Line snapping to existing line overlapping it
Currently you can snap an anchor point onto a path or other anchor point. I would like to move a straight path/line, or rotate it, and have it snap onto an existing straight paths angle...right now I’m going into Ctrl+Y view to try and align the two lines but its tedious especially when doing this a lot in my design work...

Line extension pop up tool tip
Please fix the smart guide's line extension tool tip when moving points if you are zoomed in. It currently snaps to the opposite end of the line, meaning if you are zoomed in (which you almost have to be because the tool is so finnicky to get it to snap correctly), you have no idea if you are extending the line correctly. A good fix would be to put that dialog closer to the point, if not on the point you are dragging out to extend, vs. the opposite end of the line.

Make Knife tool work with smart guides
Knife is a very freehand tool, but you can make straight cuts, if you hold Alt. Cool. But you can't position these cuts precisely! Nor with a smart guides (at least!) or Snap to grid.
Please improve it!77 votesWith the release of V29.0, Knife tool now supports smartguide.
Please try out this functionality and let us what you think!

Disable Snap to Path
Can someone please explain to me why you can turn off "snap to grid", "snap to pixel", and "snap to point" off, but you can't turn "snap to path" off. It used to be you could just easily turn off "snap", which would turn all forms of snap off. Now, when I'm trying to adjust points on a path, the anchor handles still snap to path. The only way to get it to not snap to path is to zoom very close in. This is problematic when you can't see your entire curve, because you're zoomed in, and you can't…

Just turn it off and Ai won’t snap handles to paths. -
When snapping to a point please take edges of object into consideration
"When snapping to a point, the snapping alignment depends on the position of the pointer, not the edges of the dragged object." -- A. Illustrator
...but if I could put my pointer exactly where I need it in order to get the edge of an object exactly on the margin, what's the point of the snap to feature? That is a pain in the butt. And really hard to do. I need the option of snapping the edges of the object to the margin. Spart guides do not help.

Ability to toggle snap on/off while moving individual points
I want snap to be on almost all the time. I only need it off to move a point or two.
I would like a single key to hold down that would turn off snap while I move that single point.13 votes -
Turn off Snap to Pixel by default for RGB documents
I don't know why this suddenly appeared as a default, but there should be a way to ALWAYS turn off Snap-to-pixel. I have to turn it off every time I open a new file.

Allow Artboards to snap to the grid
I'm working on a heavily modular layout and the modules are snapping to the grid nicely. However when duplicating the artboard, the artboard will not snap to the grid.
This therefore throws the modules slightly off the grid as the Artboard position has to be matched by eye.
I've also downloaded and tried the CC 2019 pre-release and it still does not allow snapping of artboards to the grid.
Please fix this, thanks.
26 votesI am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.3.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Isometric (triangular) grid
Please give us the option to display an isometric grid. Currently you always have to build one from scratch wich can be very tiring ...
Given the fact that isometric drawings have gained quite some popularity and you see them rather often on websites, it would be nice to have better tools to create these graphics, among them a proper grid.
Gravit Designer already has such an option:

Smart Guides limited to current artboard
An option to have Smart Guides only snap to things that are actually on the current artboard.
It's annoying to be working on an empty artboard and have everything snap to things far off the screen on some other artboards. That can be pretty annoying.

Make (Anchor Points) Pixel Perfect /Snap points to grid
I appreciate the Make Pixel Perfect command... when it works. It does what one would expect when applied to a simple ellipse, rectangle, or etc, but for many complex shapes it simply fails with "Selected art cannot be made pixel perfect."
When I attempt Make Pixel Perfect on a more complex shape, I'm looking for one of two things:
- I want to round the x, y, width and height of the whole path to the nearest whole-pixel values, or
- I want to round the x and y of every anchor point along the path to the nearest whole-pixel values.

Please make center of circles to show up when I drag anything inside of them to snap to
Windows 10 PC, Illustrator CC:
I'm trying to connect lines to the centers of circles, since this program has a problem snapping to center points of circles, I need to highlight a circle and hold ctrl to get the center of the circle to show up. Many times I try this there is simply no center point showing which doesn't make any sense. Please have all circles center points appear once you are dragging inside the circle in the work area. It would be nice if they snapped to the center as well.

Tangent Constraint or Advanced snapping system
I work in Illustrator all the time and I ask my self why or how can I snap a line or a shape to the tangent of another shape like Autodesk AutoCAD's "Tangent Constraint", some say that I can start with the Line Segment tool and go from there building the shape, but this option will give me a limited movement and it's not practical like if we have a tangent constraint in Illustrator so we can build logos and shapes more easier and that will make illustrator go to perfection more and more.

Smart Guides HUD says 'Interect', when snapping to the Center of the Artboard
Since the introduction of Smart Guides, the info given when snapping to the center of the Artboard is incorrect. It says 'Intersect' in stead of 'Center'. This is confusing. We want to know if it is the Center we're snapping to.

Flow chart connectors
Basic flow chart connectors- making either end of a path object stick to the edge, middle or corner of another object surely isn't that hard programmatically for your coders? Leave it to us to sort out where the paths go if you like but this functionality seems pretty basic (and universally demanded) for the Illustrator user.

Make Perspective grid tool work with smart guides
I can't set proper perspective grid without controls of grid snapping to specific points in my art.
Setting this up is ridiculous .
There is no 'Preview' tick in 'Define grid' dialogue.
You can't symmetrically stretch symmetrical one-point perspective grid.
You can't custom drag vanishing lines.
You just can't set is precisely.I have to build everything manually.

Ability to tag anchor points as PRIORITY anchor points.
When snapping objects together it is often the case that lots of other things want to put themselves forward as the thing that wants to grab your snapping choice. If I could create shapes (for example) and select an anchor point and mark it as a priority anchor, it would override other suggestions. That way I can quickly and accurately snap one object to another with no ambiguity.

Better Smart Guides
Can you guys PLEASE make 'Smart Guides' better? For example, I work with product UI/Graphics and I'm always having to zoom in 1400% to clearly align and place objects on top of other objects, but the snapping is NOT GOOD AT ALL... Can you guys make things snap to each other like other programs are able to do so like CAD programs etc...

Can't place the anchor point at the spot I want
Anchor point keeps on placing at the spot I do not want. If I click on the canvas to place an anchor point, it places distances away from where I wish to place.
1 voteMost probably caused by having the Snap to Grid option enabled (or other snapping options) in View menu

Improve snapping strength
Currently, there is a "snap to point" feature in illustrator. However, I find that it works poorly. Often, I create guides, create geometric shapes on those guides, and move them overlap, join, or intersect to make new shapes. Currently, when I create a shape, I notice the shape will snap to a guide, but when I zoom in all the way, it will not be exact. Also, when I try to move two shapes together, I will experience the snapping effect, but it often is not lined up when I zoom in.
Is it possible to improve the snapping to…
