Add Preview tick to Average dialogue
Average dialog can be still confusing, and I personally often use a wrong option when I average points.
For some reason when I choose 'horizontal', I often imagine points to share the same X value, 'occupy the same position horizontally'... Same applies to Y. Sure, this is not what Ai mean, in fact it’s 'stick to the horizontal axis'.
I see both views as valid, and can’t learn it solid enough to never make mistakes. However, Ai can learn and add the sticky Preview checkmark, so I and others were able to see the result before they hit OK.

In Appearance calling alternative color UI is done with Shift and not obvious Alt
For some we have to hold Shift while clicking a fill/stroke square in Appearance panel to call the alternative pseudo-panel.
Alt = Alternative. Sure, Macs have Option instead, but it also fits.Also, the hint has the 'Shift' and 'Color' written in lower-case: 'Hold shift key to bring up alternate color UI'... and I have no idea why 'alternate', why no alternation happens? Who wrote this hint?

Drag tools from one toolbar to another
When I setup tool panels for various reasons), I can’t just drag it between tool panels.
The only way to do it now is to remove the tool first in the first toolbox and add it again in the second one. Each panel has its own Edit mode and tools get dragged only within an edited panel :(14 votes -
Could you please allow to move the color control pop up menu, when adjusting the gradient point?
Have the option to move the pop up menu to different location. Not right on top of the artwork you're trying to fix?

Create a guide trimmed to an artboard
There is a almost unknown way to create guides limited to an artboards — you have to pick the Artboard Tool first, and then drag a guide out of rulers. The resulting guide will be limited to the artboard’s dbounds.
However, we think about it somewhere in the middle of dragging a guide, using other tools... too late in a process!
Can we get a modifier to hold while a guides is dragged out to toggle the global/local guide mode on the fly? Alt is taken to switch horizontal/vertical (and it’s cool), but Shift and Ctrl/Cmd are free and do…

Freeform gradient points copying with Alt+drag
Ai does not apply the Alt+drag paradigm to color stops of freeform gradients. No duplication happens!
We can workaround this, clicking the stop first, and then clicking in a free spot... But this is not OK, because this approach is not used anywhere else in Ai.

Let us set the default color for effects
I know this was changed in a recent release, but instead of just setting the default color for drop shadow to 100%K, let us choose what we want the default to be. Some of us might want rich black instead - or a different color. And please do this for all effects that use colors (Outer Glow, Inner glow, etc..)

Allow Repeat to work on linked and embedded images
Raster images are immune for Repeat functionality.

Let Drop Shadow effects ignore each other
In Photoshop we can have multiple dropped shadows be applied to a single object, and they all get layered upon each other. It gives users flexibility to use different colors, densities, feathering, etc.
In Illustrator, on the other hand, the Appearance works differently. Each new Drop Shadow get applied to the previous dropped shadow. The larger the blur is, the more useless the next shadow gets.
To get a layered shadow the same way we do it in Photoshop, we have to apply each shadow to its own fill.

Layers panel dimensions dynamically resize, or have tools cling to bottom of layers list
When I open a layer, the layer list is quite long so I need a tall panel. However when they're collapsed it's a much shorter list and suddenly the trashcan button is super far away from where I'm working in the layers. It would be nice if the panel automatically resized to keep the toolbar near the list, or otherwise have the toolbar cling to the bottom of the layers list so it's easily accessible when working in that panel. SVG scalable vector export option for use in Microsoft applications
Please include an .svg format without code or mobile device use that will hold clipping, gradients, etc. to use as scalable vector artwork to be placed in MSO applications. This was not an issue in previous versions of Illustrator.
I provide scalable vector artwork from my projects for my clients who work in Microsoft applications by placing "Picture from File" in a PowerPoint Catalog.
When exporting, I get an error message: "Clipping will be lost on roundtrip to Tiny" when opening them back up and the artwork is distorted.

Allow to choose delimiter in Variables
Hi, I need to have the ability to upload a tab separated csv file in the variable window. In Mexico we use commas instead of dots to separate the thousands, that generates a bad reading of the data set. Thanks

グループ内のサブレイヤが非表示でも順序を入れ替えられるようにしてほしい
たくさんのレイヤのグループを作り、各グループのうちひとつを表示して書き出し、という方法で何枚も図面を作ることが多いです。
例えば「1990年」というグループ内に、当時の「道路」「土地利用」「施設」等を入れ、同じように「2000年」「2010年」というグループを作る、等です。
このときに、すべてのグループにおいて「道路」サブレイヤを「土地利用」サブレイヤの上に移動したいとします。
ところが、現状各グループが非表示だとレイヤの上下移動ができません。「1990年」を表示して、レイヤを移動して、「1990年」を非表示にして、「2000年」を表示して、…と面倒な作業を行わなければなりません。移動するレイヤは名前でわかるので、非表示のまま移動できればかかる時間が大幅に減るのに、と思っています。時間短縮のために、グループ内のサブレイヤが非表示でも順序を入れ替えられる機能をつけてほしいです。

AI Reference Guide - Downloadable
I would love to see a return of a downloadable reference guide / user manual. I want the ability to read through it offline, occasionally print the page that's pertinent to my task, and have a book that is physically on my desk (not the desktop).. FYI, on this page (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/faq.html), under Learning Illustrator > Where can I find the manual, the answer is: "You can find web and PDF versions of the Illustrator manual on the Illustrator Help page." I'm still looking for that PDF...

Convert fractions to decimals within the program, not just the new file dialogue box: 116-7/8" to 116.875 in.
We work with various large format sizes given with fractions, but the programs run off decimals. The New file dialogue box will convert them, so why can't this be added to the number fields for artboard and object sizes? Similar to how we can use the "/" to divide by a number when working at 1/4 scale or 1/2 scale.

Double tap keyboard shortcut key to open dialogue box.
This should speed up workflow for advanced users and help students learn tools & access dialogue windows faster.
For example: ‘W’ brings up the blend tool.
‘W+W’ brings up the blend options dialogue‘R’ brings up the rotate tool. ‘R+R’ brings up the rotate dialogue.I understand you can double click the blend toolbar icon to bring up the dialogue, or go to properties to adjust rotation. Why not double tap to stream line the entire process.

Ability to warp more precisely
I work in the label industry and we have to warp artwork for tapered containers.
We find that we need to be between whole numbers of a percent.
Is it possible to have the ability to warp 1.3% without it just rounding down or up to the nearest whole number?

A tint percentage slider in swatch options (like InDesign)
If a tint of a global colour has been added to the swatches the percentage cannot be adjusted. If you double click on the tint it brings up the swatch options panel for the colour the tint is based on, but there is no option to change the tint strength.
Can it be the same as InDesign - when you double click on the tint there is a tint slider available in the swatch options panel?
