It would be helpful if you made allowable suggestions, such as, " paint in clipping paths not allowed, convert to paint group now."<
If you're not going to make your paint feature natural or useful, then you could provide allowable suggestions. Suggestions such as, " Paint in clipping paths not allowed, convert to paint group now," then you would click yes or no to convert. Instead, you have created an information loop Where your customers have a problem, you acknowledge the problem, and send your customers on their way to find their own solutions to solve that problem. A problem you have created in the first place. This would be a very helpful feature for you to add.

Dotted lines
Could not find a good way to reach a simple final goal, also asked to support with little results: would be nice to draw dotted lines with brush tool.
Just simple ones as I can do in Photoshop, I'd love to do that in Illustrator too.
Sounds weird it is not already doable!

Gradient annotator as a palette and snap to gradient points
Allows you to then retain the annotator when dragging guides or other objects, and using other tools. Could work in a similar way to the Tabs palette.
Also it would be really useful if you could snap objects or guides to the gradient points on the sliders.

Possibility of recording "key object" by action
It would be great to have possibility to record in action "key objects", because it's very hard to do an alignment between objects by actions without this one especially if you want align to the edge of objects.

Shape fill colour and path not aligned in GPU view
When GPU view is turned on (which is often necessary as Illustrator now runs so slowly in CPU), the fill colour of objects isn't completely aligned to the path. This makes it extremely difficult when working with anchors. It is only an appearance issue and is resolved when you switch to CPU view, however could this be resolved in GPU?

Play actions in Button mode
If it would be possible to add a shortcut, or a way, to press "Play" button in action tab, from button mode.
Having multiple actions is easier to handle in button mode, but it is unable to use more complicated actions for example with stops, because there is no play, and way to adjust shortcut for it, so you need to be in standard mode.2 votes -

Save for web SVG
Seems like when I Save for web that I should be able to choose SVG and be able to manage export options from there. That way when I use a shortcut to save for the web it helps me skip several steps to export when I'm thinking about saving a graphic for the web.

Press Shift (for proportion) turn Arrow
When Pressing Shift (for proportion drawings or scaling) turn Arrow or Current used tool to Red (now in InDesign and others it's White for Snap to Page edge).
In addition turn to other colors for other new thinkable functions (i.e Command + Shift = Green, etc) gives a user a reminder on screen to what he is using on keyboard. Could be the colour of the layer-color used or... I leave it to you guys :-)2 votes -
Respect 'Decimal Places' setting in CSS values exported to SVG
The "Decimal Places" setting in the SVG Options (export) dialog is not respected in style elements.
Steps to repro:
New Document
Create a rectangle with Stroke 3.1459
Create a new graphic style from the rectangle.
Save As... Choose SVG
In SVG Options, set Decimal Places:1 and CSS Properties as Style Elements
Examine SVG Code
Look at the 'stroke-width' value in the stylesheet.
Expected behavior: Stroke width should have 1 decimal only
Actual behavior: Stroke width is 3.1459.2 votes -

Illustrator works terribly with the Microsoft stylus.. both the interface needs to be completely overhauled to work with touch
Illustrator needs a complete overhaul in order to work as a touch interface with a stylus... the 'touch' workspace is a step in the right direction but needs more features including layers.. also the performance is terrible in working with a pressure sensitive stylus and results in misleading line weight lagging and locking up and freezing.. I am using the surface pro (5)

Illustrator file not movable
If i make an Illustrator file (cc 2019) , and say place it in the desktop folder, if i move that file to the documents folder, open it and change it, it saves the new version on the dekstop again.
is this a bug or a feature i dont know of?
2 votesIt’s a common behavior for all files and all editors out there, not only Illustrator.
When you 'open' a file, the editor reads it and 'hold in its mind', making a virtual copy basically. When you save it, it writes it back the disk, to the location where it was read from. Illustrator does not track what the OS does with the file, and OS never tells Illustrator that a user moved the file elsewhere, or deleted.
An editor can lock the file, so nothing can move or delete or rename it, but this method causes more troubles and frustration. It’s safer to never let the data to get lost.

Accents / Diacritics accessibility
i'm using Illustrator and I need to type in Portuguese/Spanish so i need to use accents like áàê
Everywhere else on Mac OS if I long press the key I get an accent pop up, like this:
In Illustrator, this never shows up.
I know there are workarounds (glyphs window, other mac shortcuts and keyboard viewer) but none of those is practical.
That accent pop up is shown everywhere else in the system except for Illustrator, which is very frustrating2 votes -
Keeping my tool preference
Since Adobe's CC platform, I actually dread major updates because they seem to wipe my user preferences forgetting all my shortcuts and forcing me behavioural changes each and single updates.
The latest was the disappearance of Illustrator knife tool from my tool set. Little did I know that the knife tool is under advanced tool section, and that I needed to switch to my tool to advanced mode in order to use the knife tool. There may have been other nifty Adobe ways to access it, but I just simply don't have time to relearn all that stuff.
Adobe, let's imagine this in our analogue world,
I as a practicing artist / tenant often fighting and trying to meet client deadlines, one day walk into my studio and notice all my setup (brushes, canvas, paints etc arrangements) had been rearranged by you, the studio landlord. You broke into my studio and did all that like some heartless landlords might do these days even though I pay my rent in full and on time each month. Perhaps because you fancied your studio building renovation so you can jack up the rent for new comers.I hope you can understand how annoying this is to me? The least you can do is to leave my stuff alone and keep my user preference in tact. To be honest I think you are asking for users' behavioural changes way too often with your products.

After Effects Style Point Manipulation in Illustrator
In After Effects you can select points within a path, double click, then transform just those points (around a movable centre of axis).
Very quick and useful tool.
I don't understand why Illustrator can't do this.

Extra clicks in Properties
Why I need to click the More Options to access all the Pathfinder functions in Properties? There's plenty of space. I don't understand this change.

When zooming in in 23.0.3 what I am zooming in on disappears and takes several seconds to load. Frustrating & time wasting.
When zooming in in 23.0.3 what I am zooming in on disappears and takes several seconds to load. It worked fine in the previous version. It also is taking a very long time to open files that used to open quickly.

remove trailing whitespace
I would like to be able to remove trailing whitespace from images in Illustrator. I would use InDesign but I want to be about to use the flexibility of artboards in illustrator.

Keyboard Increment per document type
Under Preferences > General it is possible to set the "keyboard increment" - how far each tap of an arrow key moves the selected art. The problem is, I want this to be different depending on what I'm doing.
It would suit me ideally if I could set the keyboard increment to 5mm when working on a print document (CMYK/300DPI) and 10px when working on a digital document (RGB/72DPI).
