Select all objects on same (sub)layer as selected object
Currently, you cannot select one object and expand the selection to the entire layer, the existing "Select > Object > All on same layers" selects the parent layers as well.
In case objects have different appearances, but reside on the same sublayer, it is much easier to select one object than to search for the appropriate layer in certain situations (especially on large files).3 votes -
Select all objects in view
It should be possible to select all objects that are in view (the selection excludes locked objects).
This is a very useful time-saver in many other applications.3 votes -
Close all other document tabs.
I would find it really useful, if I could right click on a document tab and select "close other tabs" as I often have lot's of tabs open and eventually only want to work on a single tab. Instead of closing all one by one, this could be solved with a single click.

Option to auto-sharp an anchor point when using the pen tool.
By default when making a anchor point with the pen tool it gives you a curve anchor(2 direction handles). I request that we have the option to make it a sharp anchor(1 direction handle).
Currently in order to make a sharp anchor you have to go back and select the anchor again. This is a slow method if you only draw in sharp anchors. By having this new option it will be lot faster and easier to draw in this style.
3 votesYou can do that by holding Alt right after you click the first point with the Pen tool and releasing it after you finish dragging the handle out. This creates legitimate corner point with one hadle.

Select multiple identical objects and make each its own group.
I'd love to see a feature in which you could select a bunch of similar objects, each of which had multiple parts, and it would automatically make each individual object into its own group. For example, I just drew an oval with a line down the middle - which is a leaf. I copied and pasted it 100 times but didn't make it into it's own group first (oops). If I could just select them all and make each it's own group, it would save me going back and grouping them first and doing it all again. They're a pain to work with if they aren't grouped, but they're all the same shape, size, and color, so it should be recognizable which parts make up a leaf, i.e. an individual group.

Would be nice to add an additional document color mode with CMYW or CMYKW
Would be nice to see a feature to include the color white in the document color mode as either CMYW or CMYKW as an addition. There are printers that use all 5 printer color inks. (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, and White)
Special printers that utilize white ink to print onto black (or dark-colored) t-shirts can be useful if white is included in the document color mode in Illustrator. This will play a huge role making white more vibrant from the printer.

Accessibility of tutorial videos, for users with hearing impairment
I am a new creative cloud user and need to use Illustrator as part of my university course so wanted to access the learn ‘how to’ tutorials, but found the video tutorials for Illustrator does not have ‘closed captions’ nor printable version of the text. I checked some of the other Adobe programs within creative cloud and they are the same, so I contacted Adobe online chat who sent me on to an online dedicated adviser. I was then told no accessibility options available for the tutorial videos.
Please could you pass my feedback to Adobe….
Accessibility on the learn 'how to' video tutorials for all Adobe software and features, including Illustrator is very important to enable all users to access and be able to use features efficiently and quickly.
As a creative cloud software user who has a hearing impairment, it would be helpful to have printable text of tutorial videos so they can be read alongside the tutorials or have closed captions, because I can’t hear what is being said,
It is a real shame these are not fully accessible, as it has rendered all the tutorial videos useless for those with hearing impairments.
Please can this be added as a feature on all tutorial videos across creative cloud.
Otherwise, the adobe software looks impressive, it will just take me a lot longer to understand how to use each Adobe software item, and each part of each one.

There are a number of issues with Adobe Libraries - Recovery, Archive, Search
Library backups/Recovery - I have just had an issue of losing a library of over 200+ logos. Whether this was because of a glitch or human error isn’t clear. One thing that is clear is that there is currently no way of recovering libraries.
Archive old libraries - Also we have old libraries which we spent time creating for all of our clients. Half of these clients are no longer working with us, we need to keep their folders incase they re engage with us however they are cluttering up the menu.
Search function - The search function seems useless. All of our files and folders are correctly named and yet they don’t show up in library searches.

migration of templates
Is it possible to create a better migration of templates? Every time I upgrade I have to find the folder that has my custom templates. This is extremely un-user-friendly.
Thank you3 votes -
Pattern... don't expand effects (example transform & symbols)
The new repeat function remains editable in patterns!!! (this is great), but transform effects & symbols get expanded. Keeping these from not getting expanded/flattened would be great.

