1. Add an option for the Transform effect to use visible bounds of a clipping object

   Transform effect is one of the most powerful thing Ai has, compared to whole Repeats functionality. It’s versatile, it works with anything (unlike Repeats).

   It has some flaws though, and one of them is the fact it always operates on the overall bounds of the objects, even if it is clipped. It can be useful for some cases, but most of the time we treat objects differently.

   Check the image attached.
   This combination of effect options applied to a clipped ellipse should produce a result like the green one at thee right... instead, the object is reflected from the right side of the circle inside, not the mask!

   At the same time, if one decides to flip it from it’s left edge — Ai should not do it from the bounds of the clipping mask, the way it does now, but the circle!

   Again, both can be useful.
   So — please make it as an option!

2. Set save SVG embed images by default

   Problem: I have hundreds of .AI files I have to convert to .svg with "Embed" image. It always defaults to "link". How do I make "embed" default? Suggestions most welcome, Thanks in advance!

3. Enhancing Symbols in Adobe Illustrator

   Dear Adobe Illustrator Team,

   I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my appreciation for the incredible work you've done with Adobe Illustrator and to request a feature enhancement that I believe would greatly benefit the user experience. Specifically, I would like to propose improvements to the Symbols feature, focusing on the ability to change the values of instances, such as text or color, and the inclusion of multiple predefined values, such as night and day themes. Additionally, I would like to suggest improvements to the 9-slice feature, making it more responsive and adaptable to different sizes, similar to Figma components.

   Symbols play a crucial role in streamlining workflows and maintaining consistency within design projects. However, the current limitations in Adobe Illustrator prevent users from easily customizing instances of symbols beyond their placement. By allowing users to modify values of instances, such as text or color, within a symbol, you would empower designers to create dynamic and adaptable designs without sacrificing the benefits of symbol-based workflows. This feature enhancement would significantly improve the efficiency and flexibility of working with symbols, enabling designers to iterate and experiment more effectively.

   Furthermore, introducing support for multiple predefined values within symbols would be a game-changing addition. For instance, having the ability to define night and day themes within a single symbol would allow designers to seamlessly switch between different visual styles, catering to various contexts and requirements. This feature would greatly streamline the design process, eliminating the need for duplicate symbols and reducing the overall complexity of managing design variations.

   In addition to symbol enhancements, I would like to suggest improvements to the 9-slice feature in Adobe Illustrator. Figma components have set a standard for responsive and adaptable design elements, and it would be fantastic to see similar capabilities in Adobe Illustrator. By enhancing the 9-slice feature to automatically adjust and adapt to different sizes, designers would have greater control over scaling and responsiveness, ensuring consistent results across various screen resolutions and devices. This improvement would tremendously benefit UI/UX designers who rely on Adobe Illustrator for their design workflows.

   I genuinely believe that implementing these enhancements to the Symbols feature, along with improving the 9-slice functionality, would elevate Adobe Illustrator's capabilities to new heights. These additions would empower designers to create more efficiently, adapt to changing requirements effortlessly, and produce designs that are both visually stunning and highly functional.

5. Allow to set Shades, similar to how Tints work now

   I'd like to see a Shade option added to global swatches. Currently, we have tint, which adds varying levels of white to the color until you reach 100% white. Shade would act in the opposite direction, adding varying levels of black until you reached 100% black.

   I would envision this working by letting users click the "T" next to the slider in the color palette and having it switch to an "S", with the gradient changing from white on the left to black.

   This would be helpful because I often find myself needing not only lighter hues to work with a color palette but darker ones as well. I rely on creating al new colors or multiplying a black shape on top of the current color one. This does add a layer of complexity to shape selection and color changes with global colors. A global shaded color would update as would any global tinted color.

6. Ability to use CC Library colors directly within Recolor Artwork dialog (without having to create swatches first).

   When recoloring a large batch of individual vector files, it's cumbersome to have to add swatches from CC Library for every single file in order to use those swatches in the recolor artwork dialog. It would be great to use the colors stored in CC Library directly in the recolor artwork dialog.

7. Illustrator Waterfall Charts - support positive & negative values

   Currently, when trying to create a waterfall chart in Illustrator, you can't have values go above & below the zero axis. If you try to enter positive and negative values in one line of the data table, you get an error (Can't create the graph. Each stacked column must contain all positive or negative data.).

   This is needed by lots of Artworkers, especially in Annual Reports, etc.

8. Space or area to collect ideas, a scrapsheet, like Playbook

   Sometimes when creating, brainstorming is a step! So an area for us to put our ideas while working on an idea would be cool. Maybe a tab to place items we could add, like a "shelf" with items we'd like to use on multiple places. I know you have the library right now, but there's a site called Playbook where projects can be organized, it would be great if it was something like this for Adobe rather than a third party.

9. Scale stroke width of multiple points

   I'd like to be able to scale the stroke width of multiple points at the same time, that way they match. That, or copy the stroke width value of one point and be able to paste it onto another.

12. Make Smooth command to have the persist/sticky option

    I like the new Smooth command and I'm using it frequently enough that it would be nice to have a persist/sticky option for it instead of repeatedly going back to the Object menu.

    Also, I find that smoothing of 20% works well for a lot of shapes I'm editing but could the bar be enhanced with a few click-to bars to speed up this process (see attached). Maybe include this for the Simplify command as well.

13. Please allow image tracing of individual colours to individual layers rather than 16 million objects.

    Being able to trace one colour to one layer would make laser cutting so much easier. e.g. 16 colours to 16 layers

14. Increase the precision of illustrator to at least 10 decimal points, fix Place...

    Please increase the precision of Illustrator for placing files such as .dwg from other programs. I noticed the shapes change a lot. Or, change the initial size of the placed file to as large as the artboard. I know you have this option when you drag and drop a file, but you do not have this option when you select File-Place...

16. Drag-and-drop Glyphs to Symbols

    Sort of niche QoL, but it could be great to be able to drag glyphs from the Glyphs panel onto the Symbols panel to create a new symbol automatically. The resulting symbol size could be a ratio based on a preset height or width, set as a preference or panel option, or entered at creation via. a modal.

19. Allow to change the order of appearance attributes for TEXT and set the stroke below the fill in Appearance panel

    When I try to move the "stroke" row in appearance panel to move below the "fill" row, the row returns to previous position on top.
    This is happening to me since the - I think - 11 version of Illustrator.
    Now I have version 27.1.1 and windows 11 pro. Nothing changed.

20. Rename embedded image

    I want an ability to rename an embedded image.
    Perhaps I don’t like the nonsense somebody else used to name it before embedding.
    Or I just want to give it a name in Links, to be able to distinguish them better (and no, renaming an item in Layers does not do that).
