An error occurred while saving the comment Rob Hutchings commentedAlso need a way to convert type on a path text back to regular point text. And while this is being looked at we definitely deserve that long requested ability to use multiple lines of text along a single path!

The ability to convert outline text into live text will be available through the 'Retype' feature we recently shipped. The released version can identify fonts for now. Soon it will allow you to edit it as well. More details: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/retype.html

An error occurred while saving the comment Rob Hutchings commentedI've been using the ArcGIS Maps for Adobe plugin which for some unknow reason likes to use type on a path for it's basemap labels, even when the label doesn't need to follow a path!
Quite often I've noticed several labels coming in with a red cross symbol highlighting that the path isn't long enough to show all the text.
This has made me very aware of some missing functionality in Illustrator, that of being able to revert Type on a path text back to point text.
Currently to do this, I need to double click the text to enter edit mode, CTRL+A to highlight it all, CTRL+C, exit editing path text, click somewhere using the text tool and CTRL+V to paste that text.
It would be much easier to have an entry in the Type menu for converting this text back to regular point type. I appreciate that where text follows a path it may be questionable where to unravel the text to. Here I would suggest that the text start anchor be the logical point of insertion for regular horizontal type text, especially if multiple paths have been selected for conversion back to point type.

There are now several separate requests made, based on the feedback in this thread:
1. Regarding adjustable color and opacity for 3D shadows:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47054086
2. Regarding presets for each tab in 3D and Materials panels: Object, Materials, Lighting:
http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47350001
All those who commented on the topic until October 16, 2023, are already added as voters there. If this is something you want to have for 3D and Materials in Illustrator — please upvote it. If possible — create new requests and bug reports about 3D, rather than commenting here inside. This will help the team to better prioritize efforts on making the feature better. As always — thanks for the feedback! It helps.
An error occurred while saving the comment Rob Hutchings commentedAny chance of adding gimbal like control like in classic where you could grab the cube to adjust? The overlay UI on the artwork is fine initially when your artwork is flat but as soon as you rotate along an axis they become confusing since movement no longer correlates to what the icons represent.

An error occurred while saving the comment Rob Hutchings commentedI came to add this feature request but you've beat me to it by nearly 3 years @Egor so I'll add my voice here instead ;)
A lot of times you need to pick up artwork from other files. The option to add selected colours to the swatches panel helps heaps with this type of workflow. The feature enhancement requested here would go a step further in this scenario as they seem to get added in a really jumbled up, haphazard way.
Heck! I'd be happy if it only got me 80-90% of the way there in terms of sorting by an approximation of colour similarity as that sure beats starting from scratch.
But ideally if you could get it so once sorted our swatches appeared like when you open a Pantone swatch book that'd be perfect ... Cheers!

An error occurred while saving the comment Rob Hutchings commentedI'd like to be able to continue working in cloud document mode whilst having the option to periodically save an offline copy. Using save as converts the active document to an offline version which means you then need to reopen the cloud copy to get back to where you were. It's strange that this is not possible.

This one kinda sits up there along with Adobe's refusal to allow text to be set for vertical alignment.
If they allowed you to have multiple lines of text against one path when using 'Type on a path' they would then have to allow you to set whether the text was aligned to Top, Middle or Bottom ... and they couldn;t possibly permit that as we would then have a work around for the years old issue which they continue to ignore!
