should be an option to add formating to the bullet as well as the numbers. Also: there should be an option to use any kind of character of a dingbats font as a bullet. Bonus would be if any kind of shape could be used.71 votes -
Add option to change stroke/font units faster
For my workflow I constantly need to change the unit of strokes between points and inches. It would be nice to add a way to change them in 1 click rather than going Edit > Preferences > Units every single time. Not a huge change but would be quite convenient and probably fairly easy to implement. We can currently set the unit of the whole document in a window, but not things like stroke/font. Could just add the option to the existing stroke window like the attached picture.

Adobe illustrator is running slow for no reason
I have been using adobe illustrator for more than a year on my vurrent laptop and i never had problems (acer nitro 517-52 GTX1650Ti I5). I have updated my graphic drivers and illustrator too. I know i am using more and more fonts over the time. But since adobe illustrator crashed yesterday i doesnt stop lagging. When i am constantly zomming in and out with alt and middle mouse button its crashes in less than 5 sc and crash after placing down 5 rectangles in like 30 sc. My document size is 2000 by 2000 mm and i also tried…

.obj asset file multiple group/layer hierarchy
It’s very cool that you can export 3d models as obj - when I try to import the obj file Into blender, the group objects become scattered and lose there positioning that I have created - please make it so that when I import the file all of the objects are together / grouped as I intended and not scattered - great job on the new update 👍🏻

Clipping mask with text
It would be musch easier if text could work as clipping masks without expanding (or apply the create outline command on) them.

show swatch folders in recolor artwork panel
In the recolor artwork panel when you double click the color on the right to determine what the color is being changed to, you can choose from swatches by then clicking on swatches. But, it's just a list of all of the swatches with no indication of which swatch folder the swatches are in. This makes recoloring difficult at times

Pen tool - just double click last point to stop drawing (and leave path open)
It used to be (many versions ago) that if I was drawing with the pen tool, all I had to do is double click my last point, and it would end that graphic, leaving it open, and leaving the tool ready to draw another line. Now the only way to stop seems to be to hit return (which is awkward since I am right handed), go hit another tool, or use a keystroke. All of these take more time and break my train of thought.

Bullets & Numbering in Shortcuts
The menu items for bullets and numbering are not in "Edit shortcuts" At least not in the German version of Illustrator.
Could they perhaps be made available for shortcuts?

Fast way to make multiple text boxes
I like to break up words and phrases in to multiple text boxes so I can move them freely. It would be nice to have a fast way while typing out the phrase to break it in to more than one text box. Like a “command + enter” type thing that instead of going to a new line it goes to a new text box.
