It would be even better if this was not an option but the text would translate/merge correctly when imported.

This may not be the solution you are looking for, but until Adobe addresses this, perhaps creating your own "guides" with the pen tool in their own layer would solve this? The line-guides can be any color you want.

Export wrong size.ai 155 KB
61 votesThis issue is probably happening because the artboard dimensions are not appropriate for raster export (i.e. are in decimals).
If you make x and y values as the whole numbers in the transform panel (not in decimal), then the extra pixels will not be added to the exported image. That is the workaround, and it’s reported that it’s not always the case.
At the same time — Ai knows the size of artboards to be exported and yet it does not deliver the set sizes, which is not fair. The team is going to rethink the algorithm.

This may not be the solution you are looking for, but this can be solved (in both Illustrator and PS) by cropping the unwanted "rim".

This also creates "error" messages in some instances. Glad to see this request and am voting for it.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the feedback. The color yellow has been removed altogether as a layer color, and has been replaced by Magenta color for Layer 5. This functionality is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.
What’s new in 24.1: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback.

Other than just removing the yellow layer color, how about making it a preference/option to have all new layers with the same light blue (or custom color)?

Live preview of color is now live in Illustrator 27.1.1, for Color Picker dialog, Color panel, Properties and Control panel, and Appearance panel.
It works in GPU mode only.

Thank you Ashutosh (and team) for addressing this quickly and for providing a solution before official release.

Note: having GPU Performance on or off in the settings does not help.

Agreed. Would like to keep my "Remove Redundant Points" option, instead of having to open the options panel and re-click the box each time I start Illustrator.
In fact, all optional selections, no matter how obscure in the tools and UI, should be retained. -
