    Hi All,

I am not able to reproduce this issue at my end. Would it be possible for you to share the file with me if it is happening in some file consistently? you can share it on sharewithai@adobe.com and tag me in the mail

    Thanks
    Anish

I have a whole group of objects that are always visible even when the 'eye' icon in the layers panel is toggled on and off. ie I can't hide these objects

Good luck with getting Adobe to listen and actually fix this. This bug has been there for years and years and Adobe have been aware of it for years and years but as with most things, Adobe simply doesn't care about fixing bugs any more.

    Update:
OK, now this is a Major problem.
With the file I posted the screenshot from I can't hide the rectangular shape at all, it is always displayed on screen no matter what I do!
I have closed the file, re-saved as a new file, gone in and out of Outline view numerous times, rebooted etc etc etc
And still the shape is still being displayed on screen!!! I don't want to delete the shape because it would be difficult to recreate.

This is a major problem in the software and is making Illustrator unusable (as well as other major bugs).
Need a very quick fix Adobe. Paying very high subscription fees I expect a seriously professional piece of software, not something with basic errors like this that make you look like pathetic amateurs.

Can I get a reply from Adobe staff please. This is a major bug and I have already told you what needs doing to fix it. What is happening, is someone working on this or is it just going to be ignored?

    Update:

I've found the Root cause of the Bug which causes missing corner widgets on expanded shapes - so should be easy for your engineers/coders to fix now I've done half their job for them...

    Problem:

When Illustrator expands a shape with an inside or outside stroke (not a centred stroke) it creates an extra, redundant anchor point in one or more corners.

For instance, when a rectangle with an inside or outside stroke is expanded, the resulting compound shape has 2 paths formed from the stroke (an inner and outer rectangle).
The top left & bottom left & bottom right corners of both paths have 1 anchor point each and a corner widget, which is exactly what should happen.
However the top right corners of both the inner and outer paths have 2 anchor points each instead of 1. In each corner the extra anchor point is in exactly the same position as the correct anchor point - ie. one anchor point lies directly on top of the other anchor point - so that the top right corners of both the inner and outer paths look like normal corners but in fact technically they are not corners since the path joins 2 anchor points in the same position. This is why there are no corner widgets.

    Workaround:

Delete/Remove the extra anchor point from the corner (this may create an open path, if so then close the path)

The corner is now repaired and the missing corner widgets appear.

Thank you all for reporting this issue and providing us your valuable feedback.

What we have found out so far is that this issue can happen in multiple workflows. For clear tracking, validation and closure. We will closing this thread for given below two scenarios which we believe are fixed now:

1)Double click any Ai file to launch Illustrator
2)Placing files in Illustrator via Bridge.

For two other scenarios that we know of that can cause this, we have created a separate thread :https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/39220189-ai-displays-the-start-screen-on-opening-the-file-a .If you are encountering the below mentioned issues with latest Version (24.0.1 on Mac and Win), then please vote on newly provided User voice thread and provide Test File via File→Package, Video and steps via dropping email at sharewithai@adobe.com along with this thread link so that we can identify and fix the root cause.

    1. On opening a file in Illustrator the START SCREEN do…

Get exactly the same problem every time I try to launch Ai by double-clicking an Ai file.
    Illustrator 22.1, macOS Sierra

Seriously, how could nobody notice this while building the release? It's not like it's hard to spot. If I presented work like this to clients they'd look at me like I was a totally incompetent monkey and I'd be sacked.
