Dear users,
You can now see a new 'save selection' button on the layers panel which enables to select multiple objects and save it for later use. Please try it out in BETA and let us know your feedback.

This would be invaluable when selecting pieces of art that are in intricate proximate to other items where it's not practical to use the selection or direct selection too. Also valuable for using Warp features with items on multiple layers.

We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 24.0.1
Now your files created in 23.1.1 or prior will retain layer color when opened in 24.0.1Please refer to our knowledge base FAQ – https://illustrator.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1844590 if you face difficulty in update.
Or get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.htmlThanks

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedI reverted back to 23.1.1. There was nothing worth keeping in v 24.

As you probably know, Illustrator today allows to change this behavior with a dedicated option in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display section.
However, it’s not that accessible, especially when you are already move and copy your artboards.
If you wish this option to be more exposed, consider upvoting this request: Display Move Locked and Hidden Artwork with Artboard option in Control panel and Properties while using Artboard tool / mode
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedGreat.. I needed to copy artboards WITH locked layers now I have to unlock them and re-lock them. As the OP noted, this should be an option that WE can control.
It is VERY common to need to duplicate a locked layer. Some of us have locked layers because we have items we want on every page but don't want to accidentally select or alter the items.

Hi Everyone, This feature has been available since August 2020 release (version 24.3). Please update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html Thank you for all the feedback.
You can now select multiple layers in Layers panel. Click the bars (they get highlighted blue) if you want to operate layers and not their content (e.g. to drag to reorder) or click their markers to select their content — circle (target ones) or square (selection ones) next to them. There is no real difference which to pick, but if you want to select a range of layers, using Shift, use target markers.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedPlease give us the option to remove all the Asian and Arabic fonts from the font menu - Most of us using western alphabets never use them! Why should they clutter our font menu?

Hi Egor (OP here) I see what you're saying and I can see a limited benefit, but that just adds to the workflow (in my case). I work with files the may have hundreds of elements, and I need to be able to grab an element that may be intricately position around other elements that get in the way of the selection tools. It'd be nice just to click on the group and move/resize quickly and easily. As many great improvements that we've got in the last 10 years, I'm really surprised this wasn't one of them. But I will say I was not aware of save selection (more like never really thought to explore it) - I'm sure I'll be able to incorporate that in it's own way.
