This is not how it behaves for me when I test it.
I try Flip Horizontally from the Transform panel’s menu, I try Reflect tool, I try Repeat > Mirror, Transform effect, Free Transform tool... each of these correctly change the direction as well!
Can you show exactly how do you do it, on video?

There’s a workaround, I think — to select all and create an artboard that fits all in canvas... but yeah, this is an extra step.

@myrlo, do you use any clipboard managers?
Do you have Clipboard History enabled?
In Illustrator’s Preferences > Clipboard Handling, do you have 'Include SVG Code' option enabled?
Does it help to disable the managers / history / option (if installed / enabled)?

Can’t reproduce this in 30.1 on Windows.
I use very similar settings (and I assume Round Corners is an effect applied to the rectangle, correct?), but it looks as expected...
Please take a look at the document and the screenshot attached. Does it look the same when you open it in your Ai?
Can you share your file, if this only happens within it?

This is a known problem and it’s not new, sadly...
To workaround it, please disable the 'Transform Tools' option in Preferences > Smart Guides (or just disable Smart Guides, if you can).

Karsten, it’s not only the Warp effect, it works like this for any effect.
I test Offset Path, Transform, Rectangle... they all behave like this.

Disabling the Preview doesn’t remove or disable the effect — it just stops updating it while we change the values. It’s 'preview changes'.
It made essential sense in past years, with weaker machines, when calculating an effect in real-time was an effort... makes less today.

I agree that it differs from some other commands, true...
E.g., if we choose Object > Path > Offset Path command and disable Preview there — we won’t see the offset line at all — and that’s because this is basically a filter, creating something new.
At the same time, disabling Preview in the Blend Options dialog with a blend selected won’t remove blending at all. Again, it’s 'preview changes', a comparison with the previous state of the object.

    Does it make sense?

AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) commented  ·

So what would this Preview option actually do?
    1. It should preview only the changes made with the current session of the effect editing
    2. It should hide the effect completely (equals to hiding the effect in the stack, removing its influence)

Can you check this one? Does it work aby better than it used to?
There is a general problem about disabling Preview for effects (http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/38970259), but when I check Warp effects specifically — these do change for me. Do these for you?

An error occurred while saving the comment
AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) commented  ·

Well, it works, but only to display changes...
It does NOT work, if you want to hide a newly applied shadow.
    Is it correct?

    Interesting...
According to the help page at https://helpx.adobe.com/se/illustrator/desktop/manage-objects/edit-objects/offset-duplicate-objects.html it should be 'Objekt > Bana > Förskjutning'... but the screenshot provided displays the 'Skapa yttekontur' command in the place where 'Offset Path' should be.
What does this 'Skapa yttekontur' do?

Behaves broken for me when I check in 29.7.1.
When I change the Composer to Adobe Single-line in the Paragraph panel’s flyout menu, it starts to work fine.
Can you try to toggle this option in 29.5, please, to verify this is a recent break and not just an inconsistency between the builds you have?

Can you please share a simple test file that works fin in 29.5, but fails to get rendered in 29.6 and above, with the fonts used packaged (if these are not default ones)? It’s hard to say what’s wrong... When I try to replicate, it behaves fine for me.

    A very much related report:
Can't add Anchor Point to front object

I can reproduce it using the test file by Glafira from below and following their steps.

If I try to replicate it with Pen tool (with Auto Add/Delete option turned on Preferences) and not Delete Anchor Point Tool, the issue does not resurface. So it might be the subtool’s only problem.

Upon checking the artwork form the file I found that the points have slightly different coordinates... but even after fixing them, Delete Anchor Point Tool still prefers the path that is under the selected one!

I tried to replicate the issue from the ground (see AI document attached). I found that in my case the tool prefers bottom object at high zoom levels, but works as expected on lower ones — as the GIF below shows. No problems with the plain Pen tool.

There is another related problem with selections / points / deletion I want to add here.
If I want to delete the point below, I naively select the bottom path and the specific point even, hinting the tool I want to prefer it instead of the point above. Both tools ignore my preferred selection and delete top point instead, as the other GIF shows.

    There are two related reports:
    1. The one you reported in April of 2025 — Selecting a path no longer helps to select its anchor below another anchor above from an unselected path, http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/49702187 — now fixed
    2. An older report from 2020 — Delete Anchor Point tool prefers bottom object instead of the selected one, http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/39785275 — a very familiar one!

I confirm this. Used to work as expected (I’m checking CC 2017).
Now the Pen tool prioritizes the endpoint instead of the selected object.

Adam, actually, the existing free Rescale script by Sergey Osokin does exactly this:
https://ais.sergosokin.ru/item/rescale/ (don’t mind the Russian language, the script is international)
If a line is placed on top of the selection, the script uses its length to rescale the selection.
Please comment back if it works for you.

Mind though that scripts can’t handle opacity masks :(
There the existing report about this, but you seem to have it upvoted already :)

    I totally get the problem.
Even though the rectangle is a live shape, once used as clipping path, it looses the shape controls in Transform panel (and other places), and there is no way to set a Rectangle Width of the clipping group. So much for the integration...
I use a workaround and rotate the image first, using Smart Guides (or a plugin lately). Then the task collapses into the previous one. Rotating image back is doable with many ways.

    Agree, this is time consuming.
A dedicated scaling tool seems to be a better solution indeed.

AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) commented  ·

Adam, actually there is a method just like what you describe.
The only difference is that it has to be a rectangle (the height doesn’t matter, it just has to be a non-zero width or height).

You create a rectangle over your image, on top of the section you know the size of.
You select both the image and the rectangle.
You clip the image into it, by Ctrl+7 (or Object > Clipping Mask > Make).
You enter the new width you need for this (or height), and press Ctrl+Enter to temporarily constrain width and height (or not, if you have this lock enabled already).
You unclip it and delete the rectangle.
Now you image has the right dimensions for this section you had visible in the clipping rectangle.

That is draw a rectangle around your truck, clip, scale proportionally to 250 inches wide, unclip — no it is 250 inches wide :)
    Simple as that.
Does it cover your request? If not — why? Please comment back.

Meanwhile, I can offer a workaround.
Instead of placing the PDF, try to open it. Illustrator would offer to choose pages, and if you keep the 'Import DF pages as links for optimal performance' option checked, you’ll get these pages linked, to move them into the actual document you needed them within.
But sure I agree that the Import Options dialog on Place should just allow this too.

Well, so far we can import the range of PDF’s pages into a new document, as linked or embedded objects, and then drag-n-drop them into the document we want them to be placed in.
Two steps instead of one, but it works. Does it for you?

    Cris, thanks! This helps.
When I try to place your "bleed_test2.ai", I can see the improper scaling of the displayed content, like you showed in the screenshot... but if I try to recreate this from scratch or resave your file in my 30.1 version on Windows 10, it starts behaving as expected when placed.
Here’s the resaved file and the screenshot of the settings I use when resaved it.
    What settings do you use?

An error occurred while saving the comment
AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) commented  ·

Not sure I can replicate it. What options (when enabling 'Show Import Options' option in Place dialog) do you set when placing a file with a bleed set (.ai with 'Crete PDF Compatible File' enabled, I presume?) into an .indd doc? Crop to what? All variants but Art and Trim should include the bleed set. When I try (with any of others), the .ai file created with 30.1 placed into InD 2026 is not shifted like you show...

Please check the attached files and the screenshots attached. Does it behave differently?
Does it happen with any file (including one created anew) or only a particular one?
