   Illustrator CC 2017 (up to date) Windows 64bit
   Place a linked file, eg. a jpg
   Add a stroke to the linked file object in the appearance panel
   Try and change the stroke weight.
   Expected a stroke. like any other.

   To have strokes around your linked images, you should do some additional steps:

   1. Apply a stroke (obviously)

   2. Open Appearance panel

   3. Focus the applied stroke attribute

   4. Apply Path > Outline Object effect

   It should be placed 'inside' of the stroke attribute, not the object itself. You can always drag-n-drop it if you missed.

   Why does it work?

   The image does not have a path for a stroke to be applied to. If you aplly the effect to the image directly, its pixel data is replaced by a path around the bounding box. Applied to stroke, it give it 'rails' to be stroked along.

   Not easy to grasp, but once you get it, Appearance panel becomes your best friend.

2. Scatter Brush 'scatter magnitude' slider

   I would like to see a new pair of sliders in the scatter brush options that controls how 'powerful' the scatter is.

   Each instance of the brush image would have its distance from the central path, as defined by the 'scatter' slider(s), multiplied by this value. So if it was at 0%, any effect of the scatter sliders would be completely nullified, if it was at 1000%, the effect of the scatter sliders would be multiplied by ten.

   Essentially, I would like to be able to control how 'wide' a scatter brush is based on my stylus pressure. The existing 'scatter' control just directly maps light pressure to the value of the left slider and full pressure to the one on the right, which results in the brush art being deposited in a line that wiggles around the path. Which is rarely what I want.

   More broadly it would probably be nice to be able to make a scatter brush’s size, spacing, and rotation vary with stylus pressure/tilt/bearing/whatever. Scatter is just the setting I most keenly feel the lack of this with.

3. "Check Spelling" Back or Undo Last Button

   Add a back button or Undo Last button in the "Check Spelling" dialog box. Many times I accidentally skip a word that needs correction and I have to restart "Check Spelling" from the beginning.

   Other times I accidentally pick the wrong correction and have to quit "Check Spelling" undo the fix and restart the process all over again.

4. auto arrange artboards on new

   First, the workspace is Too **** small at this point, especially when working in pixels. And someone out there assumes 72dpi still. Stop it!

   I'm creating 4K artboards to explore some ideas. I create 2 of them. And it won't let me create a 3rd without rearranging. Who's idea was That!?!?

   The first thing you should do is just move the stinkin' workspace. What's with all the room on the left? Look, if you only work left to right, why are you always trying to center the artboards in the workspace? You'll never use the space above or to the left? Come on people, this isn't rocket science. Just figure out how much space you'd like as a buffer (user selected please) and start the first artboard in near the upper left.

   And once you start creating artboards, if you just leave things as the default , once you've got your 4 artboards that fit horizontally (because that's as many 4k boards that you can fit in the workspace) then when I create another one, automatically drop it below artboard1. Don't tell me to rearrange. And I'd actually like a buffer all the way around my artboards, because I may have some items that fall off the artboard. So I may only want to allow 3 artboards wide, and drop the next ones.

   Artboards aren't Just for pages. Some of us use them so we can see design exploration all in one document. The useability here sucks.

   If some software engineer sees this, they shouldn't even be waiting for votes. It's clearly an oversight and it should be fixed. Do the right thing. Just fix it.

5. Could there be a more logical place for show center and path direction than the Attributes panel

   The Attributes panel seems like the junk drawer of panels. Wouldn't the show center check box seem more at home in the transform panel, and the path direction seem better suited for stroke or pathfinder panel. Just one less panel taking up space on the artboard.

6. Circle-tool — subdivision functionality with arrow keys

   As the "Effect > Stylize > Round Edges..." is a little bit flawed if working with short sections and third-party-scripts often show the same problem that short sections rounded often are not a circular section but some weird hyberbole of sorts I often use Circles and subdivisions of those as a stand-in if I need a round corner with a fixed radius. Up to now i have to manually draw a line from the center, rotate it by the angle I want and subdivide it with the knife.
   If circles could behave a bit like the polygon tool and its arrow-key functionality to add more or less anchorpoints that make up the circle instead of the default 4 that would be awesome.

   When I want to use the USGS lithological swatches, I usually have difficulty finding them. Could all these be placed in a top level menu?

8. Enable the ablility to keep swatch catagories in my tool panel.

   I would love to keep tool swatches in my tool panel. I do have the ability to take one and put it off to the side among my tools, but when I restart Illustrator the tab is gone leaving me to conclude this is not a supported feature. I use one particular swatch category a lot and this would save me time.

9. Assets panel multiple selection with just mouse

   I want to use mouse and "Ctrl" to select assets I want to export in Asset Export panel, with a frame / marquee. But I can't do that. Mouse works only as per 1 selection. Yes, I can hold "Ctrl" and click on different assets or use Shift to select some, but that not useful for me. Sometimes I want to select big groups of assets located at the beginning and end of the assets list, so I just want to hold "Ctrl" and play with mouse easily and fast by selecting any items.
   It's like you just holding "Ctrl" and selecting folder with mouse in Finder. So easy and cool. Please add this option!

