So it’s obviously not fixed, and we all know it.
While the cursor gets changes into the horizontal/vertical two-headed arrow, the center handles for the bounding box indeed don’t appear, if the width/height of the art (here just an orthogonal line) is small enough.
Please continue to share you thought, screenshots, GIFs. It’s time to re-review this again.
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedWhy does it take years for things to get fixed??? Especially things that used to work flawlessly—often for decades? I do not understand the devolution of this product, but the program I once loved has turned into a constant frustration that hampers productivity. I’m not exaggerating in the slightest. I’ve tried for years to get issues addressed…through customer service, through this seeming useless User Voice Forum…and even having conference calls with engineers. Do you just not give a sh*t about your customers anymore? Actions sure seem to point that direction. You really, really need to work with consultants who use your programs in a daily basis. Please, God. You have become so distant and out of touch and it’s painfully apparent. How do users actually get a voice that y’all will listen to????
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedI'm so tired of the updates with no real improvements. The Illustrator user experience is absolute garbage. I was working on an old computer this past weekend that was using cs5...it's vastly superior in so many ways. I really enjoyed using it....
How the **** do you ruin a program like they have?
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedits fixed for lines in Illustrator 2020, but it still doesn't work if you have a slender rectangle. It also still lacks any precision if/when you want to manipulate the shape. Like if you want to adjust the size and want to grab a corner, good luck...its going to try to rotate instead. Its so f*cking frustrating. These problems used to not exist. Adobe, why won't you pay attention to the needs of your users instead of trying to keep adding bells and whistles. Fix the ******* problems that have been here for years first....and get rid of the problems you've unnecessarily created...then, feel free to add new, useless ****.
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedWhen was it fixed? Mine sure as hell isn't. I'm running 23.0.6.
This is just one of dozens of unresolved bugs that did not exist prior to CC.
God, I hate Adobe. Using illustrator makes me want to punch someone in the face. Precision has disappeared. Selection tools are garbage.
The type tool has been problematic for a decade and never gets addressed.
And don't get me started on the way Adobe fonts work, or don't work, in the programs.
I long for the days when Adobe didn't suck.
"Fuck you, pay me" seems to be the current Adobe business model.
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedAh yes, the workarounds we must employ to achieve the functions that were once so simple. I guess this will be the new normal since Adobe has done nothing but ignore its users. None of the engineers seem to actually use the deteriorating products that they force us to use. Frustrating, problematic garbage...
Raghuveer Singh, do you have anything to add after 8 months? Any progress?
I'll take your silence as an official "F*ck off" from Adobe. Just keep taking our money and ignoring your customer base. Great business model...
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedIm calling bullsh*t on the whole User Voice platform. Adobe created a system to placate their customers by letting them feel like they have some kind of say/feedback. Then, they do nothing about the problems. Illustrator has become a cluster*ck. The precision and selection tools that used to work so well are now problematic garbage that actually hinder productivity. I'll often try to perform a simple action a dozen times before I get the outcome I need...I'm talking simple things like trying to rotate a shape, round a corner or place objects precisely. This is just the tip of the iceberg, too. I could go on for hours.
Adobe doesn't give a f*ck about you or me. That just want our money. There's no real competition and they literally don't have to do anything. They have become beholden to their shareholders and forsaken their customers. I used to love my Adobe programs. Now, I HATE them. Using Adobe products is a frustrating and aggravating user experience.
I anxiously await your downfall. Thanks for nothing, Adobe...
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedStill under review. Ha!
How do we get legitimate issues addressed, Adobe?
Ever thought about employing consultants who actually use your programs?
The b*llshit way you are running things isn't working.
I would welcome someone at Adobe to contact me.
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedUpdate, but no fixes that I can tell....
I wonder what perfectly good features you've f'd up now??
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedIt's getting worse, not better.
When you're a monopoly, I guess you don't have to give a **** about your customers. Just force them to take whatever garbage you throw at them.An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedI used to love Illustrator, now, I HATE it. Since the switch to CC, it's been problematic and buggy and nothing ever seems to get fixed. In fact, the entire program has gotten worse over time and it's obvious that Adobe doesn't give a **** about its customers.
The overall lack of precision and the issues with the selection tools are driving me insane. I have to repeat movements numerous times and/or have to zoom in hundreds or thousands of percent to do complete the simplest of tasks...like scaling or adjusting width/height. Illustrator wants to rotate the shape instead, or randomly switches the selection tool to the direct selection tool when attempting to manipulate the object.
And what happened to all 9 of the selection points on objects??? Say I have a skinny, horizontal rectangle and I want to adjust the width. The middle selection point has vanished and I have to zoom in, interrupting my work flow, to do the simple task. I've been using this program since the 90s. This has been this way the past few versions of Illustrator.
I hate using this program now. It literally makes me angry because it has become such a frustrating cluster*ck. And these few issues are just the tip of the frustration iceberg.
I'm paying a premium for an inferior product/service because Adobe has a virtual monopoly. As soon as any real competitor comes along, I'm out.
Please do something about this piece of ****. Stop adding bells and whistles and fix the issues that have been plaguing the program for years. The type tool, for one glaring example, has been terrible for a decade.
Thanks for nothing,
Brian Stokes

