An error occurred while saving the comment Even though both Ai and Ps have 'layers', they are treated rather differently.
What Photoshop has stored in Layers, Ai has in Object and Select (since Ai doesn’t have pixel-based selections).
So there is almost nothing to put into separate menu... Some few unique commands are accessible only from the Layers panel’s flyout menu, and some wish to be able to assign hotkeys to then (like the 'Locate' command, asked here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/34798945) — but again, moving other commands, like Lock and Hide, would be a gigantic change. Thousands of tutorials would expire, many workflows affected, muscle memory trashed...Ai and Ps are deceptively similar. I personally am sure that pushing them into a each other would harm more than help.
However, this in an interesting idea... let’s see if others like it. -

A current 'workaround' is to disable Transform Tools option in Preferences > Smart Guides. This removes the 'uniform' guide, making the smart guides less useful, but it stops it from jittering.
An error occurred while saving the comment Disabling Transform Tools in Preferences > Smart Guides does make it go away, but it’s a mere workaround

An error occurred while saving the comment Erwin, does the older trick to workaround it work for you — to toggle Construction Guides in Preferences: Smart Guides?
An error occurred while saving the comment Here is the demo
An error occurred while saving the comment Yes.
It is very similar to this now solved problem:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/36247978-constrain-shift-key-doesn-t-work-with-smart-guid
And it is caused by the merely same problem — a Smart Guides option, this time it’s Transform Tools' fault. Disable this option as a workaround. An error occurred while saving the comment Jay, I can’t reproduce it :(
Can you share the file, please? At least the part of it that gives the bug. -

Hi,
Thank you for reporting the issue. However, we are unable to reproduce it on our end. To help us investigate further, could you kindly provide the following:
- The AI file where the issue occurs.
- A short screen recording demonstrating the problem.
This will enable us to analyze and address the issue more effectively.
Warm regards,
Aishwarya G Gadodia

An error occurred while saving the comment Oh, I see. Thank you! I am familiar with this behavior, but I was sure it got fixed in one of Betas.
Will redirect this to a proper team.
Can you please share full specs of you computer? CPU, OS, GPU, etc?An error occurred while saving the comment UserVoice seems to be having strict rules on attachments... Perhaps you can upload a video on some file hosting?
Another way would be sending it over to sharewithai@adobe.com, but I am not sure on the file size limit this dedicated inbox has. Please give it a try. In this case, reference this report’s link for tracking: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/48747341An error occurred while saving the comment Can you please record a short video to demonstrate the issue and share your full OS specs, including GPU details?

If this issue still happens for you, please share a PNG image that Ai fail to place. You can do this directly in the comment or send it over to sharewithai@adobe.com if you are not allowed to share it publicly.
There is a separate report on failing specifically with 1-bit PNGs you can upvote also, if it’s your case.
An error occurred while saving the comment @hofmann-kinzl christian, I really don’t have Place problems with any of PNGs I place daily, except for 1-bit ones (reported separately).
That’s why I asked if anyone who reported this still have this problem. Some issues are far more older than this one, and it surely does not mean they shouldn’t get fixed.
You reported 1 problem, I reported 141. I don’t try to compete with anything here, either time or quantity... Fast response is always good, but if one can’t provide an example PNG that fails (and nobody in this topic did it so far) — the issue won’t get solved, and this is the only thing I care about — making Ai better, since I use it 10 hours a day.
So... do YOU still have the problem? -

An error occurred while saving the comment New Beta Build 28.8.0.43 (available in CCD) now allows Gradient Detection.
You can control the strength of gradient detection through the 'Gradient' slider in Image Trace panel. Having the slider to the extreme left ('None') will trace the image without detecting gradients. Gradually moving the slider to the right will adjust Image Trace sensitivity towards detecting gradients.
There are some known limitations right now which we are going to fix in future builds:
— Transparency support in CMYK images is going under some overhaul to fix issues and might give unexpected colors in background.
— Ignore Color functionality does not work when gradients are detected. Please give this feature a try and share your feedback in comments.

This most probably happens because of the 'Select and Unlock objects on canvas' option being enabled in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display section.
It allows to 'select' and unlock all or chosen objects directly on canvas. If you wish to have this option split into two — one for unlock widgets and one for having an ability to 'select' locked objects — please upvote a corresponding feature request here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48753221
An error occurred while saving the comment Here is a report about not being able to use Layers > Locate for these 'selected' locked objects, since they are not truly selected:

http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/45363040An error occurred while saving the comment Mara, I’ve create a new feature request and already added you to as a voter there, based on your comment below.
Here is the link to it: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48753221An error occurred while saving the comment Yep, it’s a known problem with the option. The name is 'SELECT and Unlock', so it means these will get selected when clicked... 'selecting' several locked object allows then to right-click and choose Unlock > All in Selection, or a specific object even.
So it’s either this functionality or click-to-select-under :/But perhaps this can be split into two options, one for having unlock widgets and another one (dependent on the parent option) — to allow selection.
Do you see any problems with this idea?An error occurred while saving the comment Mara, I suspect you have 'Select and Unlock objects on canvas' option enabled in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display section.
Do you? When it’s disabled, Illustrator allows to select object behind locked one just fine.
Please check and comment back.

An error occurred while saving the comment Yes, no highlighting happens, making it a guessing game. And since it’s not live anyway, there is no reason to update it only after click is released.
There is also a general request to allow the tool to work in the 'loaded' mode, like InD does (as an option): http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32194615

An error occurred while saving the comment Figured out the details and confirm the bug.
Indeed, importing a PDF with only RGB spots and no process colors used on canvas makes Illustrator treat the document as a CMYK one.
Even though a PDF can have any combination of any swatches used, Ai has to guess a color mode when importing them, since it does not allow mixed color spaces, and have to choose one. In this case it guesses wrong. It also gives a 'missing CMYK profile' warning (if warnings are enabled in Color Settings). The title is corrected to reflect the problem.
An error occurred while saving the comment Reinko, I think would require the original file you have, along with the PDF Preset you use in Format settings in Export For Screens (or at least a screenshot of the Output section, to see what Color Conversion and Destination are picked).
Right now, when I place an attached PDF into an InDesign document, I don’t notice anything strange. The spot color swatches the link has are correctly displayed as RGB Spots...
I feel very confused with this report.
You say 'an RGB PDF file'.... but a PDF file can include both CMYK and RGB elements just fine... CorelDRAW can write these, for example, and files are valid. It’s Illustrator who requires to have either CMYK or RGB when importing a PDF. InDesign doesn’t say anywhere a linked PDF is 'RGB' or 'CMYK' as well.
Unless you use a preset that forces a conversion to the color space of the .ai document, ant this CAN convert RGB spots into CMYK, if you manually change the destination...So please help me to understand it better.
Provide the full steps, the original .ai file, show all the screenshots, screenshots, etc. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Shivani, if it’s still a problem for you, — please share a test file and screenshots that have this problem.
Actually, Illustrator allows this today, but not as requested.
The last selected point is considered to be a 'key' point, and all points selected previously will be aligned to this key point, using normal Align commands, like the attached image shows.
This won’t be possible if you select all of the points of an object — in this case Ai will treat it as a whole object and not a collection of selected points.
You might want also to upvote a request to highlight the key point: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/43801218
