The bug is reproducible for me 1/20 times on a Mac, sometimes thrice in a row, sometimes like a twelve blank shots. It does not really matter how I select a field — the way Von does it, with a precise swipe, or clicking a caption. It always happens when a entered number is two-digit, and the bug happens when a second digit is entered. The brush stays applied, and the stroke does not get dropped, it’s only the rendered appearance gets bugged out. It does not matter if the brush is an artistic or the pattern one.
But while at Mac it happened like after 5 tries, this still does not happen on Windows for me — I can verify this after like 15 more minutes on different ways to trigger it... making a lot of brush strokes does not help. It is strange that Jason was able to catch it.
I notified the team about this.An error occurred while saving the comment Jason, does not happen to me on Windows with 27.5, no matter what I try. There must me something else to it.
How exactly do you change the opacity for the lines? On a stroke or an object level? Perhaps some specific brushes? Can you share a test file and a short video? -

I’d advise you to completely uninstall it and reinstall again. Have you tried that? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrea, something has gone wrong with the OS integration... Perhaps the best way to approach this would be to uninstall Illustrator and reinstall it back to see if it fixes the paths. Have you tried that?

Well, it’s not as easy as it might think. Illustrator’s model does not treat artboards the same way as Figma deals with frames. Artboards are not frames or pages, they are more like viewports. Objects on canvas can belong to many artboards at once, and currently there is now way to have layers IN artboards — while Figma is built with this in mind.

An error occurred while saving the comment Nitin, please check the Effect > Document Raster Effects Settings dialog.
How large is the chosen resolution? If you work with the screen-intent in mind, 72 ppi is what you should pick to generate the blur.
Next, check the 'Add' value. Illustrator does not calculate the required bound for the shape automatically (I have no idea why and even made a request for it: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/46538296). Please increase this value manually to avoid cropping.
Finally, the problem with dropping the appearance on canvas on changing the opacity seems to be caused by the recent live preview changes. The developer is notified, thanks.

This is due the 'Fill new pencil strokes' option in the Pencil Tool Options dialog — it forces the new paths drawn with the pencil to drop their fills, even though the New Art Has Basic Appearance option may suggest both will be preserved.
An error occurred while saving the comment David, please check if you have the option 'Fill new pencil strokes' enabled in the Pencil Tool Options dialog (hit Enter while having the Pencil active or double-click the tool’s icon to open it).
This is really an interesting clash of options... originally, this option prevents the Pencil from having open paths filled, but it also applies to closed paths and directly contradicts the New Art Basic Appearance routine...
What do you think can be improved in this situation, to avoid problems like this and others? -

Can you please share a test .EPS files with both the shape and the piece of text? Ideally the same one you have printed. Plus having the original .ai fil might be useful. Dina, it’s close, but not completely the same, as I understand it.
Imagine this situation: I want to 'drop' a circle into this pit in the shape below.
Distribute command we have will deal with the boundaries of the objects, not the actual curves.
And in the end of this GIF animation I show what the real intention is probably behind this request.
More of it — now both Align and distribute align closest edges: right edge to the right edge in case of Align Right for example. What about aligning to the other side? Like a left edge to the right edge? The second attached GIF demoes the difference. For now to achieve the result in the end you’d have to drag the circle to the left of the square, key the square and use the Distribute horizontal with 0 value, while instead we could have just used Alt + Align Left, for example.
A script that can do this exists, AlignEx — https://github.com/alexander-ladygin/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/alignEx.jsx
...but it can’t work with a key object, since Illustrator does not allow scripts to use it (and there is a request to change that: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/45706231)
