1. GRID in BACK/FRONT button

   It would be great to have the option of GRID ON BACK and GRID IN FRONT in the Properties panel, for example. near the SHOW GRID button as when working with GRIDS sometimes it's better to have them in front and others in back and for this I have always to get into the Preferences panel so as to activate/deactivate this option and it's really annoying...

I started the project years ago using the French Curve tools that were available in the Adobe Draw app that is no longer available. I need those tools to complete my book project. Drawing pattern drafts require those tools. Please put the French Curve tools back into the tools area for the iPad Adobe Illustrator app to be used with Apple Pencil. I can’t move forward to complete my project goal. Thank you so much!

4. Randomize shape effect

   I would love a tool like "Roughen" that instead gives the shape a randomized, slightly affected path to give a more hand-drawn feel. There is a VERY small window with Roughen, that kind of gives this effect, before it gives a "spiked" appearance, but a tool to specifically randomize a "hand drawn" look would be nice.

5. Scale strokes and effects, hotkey while dragging.

   When using the scale tool, and clicking and dragging, there should be a hotkey that toggles 'scale strokes and effects'. It would be helpful to show this hotkey option as a tooltip that appears near the mouse cursor while dragging.

   All too often I will have to undo, then go into the transform panel or the preferences to check or uncheck the box, then go back and scale the object again.

7. Liquid Page Layout (Artboards)

   I would love a "liquid Layout" feature like InDesign has for more easily converting artwork and pages sizes simultaneously.
   There are many times I create posters on a 11x17 artboard and need to easily reduce the art and page sizes to 5x7 for flyers.
   InDesign has had this feature for a long time and I feel it would definitely be useful to my workflow.

8. Move Blend Mode keyboard shortcuts from the Tools into the Menu Commands section

   If you open Keyboard Shortcuts, make sure you have Tools selected, scroll all the way down, you’ll see all 'Blend Mode - [name of the mode]' commands there — empty, ready to be assigned... but. Opt/Alt cant’ be used for these. Because these are in tooools. Which means these can be bound only to naked keys and Shift+keys. Which are all taken, long time ago!

   So please move Blend Mode keyboard shortcuts from the Tools section into the Menu Commands section, so we can use all possible modifiers for these, and not only Shift.

   Also, why do we even have this limitation? What law forbids me to use, say, Alt+7 for a tool?

9. Illustrator 28 no longer retains editable text fields used in Acrobat.

   The company I work for often sends files that need to be filled out in Acrobat, but the art is edited in Illustrator. In Illustrator 27 there was no issue. I would edit the contents in Illustrator and then open in Acrobat to finish filling out the form. But as the subject line indicates, Illustrator 28 somehow removes these editable text fields set in Acrobat, making the file unusable for our customers.

   This work flow is not our choice, it's a requirement from some of our customers.

10. Improved Layout of Illustrator Options

    Illustrator 2023 (v27)

    This is a proposal to improve the layout of the Illustrator option.

    Illustrator format files contain two different types of data: PGF and PDF data. Currently, Illustrator options have three settings: PGF only, PDF only, and common settings for both PGF and PDF. However, these settings are currently mixed together in the window, making it difficult for users to understand which setting they are operating on.

    To make Illustrator options more easily understandable, we propose organizing the layout and clearly distinguishing each setting. By grouping the setting items and labeling each group clearly, users will be able to easily understand the target of the settings.

    The attached mockup is an example of the proposed improvement.

11. Rotate, scale, skew, transform selected objects separately

    If we make a selection of objects, and then rotate it with a corner marker of the bounding box (or with the Rotate tool), they get rotated all at once, as a single object.
    If we want to rotate all separate objects in the selection separately, the only way to do it is with the Transform Each dialog, with Preview option on, with arrow keys, changing the Angle value. Doable, but not fun.
    What if we get a mode, at least for the Rotate tool (since it’s a special tool for rotating), let’s say, with Ctrl/Cmd held, to rotate object separately?
    Don’t say 'Cmd/Ctrl is taken to temporarily enable a selection tool' — no. It’s taken only before you make a click, and not during the drag, when the mouse key is already down.

