    So it’s obviously not fixed, and we all know it.

    While the cursor gets changes into the horizontal/vertical two-headed arrow, the center handles for the bounding box indeed don’t appear, if the width/height of the art (here just an orthogonal line) is small enough.

    Please continue to share you thought, screenshots, GIFs. It’s time to re-review this again.

    Sorry to hear that you are facing this issue. Looks like you have ‘Show Edges’ option disabled. Goto View→ Show Edges and it will enable the outlines.

    I have found that the view > show edges (Ctrl-H) preference has started to occasionally reset itself. Perhaps this is what's happening to you?

    It certainly caused me a few all-caps moments before I figured out what it was...

    I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.

    Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

    This one is clearly not resolved and we should all agree Illustrator doesn’t offer a bulletproof way to disable all the promotions and advertisements about new features. No matter how cool any new feature is, we should be able to never get popup messages, unless they directly relate to our own artwork.

    Please share, comment, and upvote this, to inform the team about how important it really is.
