possibility to open AI and PDF files in AI
I am working on color files for shoes using Illustrator in multi-page. It would be great if I wouldn't have to share the files.
But we are several people using the files, with different versions of AI, or for some of us only Acrobat.
So what happens very often and drives me crazy is that I can't open files (incl my own) in multi page, and even if I can open page by page (and waste a lot of time putting them back together) it is with a lot of clipping masks created by the app and which make it…2 votes -
Save PDF and rasterize one layer
It will be great if we can choose some layers to be auto rasterized when exporting to pdf. I keep very complex paterns in a different layer and always need to manually rasterize it to get a light pdf and error free on Rip software.

Enclose Meta to png saved for web
Please enable to add meta data to png saved for web out of AI. It is not a practible way to open AI in Photoshop and export there a png with meta data. If you create images, e.g. for a website this extra work cause additional steps and waste precious time!
I learnd that this was possible in older versions of AI, but since years this option is missing!3 votes -
More exporting options, without disgusting failures, even mini files in size cannot be saved at more than 300 PPI , irrespective sys config.
Please try to limit error messages first, as it is very disgusting, then with high end systems in hand, illustrator commonly fails at exporting, even the tiny sized files not being exported with high resolutions i.e., more than 300 PPI specified as "other"

Pulling content (text, etc) from a database into a layered template
Ideally, it would be advantageous to manage a database of content (like SQL) that could then be linked to content in Illustrator files. In that way, changes to the database such as address could then automatically change in the associated Illustrator files. I don't know if this is something already developed and if so, I'd love to hear more about it. I've heard about the Datamerge function, but I don't quite know all of its capabilities. I'd appreciate any comments on whether that is a viable solution. Thank you.

SVG export: Universally-unique class names for internal CSS or option for prefix token.
AI's auto-generated class names are only file-unique. Collisions occur if different exported svgs are inlined in the same container (html) document. This prevents a primary way of using SVGs on the web.
Suggest an option (or default behavior) where class names are universally unique, or where a file-name or user chosen token is prepended to classnames.

Auto extension saving
Since 90% of the time, you need to rename or edit a title. It would be a time saver if you could name as well select the correct format directly from the "save as" selection name field. ex: You type image1.png, Then the "format" would automatically change itself to the correct "PNG" format (so you don't need to do that as well). Of course, this would be on all.

Adobe Illustrator asks you to Save when no changes were made?
Why does Illustrator, for the past many years, ask you to Save when no changes were made? Makes me think I accidentally did something or forgot that I did something. If nothing was changed, Don't ask to Save....please.

Cannot save eps with opaque background
Cannot save eps with opaque background. Have transparency set to Opaque. Have save as EPS options set to Opque background. Will only save with transparent background.

In the "Export for Web" menu, i feel a .ai option would be cool
I'd love to be able to export all at once:
png
jpg
psd
svg
and ai, without having to use seperate menus, this'd be awesome as it'd save me alot of time1 vote -
<critical bug> can open same file. that means lose data anytime.
This is critical bug and cause my job lost many times. When I using illustrator with unsaved, I can open same file . That means I can lose the data. I remember there were alert if I open same file or can not open for old version.
For example, Photoshop can not open same file if I use the data. So photoshop does cover this issue. Please fix this bug asap !! Thank1 vote -
Export just one artboard in 1-2 clicks
I want to be able to QUICKLY select an artboard as PNG, or JPG and export with 1-2 clicks. Ideally one click. Not the current 10-30 clicks

Save for web SVG
Seems like when I Save for web that I should be able to choose SVG and be able to manage export options from there. That way when I use a shortcut to save for the web it helps me skip several steps to export when I'm thinking about saving a graphic for the web.

Damaged ai files
Hi there
My files keep getting damaged when saving them in illustrator
it seems to be a recent issue only after the last month. I had advice the other day from adobe support to save the files to my desktop as saving to my work server may be the issue - why then never before. My colleges need to be able to access these files too so it's pointless continuously saving to my desktop. This is soooooo FRUSTRATING and I'm getting really annoyed. We pay a large amount of money for the adobe suite. This should be making my life…1 vote -
Overprint simulation on image file exports (JPEG for example)
I think that it would add great value when Illustrator exports to image file the option to add overprint simulation, in the same way as InDesign easily does.
I would add great benefit to our jobs and would simplify some steps (not going to InDesign just to do that).9 votesIllustrator respects the overprint when exporting raster files. Please follow the instructions in comments and reply back if it does not work for you.

The option to import PDF comments in InDesign is a great feature.

metadata
Please update the ability to add metadata to a file, similar to the way you can with Adobe Lightroom Classic. The current file info feature is difficult to understand and you have to drill way down to get your information into the metadata.
The ability to create Metadata presets that you can easily apply to files. The metadata preset would include:
- Basic file information
- IPTC Content, Copyright, Creator, etc. info

Which profiles should be used when viewing pdfs?
Hi, today I had a problem like this:
I created a pdf from an illustrator file, it was a montage of many labels only in black.
Then visualizing them with acrobat pro with "fogra 27" was perfect, but my service used "fogra 39" and the black was split into CMYK.
Then, by ripping the pdf to make the plates, black was displayed only in black.
Which profiles should be used when viewing pdfs?

Preserve the transparency (opacity %) when a file is exported.
If I want to create overlays (think of Instagram filters), I want to be able to preserve the opacity %. So that I can take this overlay and place it over other images.
The way it works currently is if I export the object and place it on another image, all the transparency is lost and the object is set to 100% opacity.1 vote