12. Appearance Variables

    Imagine I have several drop shadows, with different colors, but same offset and blur values. Now I want to change the horizontal offset for all of them at once. Even if I use styles, it would require me change each style I have manually.
    With Appearance variables though, I could have use something like '%h_shadow' in effects’ values’ fields, in all of these shadows, and set it equal to an actual numerical value in one place.
    So, once I change it, every other shadow will adapt this immediately.

13. Share for Review Proof Approval

    Adding functionality for "Proof Approval" would be huge! And would allow the process to remain within Adobe as opposed to having to go outside Adobe products. Turning on this functionality when needed, allowing for proof to be sent that can be officially approved within AI that:

    a. Doesn't allow the user the ability to download the PDF and steal the artwork.

    b. Sends confirmation that the Proof was Approved or Not Approved with feedback. This can help streamline the approval process ensuring everyone is aware when a proof is sent, and status changes (Pending, Approved, Not Approved, etc.).

    c. Saves the history of approval status and changes, so that the proof approval date, time, and by whom can be seen and referenced. This is for records and potential disputes.

    d. Possibly a "Compress and Convert Images to Raster" option that could allow the person approving the proof to download the proof marked "Approved" for their records. This again protects from clients stealing artwork.

14. Sort menus alphabetically when Cmd+Opt+Shift / Ctrl+Alt+Shift, like in InDesign

    Illustrator has a lot of things put in menus.
    The sorting order in some (like View or Object) can be unobvious for new users (and surely some older ones as well).

    InDesign allows to sort menus temporarily by holding Cmd+Opt+Shift / Ctrl+Alt+Shift while clicking one — make Ai do the same!

    An interesting thing is — helpx.adobe.com does not know about it at all. Another sacred technique :/ Terry White figured it out somewhere, but where did he get it from? ...accidentally?

15. Actions for Image Tracing

    Hi Adobe, PLEASE can you add more detail to the actions. For example, when I run an image trace, I don't just want to rerun the last one as I have different presets. I want to be able to say use the "Outline Fills" Image Trace and expand. Additionally these should be able to be adjusted later by double clicking the action line - like photoshop does

16. Show 'Can’t join a path' message as a soft one

    Modal dialogs are very dated. They grab attention, they interrupt workflows, they yell at you. Most times we don’t need these as loud as they are — a whisper is nice.
    And Ai actually now has these, 'soft' messages, like the one we get when we modify a live shape — 'Shape expanded', at the top of the view, in a gray rectangle. Calm, non-intrusive, with auto-destruction timer. Nice!

    But there are other, legacy warnings and screams.
    The most annoying for me persoanlly is the one I get when I try to join a closed path (just in case, to be sure it is closed), but Ai yells at me — 'you caaaaan't' — with a ding and a message and a text... just show the 'Path is already closed' soft message.

    Perhaps don’t mix all the cases together and display it as a huge page like you do. A user has a compound path within the selection? Tell it, and only if the user really has it. Same for other art types users can’t join.
    I see an educational benefit in having it like this now... but look, if I enable 'don’t show this again' checkmark in this alert box, I won’t be able to see if I should join more or is it just enough.

17. Allow Transform effect applied to an object to transform its the opacity mask also

    If I apply Transform effect to an object with an opacity mask (to move or scale it parametrically, for example), only the object will be transformed — but not the contents of its opacity mask.
    This is not consistent with the destructive method, when you actually move or scale this object...

    The workaround is to apply the same effect to the contents of the opacity mask, but it does not always have the same effect, since the contents can have different bounds, and the transformation points will differ.

    There should be an 'Affect Opacity Mask' option in the Transform effect dialog.

18. Restore pressing Ctrl + Alt + Enter in Transform’s Width and Height fields to constrain proportions AND copy at the same time

    I thought I could explain this feature only with a video. Even though it was difficult and I took risks, I was able to prepare it by finding a portable CS 11 version.

    I want this feature back for Transform Palette. Because they destroyed it or forgot about it or no one knows about it.

    Photoshop効果のぼかしに移動を追加して欲しい。
    これによってグラデーションや透明によるマスクで処理するよりも簡易に出来るようになるし、なによりもテキストの処理に可能性が広がる。

    The feature is added in the latest builds of Illustrator. The development of it is not complete yet, and the team has more plans on making it better for users to help them with their creative projects.
