Add the ability to only draw with stylus
Sometimes I accidentally tap with my finger and the program thinks I want to make a line or point where I tapped. In other apps you can disable finger drawing so the only time points or lines are added is if you use the stylus. Shortcuts and commands would still be input with the fingers but no marks would be made on the page unless one used the stylus.

Better Layers Panel
It’s just terrible how it works now.
When you select an Object it is marked blue, but only when its not within any Folder (expandable Object), you have to manually expand the „Folder“ to see the blue Mark.
This way you can’t find any selected Object until you expand the Folder its in. Any Project that has any kind of Folder or Cutpath becomes very fast a Nightmare to Navigate. And the solution would be so easy. Why can’t we move or select hidden layers within the panel. Why? Now I have to show the layer, manipulate it in any…

Ability to paint within a shape or send to Fresco while maintaining line quality.
In Fresco, I can freehand vector lines but cannot edit them like in Illustrator. In Illustrator my color/paint options are severely limited. Being able to paint or draw within a shape would be wonderful. If the two apps could share files I could have the best of both worlds.
(I tried exporting to a psd the loading in Fresco but it rasterized my lines.)4 votes -
Keep touch modifier on right
I’m left-handed so I would like the touch modifier to always be on the right when I open/create a document while keeping the tools on the left (not all lefties want their tools on the right). Thanks!

Export directly to Illustrator Desktop, like in the Draw app
I thought it would be a natural thing to include the export function to illustrator Desktop via Adobe Cloud, and it would be nice to import from the cloud too.

Recreate gestures to replace touch “button” when using Apple Pencil
Instead of having a physical touch button to mimic alt and shift, maybe draw inspiration from iPad only apps like Procreate to make the iPad Illustrator as useful as the desktop version.
Couple of ideas:
1. Decrease the affect palm movements have when using Apple pencil, and only respond to gestures and menu-taps when using Apple Pencil.Make it an option to use the physical gesture button or not.
2.a When not using a pencil it could be useful
2.b When using pencil, using finger gestures instead of a button would give more and quicker options. You can make it…

Ability to show individual layers in outline view
Maybe using the option 'button' whilst clicking on the visibility icon could put an individual layer into outline mode?

Import image? Surprised this isn’t already a feature.
Trying to import images of boat plans to digitize into 3D models... but there isn’t an ‘import image’ option. There is only work arounds that say to import image into Adobe illustrator Draw, and that should upload it to Adobe Cloud and it should work. Well, it doesn’t. Adobe Cloud cannot sync “at this time. Try again later”
Very disappointed and let down. I’ve been waiting years for this to arrive on the iPad, and it’s just as useless as whatever Illustrator Draw was supposed to accomplish.4 votes -
Swatches and eye dropper tool
I would like to see an eye dropper tool and the swatches panel in Illustrator for iPad. The eye dropper tool would be useful for selecting colors in a photo and applying those colors to a shape. The swatches panel would be useful for selecting textures and previous colors that were used.

Snap to path intersections
Example: when two circles’ paths are overlapping, the points where they overlap should become snappable points. See attached video.
