Please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience. Please get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.
An error occurred while saving the comment ertru commentedOn iMac here, upgraded to ADobes recommenden 23.01 "fix" and now I can't do anything.
"Recovered" files do not even open, an all is greyed out - went back to 22 too to get anything done.
Didn't matter what I was doing, it started crashing even on simple things: textbox, a simple line - and then suddenly - nothing works.Bugs me so much they've marked this problem as "Completed" here on another thread addressing the same problem.

iMac Retina 4K 21,5 inch Late 2015
Mojave 10.14.1Installed v 22.1 as second version so I get to do something.
PLEASE fix Adobe.
An error occurred while saving the comment ertru commentedHey Ashutosh there is no new updates to get, even though I sesach for new updates.
My system has all needed stats and running mojave-this is starting to get critical here npw.
Every time I try to open an ai file everything is greyed out an I have to force quit the app.
This is not "completed" as I see it when we as paying customers do not even get the update.
Please fix urgently as it seems reading through many threads and comments on this that it has no difference what iOS you use as this seems to affects so many on different systems.

Hi Everyone,
This has been completed, and has available since June 2020 release (version 24.2)
Please go to Illustrator preferences > General > and select “Show/Hide Rulers” (refer attached screenshot). After checking this, if you hit ‘Show Rulers (Ctrl/Cmd + R)’, then the rulers will appear in every document (new and old), even after relaunching Illustrator.
Please update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback.

An error occurred while saving the comment ertru commentedThis centainly needs to happen. I've tried every trick to "fix" this on my Ai but every.single.time I open a new doc on Ai it once again is by default ... as points.
Adobe could for example develop the Preferences so that users could select their own preferences for the various alternatives we have-Web, Print etc. And the easiest way would be if this could be set in the General preferences.

Happy to announce that we have introduced 'Preview Missing Fonts' functionality to improve your experience when working with files that contain unavailable fonts.
If you open a file with missing fonts, Illustrator will now render the text correctly on the artboard in Preview Mode, even if the fonts are not installed on your system. This ensures the files appear as intended without requiring immediate font installation.
How does it work?
1. When you open a file with missing fonts, the Missing Fonts Window will appear, listing fonts that are in Preview Only Mode.
2. Close the Missing Fonts Window to view the text rendered accurately on the artboard.
3. You can optionally select the text, go to Objects -> Expand… to convert the text to outlines.
4. The text in Preview Mode is not editable. If you attempt to edit the text in Preview Mode, a warning will appear, notifying…

The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
PDF is now available as type in File > Export > Export As dialog.
However, File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, similar to one InDesign has, to allow even quicker export, is absent still.
If you want to have it, please upvote this new request here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48670088
