Option to disable 'Recent Fonts' feature.
I hate having to scroll from the top of the fonts list every time i'm searching for a new font. Currently, in preferences there is an option for only 1 recent font, however, i'd like to be able to disable this feature completely.
We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 22.1.
Please refer to our knowledge base FAQ – https://illustrator.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1844590 if you face difficulty in update.
Or get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html

I'm having this same problem. It's incredibly annoying and a massive time suck. Would definitely appreciate a fix!

I have this problem too, and it wastes so much time! We want to see the current selected font in its place in the font list. We don't want to scroll down through a 1000 fonts to find it again.

This has also been driving me up the wall! If I'm trying to compare a few fonts against each other I have to keep scrolling back through the entire fonts list to get back to where I was. InDesign does this **** too.

Same problem here. Very frustrating. No improvements only useless redundant tools.

I can't keep my location in the font menu because version 2018 keeps jumping to the top of the font menu. If the last font I selected was Franklin Gothic, I expect to still be at Franklin when I go back to the font menu, but instead, it jumps to the top! I can't arrow down to tryout different fonts any more because it always jumps back to the top.
See attached screen shot. I have Franklin selected, but the font menu jumps be back to the top, not at Franklin and all the other "F" fonts.

Ankit from Illustrator team. Thanks for your answer. Its been under review quite a while now. Any word?
And i understand the need to make every program to link alike. But Indesign has hade that feature a while, but in indesign you can set recently viewed to 0 in Preference>Type. Witch solves the problem. But in Illustrator you can't to that. 1 is the lowest number. And that keeps the problem we all experience. Last but not least, Its not about expanding fontfamilly/group that is the problem we all have. So that is not a solution. -

This has got to be the stupidest, most unproductive update ever. Seriously, do the Adobe programmers actually use Illustrator? When choosing a font for a project most will scroll threw their fonts list. They need to see how a font will look for that project. This stupid recent fonts list take the cursor away from the last font used and then you need to go searching threw the 5,000 installed fonts AGAIN to find where you left off. Serious folks, FREAKING DUMB!!! Go back to the way it was! Illustrator is going downhill FAST! Corels one time fee is looking better and better each time Adobe updates.

completely agree. this is a major headache for me. font menu should show selected font in alphabetical order in the font menu. recent fonts at top is ok,... but i seldom use it. please consider changing this back to the way it was.
