An error occurred while saving the comment Lucy, cropping a live link is something we really can’t have in Ai — but we can clip it. And if you embed an image to Ai — it allows to physically crop it, removing the excessive pixels.
But what do you exactly mean by 'cropping a layer'? Why 'layer', and not an artboard, or an artwork? And which exactly workaround with Transform you are referring to? Can you please elaborate on this, and maybe provide some images to clarify the request? -

A configuration modification has fixed this problem. It may take up to 24 hours for your Illustrator to show the changes resulting from this update.
An error occurred while saving the comment The issue should get fixed automatically (if not already).
If you still experience it, you can try to force Illustrator to update the configuration, you can locate and delete the '.runConfig' file. On Windows it is located somewhere in 'C:\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 27 Settings\[locale]\x64\' folder. To go to the folder, you might be required to allow to show hidden and protected folders — on Windows it’s in Explorer’s View > Hidden Items checkmark.
You can use the OS search to find the file by its name. I feel it is save to delete all of them at once — I did that, and deleted all of them, including '.runConfigRobin'. After the relaunch Illustrator rebuilt the file and the problem with the guides stopped for me.An error occurred while saving the comment Can confirm this on Windows in the PR 27.5

An error occurred while saving the comment A workaround for this would be to hold Cmd/Ctrl key, which forces Illustrator to use the 'Snap to cursor's position' mode. This way the label will be displayed near the cursor.
This does not mean the request is not valid though — Ai should be aware of the viewport frames and to not display the labels too far away. Voted. An error occurred while saving the comment Both videos are now attached to the original request
An error occurred while saving the comment Alas, the file is missing :(
If it gets dropped at UV, maybe some sort of external hosting can help?AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Andreas, can you please record a short video with a simple test graphics to demonstrate the problem to the team?

An error occurred while saving the comment Is this still a problem for you with the latest versions of Ai?
What does the developer say about the compatibility of their software with newer versions of Illustrator?
Usually it’s the third-party developers who are responsible for making their apps works with Ai, because it’s their products, and there are so many of them. -

An error occurred while saving the comment How should this differ from the current approach, when you hit the Edit Toolbar button and have all the tools at once? Only with an ability to 'lock' this panel in a way?
And why don’t you make your own giant tool panel, using all the tools? Sure, it’s an effort, to drag them all one by one... -

An error occurred while saving the comment I confirm that.
The workaround I use is to create a rectangle instead (it snaps to a vertical smart guide just fine with Shift held) and use Object > Artboards > Convert to Artboards command (I have it assigned to a hotkey)
But if artboards just worked — I’d perhaps used the dedicated tool, yeah. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Actually Photoshop does allow to convert a selection, made with any of its tools, to a vector path. But it’s Photoshop, a dedicated editor for raster images. This is not a task for Illustrator, and its Magic Wand is designed to work with vector objects.
Why don’t you do this task in Photoshop? Please reply! -

An error occurred while saving the comment Only if there would be added as option, because a lot of people use center now.
Hotkey is good.
Settings for default position inside Symbols palettes is a good request too.
But not changing defaults! -

An error occurred while saving the comment Even MeshTormentor, the mighty free plugin to deal with meshes in Illustrator, does not have this. It can though allow you to cut and merge meshes together as you need. Perhaps you can ask the developer to add this functionality, since it feels like Ai team won’t be able to address meshes at all for a long time...
However, I’d like to see some screenshot to illustrate this case here as well. -

Spencer, does it happen only when you hit the N key on your keyboard, or does it happen also when you click the tool icon in the panel? or vice versa?
