1. "1 click" no stroke/fill — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/34136629

3. Change line color and fill color of groups in one click — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/43355862 — this is the one I made the mockup below for. Would you mind merging these? An error occurred while saving the comment The question remains though — where to put the icons here, when the toolbar has two columns? Overlay chips? I remember making this mockup (the second image), a year ago. I bet there was a similar request.
An error occurred while saving the comment I am enjoying the conversation, Steve. Thanks you for this excurse! I do agree with most of these, although I don’t have enough chances to verify these today. Used to be true at some point for sure.
Attributes I use still. I add Notes to objects, I change fill rule for compound paths (intentionally and not to fix the outlining of fonts), I toggle center points... Attributes has options other panels can’t host :) But overprints are less common now.
Back to the topic — I can’t imagine Ai team would make changed to the Fill / Stroke selector anytime soon.
The solution I can offer (theoretically) is to have two scripts, each one removing either a fill or a stroke. Then to bind these to custom hotkeys (via Actions or custom solutions like AHK (Windows, free) or Keyboard Maestro (Mac, paid)). I bet these exists even.An error occurred while saving the comment Steve, what version did you start with?
The panel was there in Ai 10 I remember the most form old version. And in-panel editing of attributes happened in CS3 or CS4...
Freehand didn’t have it like this in a tool panel, but had a somewhat similar in Swatches — either fill or stroke to assign a swatch to...
Xara, InkScape, Corel — they all use a modifier or right-click (now as a option).I wish I could know for sure.
Anyway — it is my guess on the way the selector looks, and I should have clarified that. Have no confirmation on this.An error occurred while saving the comment I understand the reasoning behind the request, yep. Flow is important.
Why overlapping? A design choice to visualize the currently focused attribute. In Illustrator you can have only one or another in focus.
Why? Because this selector is a simplified version of the more complex and powerful appearance system most users are not aware of (sadly). If you open Appearance panel, you will see we can set more than one stroke and fill for an object.
Selecting any attribute in the panel will focus the Fill and Stroke in the selector (but not vice versa).
Every effect applied, swatch chosen, parameter tweaked will apply only to this selected attribute (or a top one if you have selected several) — otherwise Ai would have to guess out intentions, and it never works well in any system. An error occurred while saving the comment Same deal, I am almost out of F-keys, only a couple of slots left, for temp actions.
There is an existing request to allow us to use other modifiers in general: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/34616848
Please upvote it and share among those who might be interested in it (so far it has criminally low vote count).X is an intended solution to focus fill and stroke and this requires attention, to see which one is active.
It make it a 'relative' hotkey. That’s why a request to have 'absolute' hotkeys to focus an attribute exists. The buttons you offered are just one way to deal with the core problem, and it requires aiming. Useable in some times for some users.
AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment I see now what you mean, thanks!
Firstly, the tool panel you have a screenshot of has the 'Fill Stroke' control, but misses the 'Coloring' control (other two available being Draw and Screen modes). One can toggle these at the bottom of the Edit Toolbar dropdown panel, called by 'three dots' button at the bottom of each tool panel, like the attached image shows.
Secondly, I see what you want to achieve with this — to get rid of the modality and to be able to remove any attribute of two without the need to activate it first. This reminds me of the approach other editor use, where we can set fill with a left click, but stroke with a right click, or by using a modifier to change the attribute set.
There is a separate request about this method: Absolute mode that always sets a fill a single click and stroke with the Alt+click/right click — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/44104935
Another related request is Add Focus Fill and Focus Stroke commands we can assign hotkeys to — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47384021The spots you chose though to place the 'none'-s are quite neat :) I am upvoting it.
An error occurred while saving the comment Don’t get it, sorry.
Perhaps by 'LHS toolbox' (there is no LHS mode in Ai, only HSB — close, but different) you mean Color panel with HSB mode chosen?
If yes, then it does have the 'None' button with a red diagonal to remove the currently focused fill/stoke attribute.Or do you mean something else entirely? Please provide a screenshot and kindly explain the need.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dan, please tell more. What is the font? Where did you get it?
Can you share a test file for the team to look at? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Barron, sorry for the extremely late reply!
Actually, both things you ask for are possible (almost!).We can save Graphic Styles as local libraries as an .ai file, using the panel’s menu.
Then we can load it as a separate panel.
Then we can make one 'persistent' — and it will stay afloat for all the documents we open.
However, while the styles will be accessible, they’d get themselves copied into current document’s Graphic Styles panel. So when you we update a style locally, it’d be quite hard to replace a style in a persistent library...So yeah — this part is quite legit, it should be simplified!
The next part is redefining the basic style. Doable. Dragging an object with the style you want as a default one with Opt/Alt held will replace it.
Then, if you wish for this style to be used in every new document, you should modify the corresponding document profile (Print.ai, Web.ai...) or create your own.
You can read about document profiles here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/create-custom-new-document-profile.html -

An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks for the file.
Can’t replicate it in both 28.4.1 and the latest Beta 28.7.0.65, for artboard 2 (Back), using both Export As and Asset Export methods, both JPG and PNG format. The clipping of the symbol in a circle doesn’t get lost, the result is consistent.
1. Can you test the latest Beta? It can be installed from your CCD app.
2. Can you please share the EXACT settings used to export images? Screenshots should suffice. Format settings, color profile, color mode, resolution... everything. An error occurred while saving the comment To be fair, by looking at these two images, I struggle to realize what goes wrong exactly... I see it’s off, as if like clipping goes wrong, but it’d hard to reproduce that without the actual test file, only by description given...
Tatyana, would you mind sharing a test file the team can look into? It doesn’t have to be this exact file, if you are not comfortable to share it publicly, but a simple test file with bare minimum of elements to demonstrate how the bug behaves.

