1. Distortion tool like the feature in Photoshop

   Could you please add a distortion feature in Illustrator, such as the one in Photoshop, for clipping mask objects and linked images? I know that Illustrator already has one called 'envelope distort' but I find it difficult to use.

2. The option to select the text on the active artboard and not just the whole document.

   The option to select the text on the active artboard and not just the whole document. Presently I can select all text elements, I can then flatten/outline the text. But... if I need to outline the text on the active artboard, that would save a lot of time.

3. Please add automated color bar, separation color information - Print PDF output

   Hi! I am missing a choice in PDF save or export. In the print industry is needed to add colour information for the customer, what colours is the artwork made from - esp. when we use solid colours. Customers need this for the approval process so we have to add this colour-bar manually. In the PDF (composite PDF) window there are Marks and Bleed choices, but there is missing a choice to choose a colour information automatically generated from the document colours - separations. The colour information can be graphical (squares with separation names) or text based (separation name in that colour).

4. Stretching objects

   A stretch function allows to e.g. move a door in a wall. The door is moved, one wall is enlarged and the other wall is shortened. This is done by drawing a box through the walls and around the door, and then by moving the selection. Object that are completely within the selection are moved. Object that cross the selection box are stretched.

6. Make the "Object Selection By Path Only" and "Scale Strokes" and "Scale Corners" easily available

   Make the "Object Selection By Path Only" a check box in the Control panel. It is something that is very useful and very far tucked away in the preferences and VERY impractical for us to get to every few minutes.
   The same goes for "Scale Strokes" and "Scale Corners" and other options. These should be also accessible with keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys). I have been asking for these for years. I like to know who are the "professionals" that you consult with who don't run into these issues?

7. An option to display the background artwork when using Free Distort effect

   As an example: Effects > Distort & Transform > Free Distort which has a dialogue box where you manipulate the effect but, the preview doesn't show the graphic within the context of your design (attached sample). Because some controls like Free Distort don't have a slider, or mathematical value we can assign, it's very challenging to manipulate the graphic with any contextual accuracy. For this particular effect, and others that have a similar user experience, if there was a live Preview, or a window showing it in context of it's area of the artboard, it would minimize the nudging/adjusting/clicking that has to be done to dial in the accuracy of the effect.

9. Tool nesting groups

   I'm on a laptop. With the nested tools off to my right you can organize them to be in little clusters when you use them. Its great. When you have the three window options for color / gradient / swatches it would be nice to be able to click and drag a swatch onto the tab of one of the nested sets for a second and have it switch to the underlying window. For example, you drag a swatch square onto the gradient tab and then you could drop the swatch color right into the gradient slider. Now, you have to have 2 separate tabs to perform drag and drop. Anyway, the program is awesome and I have loved it for years.

10. Advanced Blend Colors Horizontally / Vertically

    • make it work with compound paths
    • give the user a choice to blend HSB (Blending R and B should give G) e.g. creating a rainbow should be possible with blending colors, but it isn't in the current version.

11. Feedback on Invite to edit Feature (in Beta now)

    In our next feature update as part of cloud documents in Illustrator, we bring to you the “Invite to Edit” feature that is intended to help you share and collaborate with others.

    What is it?
    Collaborate with others with the Invite to Edit feature. Share your cloud document with other collaborators so that they can also edit your document. Find documents that others have shared with you in a new section called “Shared with you” which you can find on the Home Screen. You can also easily take a non-cloud document and convert it into a cloud document in order to take advantage of this collaboration feature.

    Feature details:
    1. To invite another user(s):
    Create or open a cloud document
    Click on the Invite to Edit icon in the app header.
    Type in the email address of the person you want to invite to edit your document. To test this out, please only invite others that currently in the prerelease program; otherwise, they will be unable to access this prerelease experience.
    Optionally, you can also add a message
    Send — an email will now be sent to the recipient(s).

    1. To access documents that are shared with you, go to the ‘Shared with you’ tab from the Illustrator homescreen where you can find all documents that have already been shared with you.

    2. Collaborators cannot edit the document at the same time. Only one user may edit the document at a time or a conflict may occur. If a conflict occurs, a copy of the Cloud document will be generated.

    Please give us your feedback on this feature.

12. 3D Extrude & Bevel shouldn't have a depth and rotation by default

    I think it's annoying that every object that I want to apply a 3d effect to already has a 50 pt extrude depth and axis rotation by default + preview option checked.
    Sometimes it takes forever to render the preview for something I don't even want, but the preview is checked by default so it immidiatly starts rendering when I open the effect window.
    Would be great to open the Extrude & Bevel window with zeros in every field, saves a lot of time, especially when working with complex objects.

13. About Adobe Illustrator Font Microscopic

    The Adobe technician I was IMing asked me to go to "About Adobe Illustrator" to read the version I was using and the font was 2pt font. It will not increase using the "Ctrl +" option either. Please save us from needing thicker glasses and make it an 8 pt font at least.

14. Effects ( fx ) drag and drop

    Just like in Abode Indesign, when you apply an effect to type or object all you have to do is drag & drop the "fx" icon in the appearance bar to the type or object you wish to apply that effect to.

    Adding this same feature will increase productivity when adding multiple effects and create a more cohesive work from program to program.

15. Allow to change color & width of border / edges for artboards (all and active)

    Sometimes when I am using black colour I cant see properly my artboard size so I have work with the guides instead of using the change artboard colour option so it gets annoying. If there were an artboard frame colour option it would be easier to compare my design w.r.t. the artboard

16. your default workspace is completely off point of the tools illustrators need close at hand

    hey, folks, I've been using Illustrator continuously (and intensely) since 1987. Every time I make a transition to a new Mac and load a fresh copy of the Creative Suite, I'm frustrated by the task of rebuilding the essential palette of tools that need to be close at hand in Illy for max productivity — color, stroke, character, align + pathfinder, layers . . . your out-of-the-box defaults have it all wrong. Makes me wonder: do any of you people actually use this product for making stuff in the day to day? And good god, please stop with the scrubby zoom default. Zoom to a marquee is SO much more accurate and efficient!

17. Drag a layer onto the Library panel

    After converting an image to outlines with Image Trace then expanding it I wanted to drag this onto the library... it did not let me.

    I would assume the same functionality as copy and paste into Photoshop when when I drag it on the library it would ask if i want it to be smart object, or bitmap etc..

18. Extend path tool

    I make carpets, and I alway need min. 10 cm extra design for fitting or if the carpet shrinkts in production. For Illustrator artwork, I need to extend all paths, smoothly or naturally outside the border of the design, without changing the existing design.

20. Show Contentpreview in hidden layers

    When you hide a layer, the contentpreview in the little square in the Layers Panel is hidden. Finding a specific layer is terrible when it’s hidden (you only see the layers name).

    That makes absolutely no sense to me and has no benefit that I can think of, to the contrary.

    Please make it at least an option, or just make the Layerpreview always visible. I can see that it’s hidden when I see the eye canceled on the right, no need for more indication that its hidden.