Cmd/Ctrl + Space does not enable the Pan tool, it enables the Zoom tool. But Alt/Opt now does enable the Pan while editing a text — use this instead.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedHey Kayla. I'll speak on behalf of Adobe since they won't do or say anything.
You don't matter and they don't care. Obviously.
All we can hope for is that a competitor that actually gives a shi*t about their customers will step in and make a better product. I'm switching over to other programs and apps where I can. There are so many issues with Adobe products now and their customers have become an afterthought. It seems like all they really care about is their shareholders and lining their pockets. Good luck to you
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedAs Adobe's unofficial spokesman, I'd like to respond:
F*ck all of you and deal with it.
Thanks, and keep paying us,
AdobeAn error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedAdobe says, "F*ck you. You're going to keep paying us and you'll take whatever garbage we want to give you."

As per the comment, you can adjust the Pathfinder precision in Pathfinder Options dialog, accessible from the Pathfinder’s panel flyout menu. The higher the value, the less accurate the result is going to be. Lesser values gives more precision, but it can lead to many 'residuals'. The default value is 0.028 pt, but you might try something like 0.01 pt and see if it works better.
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedWhy is the pathfinder tool imprecise in the latest version of illustrator? It leaves trash behind, creates extra nodes, distorts what were precise shapes, and just doesn't work like it once did? What gives Adobe?
Here is one example....of what happened when I used the unite function. Why can it not create a perfect circle? How did you break the tool. Stop adding **** to your programs and fix the problems, PLEASE.
Feel free to contact me directly. Please do. Do something...

An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedExactly, Doug Millhoff.
Illustrator is devolving instead of improving. I've just spent an hour making adjustments to a file that literally should have (and previously WOULD have) taken 10-15 minutes. Thanks, Adobe.
An error occurred while saving the comment brian stokes commentedGreat. Glad to hear that your listening and addressing the issues. Now, how do we get the much bigger problems and ongoing issues addressed? Like the major issues with the precision and selection that have plagued illustrator since (around) the introduction of CC?
I'd still love to speak to someone directly!

Has anyone discovered how to improve any of this? it's still f*cking garbage after years of issues. It actually impedes my workflow and I spend valuable time repeating movements/selections just to accomplish basic functions that were once flawless. This is my livelihood and these are my tools and everything seems to have gotten progressively worse—and when I do contact Adobe, nothing EVER gets resolved. I used to love my adobe products, now I hate using them most of the time—especially Illustrator where I spend 85% of my time working. God forbid that adobe ever consults with the people actually using their products on a daily basis to fix anything. Problems just go ignored for years. Awesome
