The latest Beta build 29.0.0.9 now allows us to create a gradient from selected swatches, using two ways:
- Select swatches you need (use Cmd/Ctrl to select several) and drag-n-drop them onto the gradient strip in Gradient panel.
- Select swatches you need and choose the new 'Gradient from Swatches Selection' command from the Swatches panel’s flyout menu.
In both cases new gradient stops will be spread uniformly, using the current order of swatches in the panel (not the order of selection).
If you have artwork selected in the document while doing this, the gradient will be automatically applied to it.
Please try the feature and comment back.

The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
PDF is now available as type in File > Export > Export As dialog.
However, File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, similar to one InDesign has, to allow even quicker export, is absent still.
If you want to have it, please upvote this new request here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48670088

The team has encountered several issues with this feature. It requires them to change the basic algorithms and it is going to take them more time than anticipated.
While it still works in Beta 28.8.0.7, the next Beta build will have Inside/Outside aligned strokes for open paths disabled. The Beta is scheduled to be live on 7th of August.
Once this is ready to be enabled back, the team will update the status.

An error occurred while saving the comment Kevin Prutzman commentedThis is a suggestion for the "Separations Preview" panel in Adobe Illustrator. Please add a "Spot Color" box to turn all the spot colors on or off in one click. (Like you have in your Adobe Acrobat "Output Preview" panel or with the CMYK box in Illustrator.) Having to deal with a lot of spot colors in a file becomes very time consuming having to click off and on all the spot colors one color at a time.

You can do it for a single color. Open the Recolor Artwork dialog (full one), then limit the color to a desired Pantone palette, by pressing the button at the bottom that says ‘None’ and choosing the book you need.

We are excited to announce that this feature is now available in BETA (starting V 29.1.28).
The new 'Generate color info' helps you share color information with others.
To use this, just select the colors from the swatch panel and click on 'generate color info' in the menu options.
You can customise the size, layout, color codes etc.
PS : Currently we only support CMYK values but other color codes such as RGB, HSB, spot vs process colors are in pipeline and we will ship them shortly.
Please try out this feature and let us know what you think!
Thanks
Saurav

An error occurred while saving the comment Kevin Prutzman commentedThis is already in Illustrator.
Shift+Cmd+M will give you the Transform tool. Then you just type in the distance you want to step. (horizontally and/or vertically)
Though it would be nice if you could enter in a field how many times you want it to step. :)

It's because once you save the Illustrator file as a PDF, you are now in essence working your saved PDF file in Illustrator. NOT your Illustrator file that you began with before saving it as the PDF. Does that help in making sense for the reason why it does it?
I guess the solution here would be...when you save as a PDF the PDF saves to wherever you want to save it, but your Illustrator file stay open in Illustrator. Not the PDF that you saved your Illustrator file to for another file.
