I wonder if it happens with any text and any font at all... It seems to be a rare problem, and I can’t reproduce it for now. Can you share some more details about this? Can you reproduce it within a completely new doc?
As a workaround I can only advise to use the dedicated Character panel for now.

The best way to do it today I know about is this awesome free script:

Danuta, there is a script you can use on a selection of text objects, to force it to become a sequence of numbers derived from the first number is the first text object (by the order in Layers panel). I use all the time!

Just remove it to .jsx file (UV does not allow scripts files attached directly) and drop it in Illustrator with a selection of text objects.

Until some solution is implemented, use great 'Fixing Sequential Numbers' script. I guess you'll be able to figure how it can help you, with a 15 years of practice.

Oh... When I try this, having a compound path made of squares in a checkered pattern, the first option when I call for 'Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Warp...' is Arc, the first item in the dropdown list. When I change presets, they replace each other, not getting applied over existing one!
    Super weird.
    Can you reproduce it again?

Please do. If you happen to find docs that reliably lead to this problem, please send them over to sharewithai@adobe.com (and also mention the link to this report then, https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/51427546)

Woah, this is odd! Can’t make it happen...
Marina, can you reproduce this in a brand new document?
Is your doc is made in RGB or CMYK mode? What exact setting do you use when you try to export a PNG (a screenshot would suffice)?
If this happens in one file only, please File > Package it and share it with the team, so they can try it at their side.

The added button is good, but also is just terribly positioned.
Here, I hovered over each Align button to mark the hit areas.
Why isn’t it in the middle? Why does its hitbox cover the next one, Align Top?
Why aren’t these carefully redistributed, like the second mockup image shows?

Why not in the Control also?
Why not in Properties? (ah, right, there’s not enough space, because the Align To is a dropdown button there instead of three buttons).
Why not in the top menu?

Why does the action recorded with this command have a blank name, compared to existing ones?

I know two workflows to make this happen.

    First.
    1. Enable smart guides
    2. Grab the intersection of the rulers (the zero point) and drag it over the center of your object (assuming there is one, you can enable it in Attributes panel with Show Center), or to a chosen point on canvas. If your pattern is built with its center in the center of its module, this should effectively center the module in the object.
    3. Cut the shape
    4. Reset coordinates (or return them to their original position in cases you were not using the default zero). Make sure you have Transform Pattern Tiles option enabled in Preferences!
    5. Paste the object
Now you have the pattern centered.
    Just watch the GIF.

    Second.
Use a free script instead — Reset Pattern.jsx by Toshiyuki Takahashi (gau)
    Download it from here: https://github.com/gau/reset-pattern

Nope, there isn’t a setting for this. Looks like a bug, never heard of it.
John-Paul, can you try to install Ai Beta (available form CCD, installs next to the general build) to see if this behaves the same way? 29.8.7 is not the most fresh one, so it’s important to know if the latest one suffers from this too.
And just to be sure — your OS scaling is set to 100%, as well as the one in Ai’s Preferences?

Ibrahim, there are general problems with making raster images too small — they stop being selected.
I see the size of the image is just 1cm... I don’t see the effective resolution of this image (you never select it directly or show the Link Info section in the Links panel), but I’d assume is gigantic. Is is a JPEG? How large it is in pixels?

Joshua, a similar bug was reported internally and then quickly fixed (June 10th).
I’m testing it with the file that had this problem with 29.6.1 build and it doesn’t happen anymore...

    What version are you using?
If it’s 29.6.1 too, please make a copy of your document with nothing but the image in question in it, package it and send it (or the link to the cloud storage, if the result is too heave for emailing it) to sharewithai@adobe.com. I now can confirm it, but can’t find the exact scenario to make this happen.
Toggling the option I mentioned doesn’t make it fixed.
I noticed it is somehow related to zoom level, but was not able to find logic.
Cesar, does it happen constantly for you? Only for linked or embedded images, or aby at all? Does restarting Ai help? Any detail goes!

Cesar, can you please check Preferences > Object & Anchor Selection, Object Selection by Path Only — it should be unchecked if you want to be able to select objects by their fill and images 'by pixels' (and it’s usually is disabled).
Please comment back if it’s the case (or not).

Damian, does it happen in this file only or any file gets affected, including a new one?
If only one — can you share it?
Also, can you please make a short recording of how exactly does it look, both with the object visible on canvas and the panel?

Exactly. When blended objects overlap like this, Ai skips the spine creation. There are 4 cases when Ai drops this, discovered by users, explained in this great video by Monika Gausse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpREi93sZeU

    To quote her, these are:
    1. If there are at least three paths selected, and at least one of them is an open, unstroked, unfilled path, and at least two of them are not, then the open unpainted path is used as an initial spine and the other objects are moved onto it.
    2. If the bounding box of the anchor points of each object encloses the bounding box of the anchor points of all the objects above it in the stacking order, then no spine path is created. (This is the ‘nested objects’ case.)
    3. If the intersection of the bounding boxes of the anchor points of all the objects contains the center points of all the objects. (This is the ‘nearly concentric objects’ case.)
    4. If all of the objects are open paths.

At the moment Ai offers no options to control the spine creation forcefully, or restore (and actually properly delete) a spine.
And it looks like a spine currently is required to allow easing — something that shouldn’t be.

Thanks for the report, I notified the team about this.
