We are working towards giving preference to Photoshop for editing linked images, if Ps is installed. This may mean the label showing as ‘Edit on Photoshop’ when an linked image is selected. The change does not affect OS level file type associations.

Agree, please add for all Adobe applications. I recall there at one time there was edit with (drop-down menu with options). I don't want to launch Photoshop just to look at a jpeg.

Yes, I'd like to see the same robust accessible options available. I produce Scientific posters etc. using Illustrator for the Federal Government and have to manually produce accessible content after exporting to illustrator which by the way some times applies correctly but most of the time there are issues especially when you have a background image.

This is what Illustrator is capable of now with Preferences > GPU Performance options turned on.
It should work for both linked or embedded images, vector or raster, exactly as you described.
If it does not happen for you — please report it as a bug, and provide screenshots or screen recordings of the behavior, along with full OS and app specs.

I am happy to share that ‘Auto spell-check’ feature has been shipped in the latest version of Illustrator. Here is how to enable/disable it in the latest release : https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/whats-new/2020.html#spellcheck

New to windoze, why doesn't spell check follow to the word so I can see what I'm correcting? Does this work for Macs or am I thinking of InDesign. If so, any chance you can have spell check move to where the word in question is?

Lordy, after 38 years using a Mac, I now have to use a PC and am completely lost without Mac equivalents like this in Windoze.
