Add a "move/copy art with artboard" switch to the artboard options, or the main prefs.
Currently the only place the "move/copy art with artboard" switch exists is a button on the Control bar. I have never liked the Control bar and have hidden it since it was first added to Illustrator back in CS3.
In my workflow, I almost never want to move/copy art with artboard, and for some reason this switch constantly turns itself back on, so it's extra annoying to have to either lock all my layers, or dig around this part of the interface I never use.
If I hit return with the Artboard tool selected, I'll bring up the current artboard's options. And in these options there's also a "global' section that would be a perfect place to add this switch so it's quickly accessible in that moment when I perform my regular workflow of "switch to artboard tool, move an artboard, realize I didn't lock every single layer in my file beforehand, swear, undo, lock everything, make the artboard change I wanted, unlock the layers I was working on". A switch there would let me shorten thos to "switch to artboard tool, move an artboard, swear because stuff moved along with it, undo, hit return, turn off move/copy with artboard, stop worrying about this until Illustrator decides to flip this switch on its own again".

Make an option to disable dimensions being live and sticky
PLEASE ensure this is made into an option that can be turned off. We need the dimensions to NOT be live.

Add a basic camera match feature for 3D
Add a basic camera match feature. I'm trying to make some editable type going over a 3d render for a client who uses Illustrator. It was rendered in C4D with Octane so recreating it in Illustrator isn't going to happen. If I could just draw a few axis lines and then have it match this would make my task MUCH easier.

Rotating 3D object should allow users to choose between local and global space
I rotate on the X axis with the gizmo, but the input fields for Y and Z all update. So this is a local rotation gizmo translating to a global space field input? Not really that helpful for the user. Stick to local or give us the option to toggle local or global space.

3D Gizmo needs redesign: rotation feedback and axis color coding
Gizmo needs to have a re-think. Just open any actual 3D app built in the last 20 years for tips. It gives no feedback. I rotate something, and it looks the same. it should orient itself to the object I'm rotating. Color coding each axis would help too.

Please Fix Image Trace
Image trace has been fairly low fidelity since I upgraded from CS5 to CC, but in the last few years especially I've noticed an extreme downturn in the quality of the basic settings for live trace. In previous versions(CS5, CS6) the basic settings were high quality enough to provide good traces of artwork. I used to be able to live trace type without much of an issue if the image was large enough; I don't even do that now because even if it's set at 1500dpi the type will come in with irregular shapes or curves that should be straight/straight lines that should be curves.
There's a website called Vectorizer.ai that without even tweaking the settings provides a much better image trace than what Illustrator is currently capable of, there are also a lot more settings to optimize what you're going for as opposed to presets that don't always make sense to me or to other users I've talked to.
I would love to see this fixed because it's one of the few things in my workflow that has me considering using other products!
Thank you

Please allow us to search for a specific file when we click into the “My Files” tab
Having a search bar would save us a lot of time.
Basically when I want a specific file and I know the name I have to swipe and look thru almost a thousand of my files to find it… if there was a search bar I would be able to type in the project name and access my files in seconds vs 10-15 minutes… I have a lot of projects…2 votes -
Allow to export empty TGA and TIFF
- Windows 10.
- Version 28.0.
- Exporting an empty file to TGA format.
- Illustrator should proceed to "Targa Options" but instead gives a message "Could not write the file because the plug-in made an invalid request of the Photoshop Adapter."
- No attachment needed, just open a new document and try to save it as TGA without adding any contents.
This is an edge case - there are not many cases where you'd want an empty file of a specific resolution, although there are some, and of course in this case you can just make an empty TGA through Photoshop (which I have done). But I figured I'd pass this along anyways since while it is an edge case, it is buggy behaviour nonetheless. Worth the time to fix? Maybe, maybe not.

Offline Tutorials
Tutorials in the new version only work on-line. In older version we could use tutorials off-line as well.
In prison classroom, student (inmate) computers do not have on-line access all the time so they cannot use tutorials. Starting with a tutorial is very helpful to break the ice and give them an overview of the program.
Make tutorials accessible both in Photoshop and illustrator in off-line mode.
We pay the subscription price so we should be able to use the tutorials as well.

