Use Typographer's Quotes should be more accessible
"Use Typographer's Quotes" should be added to the Character palette to make it more easily accessible. Sometimes I'm designing a document that uses typographer's quotes, but most of the time I work with documents that reference dimensions in feet and inches, so I need to be able to switch back and forth between typographer's quotes and straight quotes quickly.
In addition to that, "Use Typographer's Quotes" should be moved from File > Document Setup to Illustrator > Settings > Type to match the way Photoshop and InDesign do it.
The Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign teams (and probably others, but those are the three apps I use the most) should get together and decide if they want to use to word "Settings" or "Preferences" to describe the same thing. Apple recently changed from using "Preferences" to using "Settings", so that's probably the one to use, at least on macOS.

Mark layers/sublayers in the layers panel
We used to be able to easily tell layers and other containers apart in the Layers panel. Layers/sublayers were marked with a darker or lighter background in the Layers panel.
This is important for several functionality that can be applied to groups but not layers and vice versa. Particularly when you deal with complex artwork such as puppets for Character Animator, but not limited to them. And you need it when analyzing other peoples' files.2 votes -
Why can't I save Swatches in L*a*b* format except as Spot Color?
Why can't I save Swatches in Lab* format except as Spot colors?
This is unique to Adobe Illustrator, unfortunately, and such a thorn in the side of a device-independent color management workflow. Please resolve.2 votes -
Menu TYPE no Illustrator
Remove size limitation on playing tutorial videos in the Discovery window
Illustrator allows playing tutorial videos in the Discover panel (Help > Tutorials). However, the size of the video is constrained by the width constraint on the Discovery window. There is no apparent way to enlarge the video big enough to see the detail in the video to follow along with the tutorial. Tutorial videos should be able to be enlarged up to full screen. Many videos only appear to be accessible now through the in-app tutorial.

Ability to see the size of elements in terms of KB/MB to easily find cause of file bloat
When trying to strip down a file, it would be really useful to be able to see which effects in particular are bloating the file. For example - I had a file with a load of boxes with a glow effect applied to them. I thought I had undone all of this but the size of the file was still over 40mb. I had to dig through all the boxes again in the appearence panel to see that there were two instances of a rasterize effect that i'd missed. when i deleted those the file size went down by over 20 mb. If there was an option to view the kb/mb these elements take up that would be really helpful. It's not an issue I've run into before but when having to make 40 files as light as possible to work with a huge indesign document this would speed things up so much

Umlaute

Allow us to set a custom scale instead of having only one 1/10 through Large Canvas
I know there is already a massive discussion around this topic, but I had an idea this morning. The "Large Artboard" that is now available as far as I can tell is not truly a new massive artboard. It's just doing 1:10 scale math for you automatically. I see underneath the hood when using my vinyl cutter for example. A file sent to the cutting software sees everything at 10% size. Another example is when copy/paste from large artboard to a normal board, it will come in at 10% size.
Here's my suggestion: Instead of having a single large artboard option, what if we could just set the scale we need to work within the 227" limit. If I could set my scale to 1:100 then I could build my banners at "full size" but in reality Illustrator is just doing the math for me.I know there is already a massive discussion around this topic, but I had an idea this morning. Ask to update links... for current document
I remember now why I turned off ask user to update links... because it comes up for documents that are open but not being worked on. Can you fix it so it only asks when you go to that document?
Here's an example: I'm working on multiple concepts that are placed as links into a presentation document. Each concept, and the presentation doc are open. When I make a change to one of the concept docs, the dialog box to update the links pops up. 1. it doesn't tell me what document has the updated links. 2. it won't let me go to that document without dismissing it. and 3. it's not the active document that has the updated links.
I hope you can see how ask before updating is sort of broken.

Copy images from the web and paste them directly in Illustrator
Please, guys, let us copy images from the web or our OS and paste them directly into Illustrator as Figma does.
In general...can you look at everything that Figma does when it comes to UX and take inspiration from there? I think there's a lot of room for improvement when it comes to UX in Adobe products :D
Thanks in advance!

Option to turn off the warning about deleting a layer containing artwork
How do I turn off the warning about deleting a layer containing artwork? There's no "don't show again" option in the pop-up. :(
In my line of work I delete layers with artwork constantly and it does take time to click the warning dozens if not hundred times a day. I use Illustrator 27.1.1.2 votes -
Make my palettes static
My palettes are always moving. No matter how much i adjust the size the whole group goes up. and down. Why cant they just stay in the same place? right now my swatches/brushes/symbols palette takes up the whole right side. even though i only have the very basic number of swatches. meanwhile the others are all pushed to the bottom and i have to search for each palette.
Basically I dont want to search for the palette i need. I want it to be on the side where i left it. instead of resizing. I'd rather scroll inside a palettes than have it huge then small.

The default color space should be RGB.
It is 2023, with the changes in printing technologies, Ai should have RGB as the default color space. I know that there are long time users who probably live in cmyk, but aren't best practices to work in RGB and then convert to cmyk for the particular job?

Bigger / resizable text field for artboard names
The size of the text input field for the artboard names is often too short - so when I want to change the last bit of an artboard name (often for a modifier like ...white, ...dark etc.), I have to marquee / hit arrow or end key to get there. That makes renaming more complicated than necessary.

Multi selected Linked files Placement options change (links panel)
Preserve: transforms
Case:
Multiple linked files on artboard. Default Placement option for all files is Preserve: Transforms.
I need to change them for Preserve:File Dimension but must do it file by file,
because after selecting all linked files Placement options are greyed out
and not avaiable for multi use .It would be nice to improve it by letting change Placement options for multi selected files.
I need to change 30000 of them clicking one by one right now. So any help (or bypass idea) to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Artboards panel showing how many artboards are there in total
Artboards panel showing how many artboards are there in total, simply have the artboards total in the bottom left hand corner, currently you have to scroll down or click goto end/last to see how many artboards.

'Position-Lockable' Text Boxes/text
Would it be possible to be able to 'lock' the position of a text box/line of text, but for the text content still be editable? This would be great for templated work, or just to make sure nothing shifts on the artboard to keep consistency.?

Go to last-viewed artboard navigation shortcut
I would love to have a quick shortcut to jump to the last viewed/edited artboard. I often have to jump back and forth between artboards on large documents to compare items, and it would be great (!) to scroll to the place I need to compare, look at the comparison, and then have a single keystroke to jump back to where I just was previously, rather than scrolling all the way back.

Anchor Reduction Brush
Would it be possible to create a brush or an eraser to reduce anchor points with finer control than Path > Simplify? For example, a user wants to clean up a complex path where most of the path is great but part of the path needs anchor reduction. Include the same options of Path > Simplify and allow the brush to scale up and down. When the user brushes over the anchor points, the anchor points are removed. Maybe include an alt key option that toggles the brush functionality between Precise Simplify and Bulk Delete Anchor Point.