Does not happen with CPU Preview mode, happens in the latest Beta as well. -

While someone form the team would be able to evaluate it, I am just curious to know what you actually mean and what is the purpose of this. Would you mind to explain it? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Some links to read about the plugins mentioned:
https://docs.astutegraphics.com/vectorscribe/reposition-point
https://docs.astutegraphics.com/reform/reprofile-overviewAn error occurred while saving the comment True, Ai is missing these. Voted.
There are two tools that allow this, both from Astute Graphics paid plugin set: Reposition Point Tool and Reform Tool.
I attach a GIF to demonstrate how they work.Notice some interesting moments though.
Reposition Tool tries to maintain the curvature of the path, even when you move a sharp point.
Reprofile works as expected on straight segments, and offsets a curves segments just fine, but won’t 'slide' a segment when adjacent 'rails' are curved — it’s actually an offset, not sliding, and that’s what tool does (amongst it other feature). Still does the job in most cases.AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment I agree with Object Mosaic Preview, but I can’t understand the difference between 'normal Preview' and 'Live Preview' for Transform Effect (and I suppose to Transform Each dialog as well). What do you mean with 'Live'?
Please explain the difference. -

An error occurred while saving the comment You can’t, and unless someone comes up with a plugin that does that, it won’t happen.
Adobe is hardly interested in supporting solutions other than it’s own, Firefly-based, and prefers to develop it’s own tools.I am curious — why would you want this integration? I have my own ideas on it, but what is your desired workflow?

An error occurred while saving the comment If I am getting this right, you want to smaller objects to have smaller units used, while larger objects would get larger units?
That is, the object at the top would be 6×1 m, and the one at the bottom would become 210×297 mm?The last line in your request, with options listed, is even harder for me to get — sorry!
It gets translated as 'Desired size, note number, automatic movement option, size' — can you explain these more, please? -

Which places exactly do you have in mind? I can think of Transform effect’s and Transform Each command’s dialogs. What else? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Kürşad, UV seems to block these types of attachments here.
Than please send them to sharewithai@adobe.com (and mention the link to this report for tracking purposes — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/939477/suggestions/48642581)
And please do answer the questions I asked earlier: have you tried this in Beta? Do you include color profiles? What is the color mode of the document you place a link into?An error occurred while saving the comment Can you please confirm if the latest Beta build has the same problem? You can try to install it from CCD app.
I can’t replicate it there.
If it still does, please provide more details on this: do you include color profiles in the PSD? What are your color management options? What is the color intent of the document you place the PSD in? The more the better, this would help to replicate the issue. -

Please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience. Please get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.

Ryan, would you mind asking the same thing at Photoshop forums and sharing a link here? Here is the page — https://community.adobe.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/idea-photoshopAs every borderline problem, this might have to be solved from the other end — perhaps Photoshop doesn’t share the layer’s name at all.

The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
The team intends to add another command into this menu, allowing to copy the path. That’s it.
This request crucially lacks feedback from all the voters. Please comment back: do it if you don’t like how it works, and do it if you do.
An error occurred while saving the comment Not happy with the solution.
At one hand, InDesign’s solution really looks similar...
...but there are some key differences.
InDesign allows right-click.
I can click the link item in the panel or anywhere in the Link Info section...
Illustrator still believes in a world where mice have one button. We don''t have menus ANYWHERE.
Sure, InD does not allow to copy only the name, but full path...
...but Ai does not allow to copy one if necessary! You made the menu, but added only one option there!
Any menu or dropdown with only ONE item in it is a UX failure. No 'it's a template for future addition', please — make it a menu when you have more additions. Then Ai allows us to click the path of a link with left click to open the location.
Why there is nothing similar for the name, along with the menu, with more options?Plus — why can’t we copy a missing link’s name directly from the dialog, like we asked in this request?
Sure, one can click Replace and copy if from the Replace dialog’s File Name field... or OCR this text with a third-party tool (if allowed to have one)...Nowadays embedding a link kills the original name, replacing it with the name of the layer.
There was request to be able to rename embedded links, and to grab their names to find the original... what about this?I think you can do better than this.
To allow copying name, path, or full path with the name — for one or several selected or all links.
To allow to copy info as a whole or individually.
To allow right-click, here and in other places like Layers panel.
To allow to rename embedded links.
To allow to rename linked files, without a long workaround: 1) rename file, 2) have Ai scream at you, 3) locate the file in a separate dialog.
Why can’t we relink with a drag-n-drop from Explorer/Finder by holding some Alt/Opt key, directly into an item on canvas or into the panel’s item?
Why do you do the LEAST effort? :(AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment InDesign’s solution to Outside of Text is just a trickery. Judging by a PDF output, what it secretly does it making the stroke twice as thick and puts it behind the characters... A trick that is possible only due to the rudimentary appearance system InDesign has.
Illustrator’s approach is both more powerful, but doesn’t support complex appearance for live characters — this includes inside (especially) and outside strokesThere is s separate, more global request for that:
Allow to set the stroke below the fill in appearance panel for text characters — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/46545787...but it’s less popular, since users don’t really know Appearance (sadly) and the connection between the problems is hard to grasp.
Perhaps we should get these merged? What do you think?AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Also! I don't understand why aligning strokes don't work for open paths. I have to build custom width profile to simulate this — 0 at on side, full width on the other. Why? You think that people will be angry, when outside will look like inside, because of path direction? Make a button for changing it to Stroke palette already.
Just a white frame, even that thick, feels less noticeable. The current solution makes it more readable thanks to the overlapping...
Plus you just threw away 'Flat / Gradient' buttons, which have their use. And these can apply both to fill and stroke! Doubling these will feel as clutter.