Make Smooth command to have the persist/sticky option
I like the new Smooth command and I'm using it frequently enough that it would be nice to have a persist/sticky option for it instead of repeatedly going back to the Object menu.
Also, I find that smoothing of 20% works well for a lot of shapes I'm editing but could the bar be enhanced with a few click-to bars to speed up this process (see attached). Maybe include this for the Simplify command as well.

Increase the precision of illustrator to at least 10 decimal points, fix Place...
Please increase the precision of Illustrator for placing files such as .dwg from other programs. I noticed the shapes change a lot. Or, change the initial size of the placed file to as large as the artboard. I know you have this option when you drag and drop a file, but you do not have this option when you select File-Place...

Add and option for Offset Path command and effect to respect the direction and starting point of the original path
Offset Path makes width and length of a rectangle to swap
When applying Offset Path after making a rectangle, the size of width and length of the rectangle are changed into each other and the rectangle gets rotated 270 degrees even though real shape is not changed.
It seems bug need to be fixed.I attatched gif video and related link.

can we have a Chinese paragraph arrangement function (Hyphenate) in English Illustrator, which is now only available in Chinese illustrator
as a Chinese English Illustrator user, we are more familiar with English Illustrator interface than Chinese, even though we can read Chinese. It will be really convenient for us to have the hyphenate function, which is now only available in Chinese Illustrator, to be also available in English Illustrator, like Hebrew, Arabic, Dutch etc...
2 votesAs per the comment, these are available by enabling the East Asian options in Text Preferences: Kinsoku Set and Mojikumi Set. Please reply if it solves this for you.

Type number of sides for polygon tool and star tool
Currently to get a number of points on a star you have to type the [up key] or [down key] But often I know what number of points or sides I want on the polygon or star.
I'd like the ability to type the number of sides/points.
This could be achieved in a number of ways:
- An option panel (could change it after the fact as long as it is selected as long as the points haven't been moved?)
- hold and drag and type the number (say 3, 6, 9, etc)
- double click on the polygon/star icon on the tools palette which brings up a dialog box Then you can type in things like number of stars and size similar to the Line segment tool. (Also extend this to the rectangle, etc tools?)I'm pretty sure implementation of this probably would be a bit tricky? The number trick for hold and drag for sides 1-9 probably wouldn't be as hard to implement, given that up and down keys are already cued to the number of sides.
The rest of it has some architecture, but probably would take longer to implement.
It's annoying to have to go "I need an octagon, but I just got 9 sides" and then go, "Oh, I need a pentagon...." and then spend a good few minutes trying to magically get the number of sides. And then going, "Oh ****, I'd like to get the octagon again and it would be easier to draw it out than find where my last octagon was..." and then sit there again hoping to get the perfect number of sides.
I'm not saying "eliminate the up and down key" because sometimes people don't know how many sides they need, etc and want that randomness, but I want precision too and sometimes on a new document that's super annoying.
BTW, Scripts don't particularly work on my computer. So please don't recommend scripts.

Increase selection tolerance
The selection tolerance maximum is 8px. My laptop has a 4k screen making 8px less than 1/64 of an inch. It's almost impossible for me to select lines in Illustrator with this small of a tolerance.

Allow Shaper Tool to create stars
Shaper Tool allows to create live rectangles, ellipses, polygons in a freehand manner: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/building-new-shapes-using-shape.html
Recently a new live shape got added into Illustrator — Star.
But Shaper Tool won’t create one if you try to scribble it.
Not sure how popular Shaper Tool is, but it should be able to do it anyway.Original idea by Monika Gause.

Optimization of Rounded Rectangle in Illustrator Effects
When using the Rounded Rectangle of Illustrator Effects, I hope that the upper and lower values can be set separately, because when this effect is applied to text, the upper and lower heights are not even.

Allow the bullet behavior to be turned ON or OFF
I would very much like to have the option to turn the Bullet behavior ON or OFF. - Part of why I use Illustrator as much as I do is that I like to have complete control of my design. I use InDesign in a very limited, specific way, even with book layout, i.e. TOC & pagination. - For example, I'm trying to make headers for a short PDF and I can't add numbers before my headers without loosing control of the styling. They've been gobbled up by the bullet functionality and I can't even change the color. I can't stand the bullet function... I'm going to have to have 2 separate text boxes to make a simple numbered header. And I'm not going to set up a style for a short PDF, it's not worth my time. - I can see that some people want that InDesign bullet behavior in AI.. I'm fine with that, just give me the option to DISABLE the bullet feature - PLEASE!!
