Yep, the team made some changes into panning, and so far it glitches a bit.
However the description does not match exactly with what I am getting...
Can you please record a short video to demonstrate it? Also please provide you full OS and GPU details.

    Ehimo, please tell more.
Provide some screenshots, a test file, explain details.
The team can’t start investigating based just on 'blend modes are not working' :/
    What is happening exactly?

Yeah, the team is being working to fix this problem :( The latest update (and probably some earlier ones) broke something in the algorithm...
The only workaround so far it to downgrade and wait.

Yeah, I’ve seen this before... sometimes it happens after an update, sometimes when I restores settings... I can’t figure out what causes it and get the steps to get it intentionally.
Does it help to go to Window > Workspace > Reset the workspace?

Giovana, do you still have the file?
If you open Layers — does these show you any objects within?
Can you share the file with the team? Attach it here if you can and want, or send it over to sharewithai@adobe.com directly

Mark, I know how you feel exactly, and the topic is very common.
But Illustrator actually offers some legal ways to workaround these.

Open the New Document dialog and scroll down the right column.
Press More Settings button (is actually open the 'legacy' File New dialog).
In this dialog open up the Profile dropdown. Press Browse at the very bottom.
This will open the Select File dialog. What interest us is the actual folder Illustrator uses to store these document profiles.
These are universal templates that contains all the garbage swatches, styles, symbols, etc, — and you can modify these to delete the fluff and add your own presets.
So — grab the file path. On windows it’s something like this:
    C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 27 Settings\[LOCALE]\x64\New Document Profiles

Close all the dialogs (I merely wanted to show you the long way to discover these).
Open the folder in the explorer.
    Open Print.ai or Web.ai
Delete all the presets you don’t want to keep (Illustrator has a default action to delete all unused presets — )
Add those you need to use.
You probably won’t be able to save these files directly into this folder, so save them as copies (and backup! — Illustrator has a stupide habit of updating these every major update!) and then paste them over the original ones.
You can also add your own profiles, but it’s hard to pick then using the modern New Document dialog.
Done — all new files will now use presets you added into document profiles.

So actually you request is already completed, it’s just it’s now exactly easy to discover.
Same instructions one the Help site: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/create-custom-new-document-profile.html

Please reply back if it works for you.

Somewhat similar problem sometimes happens with Align panel. Despite one method for Align To should be always active, it is possible somehow to get NONE of them selected, all three buttons appear depressed. It leads to all other main buttons just doing nothing. No error pops even.

Vincenzo, please tell more. The problem is not new, happens sometimes for different users, but the cause of it is often different.
Have you installed any utilities or browser extensions recently?
Does it make any difference if you use menu commands for that or hotkeys?
Does it help if you copy several times in a row?
Are you able to copy and paste in other applications?
Does it help if you disable Include SVG Code option in Preferences > Clipboard Handling section?

Agree, these are disabled for me as well on Windows.
Well, this is weird. I almost remember them being available... Perhaps I am confusing them with something else.
TGA also doesn’t not allow artboards being used!

Bev, learning is hard. Also, Illustrator is somewhat old. Despite it gets improved constantly, some paradigms it uses are 30 years old. It has a lot less functions at the start, and reading a manual was the intended way of learning new stuff. Today it does not always work like that, we always in a hurry, we are pampered with Google and instant search, we want interactivity... Reading the manual still works though :)
Discover panel ties to solve this, but I agree the way it works is still not perfect.

Having 'instant' help on any command/cool/thing in Ai can be useful, I agree. In some older apps, I remember, there was a way to click a Help button, located in the top right corner and click anything to get a help article on it.
Another way to get a short hint on something is to hover and wait long enough — this way it won’t interfere with the workflow when you are familiar with a software enough. This method is harder to discover, but it’s natural.
And Illustrator does hos rich tooltips for tools now, if you hover over a tool icon long enough — but not for every other thing.

    To other concerns.

Illustrator can’t guess if a short answer on anything is sufficient specifically for you. It can’t know what your level is. So it gives a full article, and you are free to use any other tool to compress or summarize it to suite your needs, Modern AI-tools (not Ai, but AI) offer a lot of ways to avoid reading. But learning is always hard :) It’s up to you to search, to sieve and reject the parts you don’t need.

Then indeed, if you type in 'stylize' in Discover — it does not provide a separate article on each of existing effects... And the 'Summary of effects' you mentions is not a complete summary and refers to the Photoshop Effects section of the Effect menu... and the only way to get a search function for the article in the Discover panel is to scroll it down until you see a 'Read article in browser'... and the panel does not allow to select a text even. All of these are valid.
Still, the best way to know what each effect does in the Stylize form Illustrator Effects section of the Effect menu — is to try to apply one to an object. Enable preview and play with values.
Again, it does not mean the concerns you raise are bad! It’s just the experimentation is still the best way to learn, and will always be, as we are humans.

Then, the hidden Scissors problem. True, if you have it hidden within the Eraser tool group, Discover won’t show the proper icon, but will highlight the group. Clicking it though will make it active properly — does it for you?
And there is know way to guess if Scissors is in this group, sure. But learning is not guessing, and most of things we learn are not intuitive, since intuition at first is based on a not specific enough knowledge. The more you learn, the more it makes sense for you. Once you learn tools get be grouped, you can learn they are grouped relatively by similarity, they you learn which group has which, then you learn about you can make your own tool panels, then about hidden tools, then you learn you can access them faster with hotkeys, etc.
And honestly, when the team tries to make this process 'easier to learn', with Essentials workspace, hiding some less-used tools, and forcing the previous default, more complex workspace, into non-default Essentials Classic... it gets harder for new users to learn... but this advanced workspace still has Scissors within the Eraser group :)

I wish you all the best. Again, learning is tough. And Illustrator should also learn to become easier to get learned for sure. Compared to modern videogames — a lot.

Bev, just recently Adobe introduced Discover panel, available by calling Help > Illustrator Help (or just hitting F1). I tried searching 'expand' — here is how it looks, see the GIF.
I can see where the associated tools and functions are locate (Illustrator highlights them for me when I hover in the app — not shown). Click the first help article, scroll to Expand section — and here you go, it’s written right there: what does Expand do, how it looks.
You can open the page in the browser if you want.

So I have no troubles answering the Expand question. I re-recorded the GIF once, I admit, to make it look better, but the experience was the very same the first time I tried to search 'expand'.

So — have you seen it? Have you tired it? Does it fit your expectations? If not — why and how? I don’t say it’s perfect, and more improvements can be made, so please tell more about it after testing the Discover.

There is a free script you can use for that:
    https://github.com/creold/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/md/Artboard.md#artboardsfinder
It does exactly the thing you want. If it does not — you can always ask the developer to add more (like regular expressions support — I believe you might want that).
Sure it does not mean Adobe should not add it. So voted.

Stephan, works fine for me, no errors in the latest Ai version.
You should log an issue about this problem directly in the script’s repository here: https://github.com/creold/illustrator-scripts/issues
Please provide some details there, a test file, and your full specs.

Am I right thinking that we all mean the same filter search Photoshop has?

Elisa, when this happens — does it get fixed if you try to disable edges and/or hide bounding box? Both can be toggled via the View menu.
