This fix is included in Illustrator v29.8.2.
If you reopen files that were not saved while the font change issue was present, the problem should no longer occur.
Please let us know if you continue to experience the issue in any new files created with v29.8.2.

The fix is available in both Beta 27.9 9 and Prerelease 29.6 191 builds. Please try to test it and comment back if it now behaves as expected

Unfortunately I can't upload anything to this site anymore, every time I try to attach a file I get an error 422. So I can only tell you how to replicate the error.
Create a new CMYK file in Illustrator 29.4. Add a colored rectangle, use a 4-color psd as an opacity mask rectangle. Duplicate the rectangle itself in the same position. Select everything and rotate it. Save the file, close it and reopen it. If you save it with a pdf preview, the problem is also visible in the preview itselfAn error occurred while saving the comment Mario

Doing some tests I realized that the problem also occurs with files made directly in Illustrator 29.4. They seem ok until they are saved and reopened.
If I embed the images there are no problems, but when I unembed them the problem occurs againMario

59 votesThe issue is believed to be fixed in the latest Beta build and is expected to be pushed into the Global Availability build at the end of July.
To ensure this indeed fixes the problem, please install the latest Beta build from CCD app and try to reproduce it, following the steps provided by Ton in a comment within the report.
Please reply back if Beta works for you or not.

I did some tests and version 29.7 doesn't seem to have the problem.
