    Oh, I get you.
The thing is that some apps steal hotkeys even when not in focus.
Especially it often happens for Microsoft apps, because of their deeper integration into the OS (and Microsoft bluntness).
Skype will still Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D when it’s launched (which is Transform Each in Ai by default), and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L is told to launch LinkedIn in Windows 11.

You are in Windows 10 though... I checked the combination and it works for me, and launches Presentation mode.
Perhaps some other app steals it for you.
Try to close them one by one, using Task Manager if needed, to figure out which does.

There are also some utilities that allow to display used hotkey for tall the apps... but the last time I used it, it make my machine freeze.

BTW I still can’t use Ctrl+Shift+0 (zero) for Expand... both in Ai and Ps (for another command). So I really mean I understand it.

Interesting... I know this sometimes happens with the recovered files, when Ai fails to restore embedded images.
Can you provide more details? What do you do, in what order specifically? Does it happen often? Is there an image that does this all the times you try to unembed it?
Where do you save one, how do you get it in Ai in the firsts place, etc.

Alisha, what about the latest released version? Does it behave the same? Can you check it at your side, please, if possible?

Guides in Illustrator don’t behave like guides in InDesign. Guide in Ai are basically objects with a 'guide' flag (and any path can be turned into a guide, and not loose it’s attributes like stroke and fill even, they are kept when the guide is released).
A standard guide dragged from a ruler is not infinite, but is having a maximum artboard size: 2^14 points = 16383 (when counted from zero), which is almost 227 inches or 5776 mm...
When we drag a guide, Ai will ignore it moving outside of the canvas, keeping it within it.
But if you copy and paste a guide, selected with other objects... well, AI then HAS to respect its coordinates — and if a guide falls to far, the message is given.

This is hardly fair and clear.
And several entries here at UserVoice ask to review guides:
    1. Make guides to be like in InDesign: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/37211029
    2. Automatically push guides to a single layer: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/36594571
    3. But the opposite is true. At some point Illustrator stopped treating selected guides as objects when scaling a selection with the bounding box, and some users find it very inconvenient: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/32888611

It’d help to see the whole layout and details of the operation you are trying to perform.
    Hope it helps. Please reply.

Aha, thanks for the clarification. I haven’t tried Moho and only watched some juicy condensed videos on how it works.
Well, hiding portions of a path is something we can do too, using Live Paint... but not with a Variable Width applied, only basic attributes hold on the elements of it.
As far as I remember, there were some explorations on the ...in-path editing, with multiple caps and joints per stroke (also requested here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/39306955 and here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/39038368), partial styling... not integrated deeply into Appearance though. So there are chances to get something like this.

Meanwhile I encourage you to explore AG Utilities effects. These are paid, but they worth it.
Here I demonstrate the result of me using several effects combined to imitate the effect you are after.

Oh, I like it. It reminds me of the quite new Extend Path effect by Astute Graphics... but here you control it on canvas (like their tool with the same name does), and it keeps the variable stroke applied visually unchanged (something no effect can do, as far as I know — but it needs clarification).
Can you tell which app did you use to record it? I can’t recognize it, and the cursor seems only partially familiar.

Do you mean Point Type text, or Area Type, or Type on Path?
Do you still see the text in Outline mode?
Does it happen for all fonts or a specific one?
Can you please provide some screenshot of the issue?
What are the specs of your OS, which GPU do you use?
Please provide as much details as possible.

    How often does it happen?
    How long are these freezes?
Can you say it happens during some operations only? or it’s rather random?
What version are you using? Can you tell if it started to work like this from a specific version?

This is regulated by the size of the art processes and the precision value (measured in absolute values) one can edit in Pathfinder Options.

Although vector paths stay continuous no matter how deep you zoom in, they are still stored on a canvas with rather finite coordinates, and all calculations are still very finite.

    Glad it helped!
Yes, that’s a thing with vectors. They are rather simple to understand and intuitive to use. However, they are still stored on canvas with a finite resolution, and the app has to juggle numbers. The precision is high enough in general, but not in all the cases.
Still, I noticed some other apps learned to make Pathfinder operations in a somewhat smarter way. That is, actually less precision, but more along the result most expect to get. Tricky to balance. That’s what options are for :)

Marianna, it all depends on the chosen size and precision.
How large are these shapes? You can scale them up, add, and scale back to workaround this.
Secondly, you can go to Pathfinder panel’s menu, call Pathfinder Options, and change the Precision.
Finally, pathfinder operations are all both very precise and not really. They are based on math and not the way we see curves. The better way (I use myself) to make these behave as I want them to is to cut the older segment and connecting the remainder with a new one. I understand this can hardly be a definitive explanation, but...
Can you share this test file maybe, so that I can look into it, to be sure this is the case?

However, the issue does not happen in Ai Beta, so there is a chance the next release will have it fixed.
    Thanks for reporting it!

CJ, we have a way to assign out own shortcuts to change the case (for the commands available in Type > Change Case).
Just go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts and assign those you want. Or did you do that already?

As for the BIU — well, 51 users needed that. Plus BIU are hidden and don’t offense anybody. Who cares about similarities with Word if it has something useful we can use in Ai? Hardly an insult :)

InDesign uses Ctrl+Shift+B and Ctrl+Shift+I for these.
In Illustrator these are also taken by, Toggle Bounding Box and Toggle Perspective Grid... but changing these seems less harmful than taking away Paste in Back and Spellchecking.
    What do you think?

In case you wonder — Corel Draw has it for years. And almost literally every tool has too.

Everybody got used to it, I know.
And there are way more font weights and styles than Bold and Italics, sure, especially in slow but inevitable advance of whatever-you-slide-your-sliders fonts..
And some fonts prefer to display as separate entities in font families list, instead of being one family and several styles (sure Ai should merge them!)

But sometimes it is so much faster to press Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I while editing....
Unfortunately Ai don’t know what it is. It Pastes in Back and Checks Spelling instead.

I think you should add these, and use them only when user is in text edit mode.
You should allow users to customize these too.

Strange, it behaves like if the name is too long to be fitted within the on-canvas artboard’s width.
But the name is just '120×240cm', correct?

Yeah, that’s a nice workaround, and the one with an extra artboard is good as well — but because the numbering of artboards always increments, I avoid it.
BTW, if you want to upvote this problem, you can do it here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/32403832-add-ability-to-rebind-artboard-names-to-their-numb

Yeah... unfortunately, artboards are not exactly objects, unlike frames in Figma. The model Illustrator uses is to keep them in their own modality, and we can’t select both the objects on canvas and the artboards.
The reasoning behind this is valid though.

James, can you record a short demo on this behavior?
Also — what are you scaling options, for the OS and Ai itself?
Does the behavior match to the one described by Marc Edwards in this article? — https://bjango.com/articles/designtoolcanvashandles/
