Option to disable 'Recent Fonts' feature.
I hate having to scroll from the top of the fonts list every time i'm searching for a new font. Currently, in preferences there is an option for only 1 recent font, however, i'd like to be able to disable this feature completely.
We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 22.1.
Please refer to our knowledge base FAQ – https://illustrator.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1844590 if you face difficulty in update.
Or get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html

A feature/change that adds to frustration level and takes more time is not moving the application forward. Please, for the love of God and all that is holy, CHANGE THE WAY THE FONT SELECTION WORKS BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE. Thank you for your time.

Agreed! Vey frustrating when I'm attempting to compare fonts. I like to have a handful of options on my pasteboard so I can see which one works best and having to scroll through my list starting at the beginning of the alphabet EVERY TIME is frustrating, cumbersome, annoying, and time consuming!
So many new updates in 2018 are really frustrating. I haven't found a single new update that has improved my workflow since I downloaded 2018.

Oh, please return this to the way it was!!!! This is costing me so much time. I often choose from a font family that I'm using and don't want to have to scroll through 5,000 fonts to find the new font for the second time. This is horrible. Illustrator user since it was Aldus.

I know it now matches the way InDesign works, but change Indesign too!

Yes! It really doesn't make any sense starting up top every time you want to look at another font. I don't mind having that section up top, if you wanted to reference some of your recently used fonts, but hate that it automatically resets your place on the list to the very top every time you go in there. Just a simple step back to the way it was would be amazing! It was so much more intuitive.

give option to select 0 for number of recent fonts to be selected, in order to prevent the user from having to scroll from the beginning of the font list every time. this slows down work flow tremendously.

I also find this incredibly frustrating. Please fix it in the next update.

Totally agree. Previous version was a great workflow to explore fonts alphabetically.
It's fine, Adobe, that you offer new features, but please don't assume that you can take away features that work efficiently and have been in use for years.

In the latest CC version whenever want to change a font, the dropdown menu always start at the top of the list instead of the selected font. It is very inconvenient to go through all my list every time so i can choose another font. This problem did not occur in the 2017 version. FIX IT!!!

Ankit from the Illustrator team, thanks for responding, but we are not wanting to expand the font group/family (light, bold, heavy, etc) we are wanting to continue down the font list from where we left off. I feel like your response was suggesting a solution we are not looking for here.

Hi,
This is under review. This is intended change in Illustrator version 2018 22.0.0 ,meant to be consistent with other adobe application like Indesign.
I would request you to access the other font name instances in the same Font family kindly expand the font group.Regards

100% agree! This needs to be an absolute given on future updates. Its so frustrating having to go all the way to the top of my fonts list every time I want to see how a new font looks.

Yes!!! PLEASE fix this. It's horribly inconvenient. If this was done on purpose, it's just a terrible decision.

This change needs to happen soon. I won't use the new illustrator until it is.

Yes, very-very sneaky and bad decision has been made with this. And again, no option to change it back.
