An error occurred while saving the comment Paul, any issues with later builds?
An error occurred while saving the comment Audri, if you go to Preferences > General and check 'Use legacy "File New" interface' — does the dialog appear when you try again?
Just to understand if Ai fails completely to create a document, or is it only the modern dialog misbehaves. An error occurred while saving the comment Does it work if you don’t copy anything?
If yes — does it matter what you copy? a text, a vector art?An error occurred while saving the comment So it works, good. It’s not an actual solution, since these dialog don’t display thumbnails for recent templates and docs, but it’s fast and I prefer it to the shiny modern one.
> Is there a way to have this window as it's set by default?
Not sure if I get it. You mean you like this one better than the modern one? When you check the 'Use legacy "File New" interface' option in Preferences — this is the dialog you will always get from now on for File > New and Ctrl+N.
Or do you refer to the templates folder you wish to always get opened? An error occurred while saving the comment But what about the legacy option, the #3? Can you create new files using the previous version of the File New dialog?
An error occurred while saving the comment Tina, some questions.
1. Does it help to erase A4 form the search field at the bottom?
2. Does it help to switch form Recent section at the top to Print? Does that section have anything in it?
3. As a workaround — does it help to open Preferences and toggle 'Use legacy "File New" interface' option and then try to create a new document again? An error occurred while saving the comment I wonder if enabling 'Use Legacy File New interface' in Preferences > General helps.
Also, please check if hitting Ctrl/Cmd + Alt +N works to instantly create a new document with no dialog shown, and if assigning a custom hotkey for the 'File > New' in Edit > Keyboards Shortcuts allows then to call it (to see if there is a problem with the modern dialog itself, or just its hotkey). -

An error occurred while saving the comment Illustrator offers a variety of effects that can be applied to any art, with numerous graphic styles available — if not from the box, then via web resources.
Most of styles offered by TypeStyler were raster based ones, something Photoshop excels in instead of Illustrator.
Perhaps it was not about styles, but some other aspects of TypeStyler?
If you still want this, please provide more details. 'Make A like B' hardly ever works... the answer is usually 'use B then' :) -

An error occurred while saving the comment A workaround is to use a script by Sergey Osokin:
https://github.com/creold/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/jsx/RememberSelectionLayers.jsx
Should be run before using Free Transform or Puppet Warp tools for objects on different layers and then again after completing (and ungrouping the resulting group first).
Won’t work with sublayers. An error occurred while saving the comment A related request:

An error occurred while saving the comment I see. Now I can confirm it. Whenever you distort a selection with any mode of the Free Distort tool (except for just scale), objects get flattened in the current layer. Here is a simpler demonstration in the GIF attached.
I’ve checked this behavior in older versions: happens in CC2022, does not happen in CS5. So it got broken somewhere in the middle.
Thank you for bringing this up!
An error occurred while saving the comment This is something weird!
Can you please create a simple test file, record the problem on video, and share both the file and the video here?
Also provide the specs. -

An error occurred while saving the comment This is a variant of T-junction problem, a well-known one in the field.
Despite several papers were published on the topic (like this one from 2015 — https://cecilialeiqi.github.io/vectorization.pdf) it was never properly addressed by Ai team. Seconded this.
I hope this request would help to grab more attention!

An error occurred while saving the comment Amazingly, the UserVoice’s automatic profanity filter found something wrong with both words used in the comment you left.
So it is something odd with these two. I can’t even tell what these were, but this basically answers your question — these words ARE perceived by some filters as inappropriate. Use synonyms then.An error occurred while saving the comment ...so what was the prompt, Patricia?

Do you still have the issue?
Can you please provide a test file and a screenshot of the problem? ideally a video to show before/after.
I’m not getting it exactly based on the description. Do you mean toggling the Preview mode in Layers by clicking a layer’s visibility 'eye' icon with Cmd/Ctrl held?