Set exact dimensions to one object in a group that affects the entire group.
Example: I have 3 squares. 2 large ones and one small one overlapping the two. (see picture)
The task is to set the small red square to exactly 140 x 140 mm without losing the proportions in size or position to the blue or green box.
I want an exact scale up where the end result is that the red square is 140 mm x 140 mm.
I can use rulers, but the small square doesn't snap since it isn't touching the bounding box. Using this I can eyeball it and get a result like 140.062 x 140.062 mm. I need it to be 140 x 140 mm flat. And this method takes time, dragging the size back and forth since the middle square isn’t centered.
Same issue if I were to draw a 140 x 140 mm square and try to match the red one to it. It will snap in one corner of the drawn 140 x 140 mm square guide, but move away from that corner when scaled.
In this example I can of course calculate the increase to 140% and scale accordingly. Works great for this simple example, but it is much more tedious when I want to scale a text for instance or objects with uneven numbers, where I need a stack height to be e.g. 100 mm tall. Here the text often is something like 14.532 mm to start and I have to calculate 100/14.532 = scale up of 688,1365%. Just takes a lot of time.
And for items that needs scaling in two directions I need to make two separate calculations (if I wanted the new dimensions of the square to be e.g 140 x 190 mm)
What I propose is a tool/possibility to use the same technique as when aligning object, combined with the properties tab.
1. I select all 3 objects using shift or simply dragging the selection box over
them.
2. I then click the red box again without holding shift, making it an indicated selection (like when aligning objects)
3. I open up the properties tab. Either the W x H is then changed to show the dimensions of the red box, or a new input area opens up so both the entire groups outer dimensions is shown as well as the dimensions of the red square.
4. I proceed to enter my desired values in the input boxes, setting the new dimensions for the red square
5. The program scales the entire group according to the new set dimensions of the red square.Example: I have 3 squares. 2 large ones and one small one overlapping the two. (see picture)

Better options to layout and save button mode in actions
Allow editing of multiple actions at once: eg shift select a group of actions, go to action settings and set the colour for all. Allow separators in button mode.
This would help me as I have a large number of actions, grouped by the type of illustration I am working on. I usually work in button mode, so segregating by colour allows my to identify actions quickly. If I have to reset my preferences, or reload group actions, it can take nearly an hour to set this up.3 votes -
The Named Views feature should be expanded for more names, listed alphabetically, and be more easily editable..
The Named Views feature is under developed. It is useful for complex drawings with several Artboards and many layers. Its functionality can include several categories of the Illustrator program. Attached is a file with several points of improvement.

Allow Symbol Instances to update during master symbol editing
When making patterns or complex design based on instanced symbols it's vital to see how the seams between repeated symbols update. It would be good to see all instances (in view) update as you're editing a "master", and for the alignment tools to take the other instances into account so you can make pieces align with each other across a grid. Today the instances will only update AFTER you're done editing and it makes for a lot of going back and forth.

Send proof to customer
We proof every item to customers before printing. It would be great if there was a tool to send a proof that could be approved through all common design programs. Giving the customer the ability to submit for changes and do a final approval before the job goes to print.
3 votesRecent versions of Illustrator have an ability to Share for Review.
This command, accessible from the File menu, generates a link you can send to customer to proof the project. Read more about it here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/share-documents-for-review.html

3D Extrude & Bevel shouldn't have a depth and rotation by default
I think it's annoying that every object that I want to apply a 3d effect to already has a 50 pt extrude depth and axis rotation by default + preview option checked.
Sometimes it takes forever to render the preview for something I don't even want, but the preview is checked by default so it immidiatly starts rendering when I open the effect window.
Would be great to open the Extrude & Bevel window with zeros in every field, saves a lot of time, especially when working with complex objects.3 votes -
About Adobe Illustrator Font Microscopic
The Adobe technician I was IMing asked me to go to "About Adobe Illustrator" to read the version I was using and the font was 2pt font. It will not increase using the "Ctrl +" option either. Please save us from needing thicker glasses and make it an 8 pt font at least.
