An error occurred while saving the comment Can reproduce with the .ai file attached.
1. Select the only text object in the file
2. Pick Eyedropper tool
3. You don't have to change any settings of it, you can leave both Appearance options unchecked
4. Click the text object with the Eyedropper tool
The text become orange, the tracking gets changed.
The text has a basic appearance, so I have no clue where does it come from.

An intended way of picking up the hidden Zone Marker tool via a script is to enter the Intertwine mode using these commands:
app.executeMenuCommand('Partial Rearrange Make') — when an intertwine object is not created yet, and
app.executeMenuCommand('Partial Rearrange Edit') — when the object already exists, as per comments by the OP.
An error occurred while saving the comment You are correct, the tool gets picked automatically once the mode is entered.
Since the discussion in fact is pretty useful for those who might search for it, I will rather mark it as 'Resolved' and quote you in the status. An error occurred while saving the comment Mer, the same applies to making edits into an intertwine.
You have to call for the Edit command and then call the hidden tool.
This is an intended way, the developer says, and not a workaround.
Please confirm it works for you.An error occurred while saving the comment I guess the correct way of using this would be to create an intertwine object first and only then to call a specific hidden tool that is designed to work with intertwines only.
Remember that you can create one with the menu command and not specify zones at all, and it still will be a valid intertwine object.
So it's not a tool that creates it, but a separate command you forgot to call.

The latest Beta 29.5 52 should now remember the settings in the Export for Screens dialog and keeps it between sessions. Please try to test it to see if it works as expected for you and comment back.

An error occurred while saving the comment I've never had to use this kind of interlinked duplicated global swatches in my work, so yeah.

Can’t reproduce. Please provide more info, about your OS, GPU, and screenshots of the 'shifting towards objects' you refer to.
An error occurred while saving the comment Can’t confirm that.
