Thanks for reporting this issue. Illustrator team really appreciate this.
We have fixed this bug in our Beta Builds available on CCD. Please try and provide your feedback.
The fix will be pushed in the next stable release.
The current workaround is to disable Missing Glyph Protection option in Preferences > Type.
Thanks and regards

If you use variables, create/import a bunch and then you decide to change a font for a text block involved in datasets - you are scrwd:
- change a block font settings
- switch to another dataset
- switch dataset back (or a third one no matter)
you have the initial font in this text block back. And this is really bad.
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrii commentedCreate a text object (area/not area - does not matter). Chose font you want to use (say Font1, bold) and type. Select object afterwards, and set new font for it (say Font2, regular). Text will change it's appearance (as expected). Then select entire text using type tool and then delete it. In this empty text object type a new text. it will appear with Font1 bold style (Font2, regular expected).
Please see screencast attached.Noticed in the latest version 29.1. Not sure about 29.0.
It may happen and may not. More often it happens. I cant clearly say what exactly triggers this behavior.

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrii commentedJust made face to face tests 29 / 28. It turned out they do the same. It seems Trim is the mode I was talking about, not Media or Crop
My apologies.
Yes, the ticket can be closed

temporary rolled back to v 28.7.3 due to another bug (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/49111304-font-changes-from-the-current-one-to-the-previousl)
As expected: when set to "Media"placed artwork includes selected artboard (including empty areas) only.An error occurred while saving the comment Andrii commentedHere we go.
See, Art respects objects only. The page has actually larger height than on screenshotAn error occurred while saving the comment Andrii commentedUhm... Now I'm really confused.
I use placement really a lot in my workflow. And there is a little chance that I haven't noticed this before. And i clearly remember it has always been following:
- Media (or Crop, not sure as for now) for the entire page w/o bleeds.
- Bleed: for page + bleed
- Bounding box if I need all objects and don't care about page.
I can't even remember I ever used Art option.I can open some old files, but there is no way to find out the placement option used for linked files.
Is it only me?
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrii commentedEgor,
sure. see screenshotsActually, you get the same result no matter what is set in 'Crop to'

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.0.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Hi,
Thanks for the information provided to the Illustrator team.
We are able to reproduce this issue at our end and the engineering team is currently isolating this issue further to get to the root cause. With Best Regards,
Illustrator TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Andrii commentedSorry for your guys who had no luck fixing it by my solution. I've just shared my experience. Besides, I've faced this issue before (It was about 2 years ago I guess) and that was about Chrome/Adobe as well. So this time I've just tried and got lucky.
As a guess, maybe it is not about Chrome exactly. Maybe it is about some specific web page and technology used on them and may appear while using Safari or Opers as well. Just a guess.
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrii commentedToday all of a sudden I've got this issue. Restarting the Ilustrator did not help, BUT restarting the Chrome browser had magically resolved the problem.
Catalina 10.15.1.
Hope it'll help someoneAndrii supported this idea · -

The recently announced change pushed into Beta 28.6.578 refers to this similar request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/35253820
The users can now use save custom presets within the Saved tab in the New Document dialog (modern one, not the legacy one). Please provide the dedicated feedback there.
As for the ability to change the existing predefined sizes for each document profile (Print, Web, etc,), like A1, A5, etc, — this is not yet available. Stay tuned and sorry for the misfire.
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrii commentedWhile Adobe does not add new templates I use the following workaround:
Create a new document with desired dimensions (once) -> Save as template -> somwhere_you_like/(MY_TEMPLATE.ait) -> move this file to /Applications/Adobe Illustrator XX/Cool Extras/en_GB <or your_language>/Templates/Blank Templates/ (requires password).
Then Illustrator -> New File From Template (shift-command-N) and voilà.
Just curious. Any plans to push this fix in stable version?
