This is really annoying. It works when copying text from InDesign and pasting it into Illustrator, but not the other way around.

Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce that the Snap to Tangent feature is now available in BETA (starting with version 30.0).
To use it, simply create a line with the Line Tool or Pen Tool and drag it toward the curve you want it to be tangent to. Once aligned, a “Tangent” label will appear.
Along with tangential snapping, we’re also introducing Snap to Perpendicular, which makes it easy to draw lines that are perfectly perpendicular to existing straight lines.
Both Snap to Tangent and Snap to Perpendicular are enabled by default. If you prefer not to use them, you can disable them anytime in Preferences > Smart Guides > Geometric Guides.
Please try out the features and let us know what you think!

It should not be limited to only per document! There are cases when you need to show multiple scales in one document, so "per Layer" and "per Document." It should also support custom scales and imperial architectural (fractional) scales, not just metric. In addition, it would be great to have a scale calculator in case you do not know the original scale but have a reference dimension. If we ask for this feature, let's account for all potential users!

Illustrator should support both ways: 1) global scale for the whole Document, and 2) assigned for each Layer. There are scenarios when you work only with one scale, so not to complicate the process, a global scale is handy. Let's say you have an elevation of the building, and you need to create a mural on one of the walls. You select one scale for the whole Document, and that's it. There are scenarios when you need to work with multiple scales in the same Document; in this case, scales assigned to each Layer are helpful. Say you need to show the mural on the whole building elevation and show the enlarged mural right next to it. !!!!!!!!ALSO!!!!!!!!! Scales should not be adjusted only when creating a New Document. This should be flexible and editable at any time. CADTools came up with a brilliant solution that has worked for decades for so many people. Use the same logic but make it a native feature. As collateral, this will make the new native Dimension tool usable.

It wouldn't hurt to add more smoothing steps, but I believe the issue isn't solely due to the lack of smoothing. Perhaps 'Preserve sharp corners' should also be included.
I second this request. It is not intuitive when you select both anchor points of a two-point path and can't align them. There has to be a way to control this.
