An error occurred while saving the comment Yep, I confirm.
Despite the claim, https://twitter.com/nnandkeo/status/1464100673142738946, it actually does not allow to select tools that are already in the current toolbar, as a sub-tool or a top one. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Both are correct ^_^
See, the top one shows the dimensions of the live shape, the width and height of the rectangle.
The bottom one shows the dimensions of the path... but with the weight of the stroke accounted, because you have Use Preview Bounds option turned ON in Preferences > General. So the measured size of the path with its stroke is 1pt larger than the size of the live rectangle shape. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Actually, I believe this had been fixed.
Let’s test it:
1. Create a rectangle
2. Copy it four times
3. Select them all and group
4. Open Layers
5. Keep one normal, lock the other one, hide next, and hide+lock the last one
6. Try to select a group on canvas (by clicking the unlocked rectangle, or with a marquee, or using Select All command)
7. Move it or rotate it — it does for me
8. Unlock All, Unhide All — all rectangles got moved and rotated too.
9. Undo to step 6
10. In Layers target the group (either way, by clicking target or selection marker next to it) — now you have only one first rectangle selected and only it. without its locked-hidden siblingsSo it works. However, it is broken when you are in isolation mode... but this is a different story and has a separate report:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/44577894-select-all-in-an-isolated-group-selects-and-allows
Vote there! As for this one — should it be closed?
Does it work now for everybody?
Please reply. An error occurred while saving the comment No, Glenn, this is a different thing, for artboards. The OP says about groups that are locked and/or hidden within other groups.

An error occurred while saving the comment Correct.
Also I remember seeing similar problem elsewhere, with local redraw... for something else than area type. Can’t remember now.

An error occurred while saving the comment You mean make it more stable in the desktop version, or add one for the iPad?
If the former, then please explain and demonstrate when and how it does fail for you. -

Hi All,
Thanks for reporting a crash you faced in Illustrator.
Based on your report, Illustrator is crashing when you are trying to edit a graph.
Can you please help us with a sample AI file and steps you follow to get this crash? It would help if you could share a sample video of the crash as well. This will help us to reproduce it in-house and fix it.
With Best Regards,
Aishwarya G Gadodia

An error occurred while saving the comment Weird. I wonder what goes apart with what here...
What does your Color Settings in Ai say? Can you give a screenshot?
And did you try to globally sync all Adobe’s apps’ color settings in Bridge app? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Does not happen for me on Windows.
There must me a difference in our setups.
Please tell more — is the panel docked? grouped? free-floating?
How do you place a link? by dragging? with a context menu?
Record a video of you trying, if it is reproducible for you. -

What are you trying to do? What happens when you try to do it? What you expect it to do instead?

An error occurred while saving the comment Gisela, it’s not very clear what is exactly happening form the video.
You should capture the video from a screen directly next time, using an app. Some more info needed.
Can you please check:
1. What are the current options for the Eyedropper tool? Double click the tool icon in the tool panel, or hit Enter while the tool is active to show the dialogue. Does it by any chance have both Appearance options checked in both columns? It should not matter though...
2. Are you sure you click the line precise enough? It’s easy to miss the line and grab the white from the background within a very small tolerance... and the cursor does not differ from background or object, sadly.
3. Is the appearance of the dashed stroke is simple enough? One stroke, above the no-color fill, no extra stuff? Can you check it the Appearance panel?
It could be just a mis-click ...or something wrong, depending on answers.

An error occurred while saving the comment Angie, it’s a workaround, but not the solution.
Most of the time I need those links, it’s just I don’t want to update them **yet**. After I am done with edits, I am OK with getting them updated ...but Ai should not bother me with that question all over again if I choose not to and don’t make any changes to a linked file!An error occurred while saving the comment Yes, it started to behave like this for me too.

Marc, can you share such a file? Without one it’s hard to test it.
