@Elena, Oh no, sorry it didn't work for you. Have you tried perhaps resetting your Preferences (a bit of a pain, because then you may need to go tweak your preferences again afterwards), but sometimes this helps to iron out glitches.
Mac: Illustrator > Settings > General > Reset Preferences
Windows: Edit > Preferences > General > Reset PreferencesRestart Illustrator... go back in and tweak your preferences to your liking (units, welcome screen, etc). Then create a new artboard. Select the artboard tool. in the Contextual Task Bar (Window > Contextual Task Bar) select Generative Expand, hit Enter.
That should get rid of the pesky ad. 😵💫
PS. It may be a good idea to look through the Preferences before you reset them to see if there are settings you set before... perhaps take screenshots if you are not too familiar with all the settings.

@Mike. Yes, that's the only way to get rid of it (as far as I can see).
It would be nice if they don't put these "ads" in the UI... Or at least have a Preference / Setting that advanced users can select to deactivate these "what's new" prompts. Advanced users will go research what's new in their own time.
Correct, the i in that modal didn't do anything. It's supposed to take you to the website for more information I guess, but it clearly doesn't work. 😂
Perhaps they should just keep all these in the notifications section (next to the share button). Nice, easy and clean.

No excuse putting an advert on UI. Put it somewhere where it doesn’t get in the way.

Dr Missile, this is possible in Illustrator...
Create a square much larger than your artboard —> Align Centre.... you could also add a guide to the centre if that will help. Click the target (circle) next to the layer to target the entire layer and content
Effect > Distort and Transform > Transform...
Select Reflect X > OK
Effect > Distort and Transform > Transform...
Angle 60º; Copies 5 > OK
Lock the sub-layers containing the guide and square so you don't move them by accident.Use the pencil tool or any drawing tool to create something on the layer. It will reflect and so symmetry.
If you want more or less repetitions you can do the math for that or you could even add more transforms on.
Play around a little... the possibilities are endless. I use the layer style feature all the time.
The repeat tool is pretty cool and I think in combination with the Layer Style feature it could bring some more cool effects.
Please add an option in preferences (for all Adobe Software) the ability to deactivate the generative features. Some of the features are nice from time to time, but mostly, as an artist, I prefer to struggle a bit to create what I need to create. If you need to have notices for the new features, by all means add those to the notifications section and I can go check them out there. I really don't want to have prompts in the UI, that's just bad — your UI/UX designer should be fired for this!
Not everyone using Illustrator are new to it. I've been using Illustrator daily it for the last 31 years. (only 11,000+ days) I stay up to date, I research the new features. I don't need to spoon-fed.
Have the option available for people who are new, like Rich Tool Tips — those who need them use them, the ones who find them disruptive can turn them off.