10. Show slices names

    I'm looking for a simple but very useful option for slices:
    "Show slice name"

    Currently in setting of Illustrator there are only option:
    "Show slice numbers", - file attached.
    But it's doesn't give me anything actually.
    I've created names for each slice and I need to check these names visually, without need to select each slice and goto it slice settings..

    Es wäre wünschenswert, mehrere Zeichenflächen gleichzeitig markieren zu können. Außerdem mehrere ausgewählte zeichenflächen gleichzeitig verschieben zu können oder über das Ausrichten Werkzeug oder Koordinaten organisieren zu können.

12. An option for the pen tool to behave like Photoshop

    As a Photoshop user most of the time, I would find it would be much easier to have bezier curve anchors not delete themselves when closing a path or reselecting a path. It would also be great if nudging points with the arrow keys would not interrupt and unselect the current path.

    Some preference to toggle these behaviors would be fantastic!

13. Smart guides disappear when I switch to the eyedropper tool

    I have had issues in the 2026 version of illustrator. The smart guides disappear when I choose the eyedropper tool.
    After many hours of support with adobe, they found out it was a change that was introduced to the 2026 version, to improve overall application funtionality.
    However my feedback to this, is shared with their engineering team, and they will further review this behavior.

    My hope is that they discard this new change, as the smart guides can be turned off totally, if you do not wish to use them, so I do not understand, why it should disappear on some tools. Working the 2026 version, I now have to activate the smart guides every time I use the eye dropper tool, (which is very often), and then again when choosing another tool, because the smart guides does not active automatically when switching back to a tool, that from the beginning was activated with smart guides. So I have to activate the smart guides all the time now...

14. Artboards panel scrolls too fast when using touchpad / trackpad

    The fact that we have to test our timing when dragging the artboards to organize them in the Artboards panel is silly. I spent a whole minute trying to arrange the artboards for the storyboard with the trackpad. They should make the scrolling animation slower.

15. Bug and unexpected shutdown without saving

    It's been a couple times since unexpected errors happen when I'm working on Illustrator, it shutsdown, and the file doesn't save. This makes me quite mad because since I updated to the new 2026, bugs like this should not be happening but all the way around, happens quite often. On previous versions, when this happened, the files automatically saved but now, it does not.

16. O tutorial da barra de ferramentas fica aparecendo a todo momento, atrapalhando a visualização e o fluxo do meu trabalho

    O tutorial deveria apenas aparecer após a atualização conforme era antes. Agora aparece a todo momento, várias vezes durante o dia, isso atrapalha muito.

    There’s no automated condition Illustrator follows for this, we decide ourselves when to turn these off.

    We can hide these hints by disabling the Show Rich Tool Tips option in the Preferences > General.

17. Default Sort

    Allow users to define what they want to see on the home page, and allow defaults to that definition to be saved. For example, in Version 29, when I open the program, it defaults to "Your Files" and they are sorted by "Name". Whenever I open the program, that's what shows. It's perfect for me. In Version 30, now that doesn't work. It opens to "Recent Files" and then I have to click "your Files" or "View All Files" for that to show. Then I have to click on the sort (because some genius changed the default to in the update) and then click on sort and sort it by name. My workflow is by name of file, and not by time or date modified. It used to work in every single version like this and now it doesn't. Please fix this.

18. Display fonts in a floating panel

    Requesting a feature where fonts can be displayed as a floating panel.

    And

    1- Show the preview of the fonts on the right side inside "Font Selector" panel.

    2- Ability to write the text inside "Font Selector" panel and display that text as a preview.

    3- Following #2, Ability to drag the "custom text" + "desired font" from "Font Selector" panel to the Illustrator artboard

19. OMC Optical Music Recognition

    OMC Optical Music Recognition, where the software will automatically recognize scanned or digital photographs of music sheets and intelligently convert it to Adobe Illustrator Vector Graphics or postscript format so you can change the lyrics font to what ever font you want to use and even use an intelligent music tool to make adjustments and changes to the notes.

    Just as I requested OCR technology in 1990 and it happened and how I told IBM that you should be able to make computers understand what you are saying by analyzing your sound waves of your speech so as to be able to isolate your spoken words because there would be a gap between them so they could isolate words in it and then analyze the digital sound waves for its individual phonetic sound utterances then you should be able to convert that to English words in order to make Speech Dictation Possible. I am making the corporations rich but I remain poor.

20. Cannot copy paste text from Illustrator generated PDF's

    To reproduce the issue:
    Create an Illustrator file
    Create a new text frame, type anything and set font to Stratos (OTF) (as available from Adobe Fonts)
    Export PDF through "Export for screens"
    Trying to copy paste text fails

    The issue occurs more precisely with characters that have glyphnames like uniXXXX.
    Almost all characters in Stratos have uniXXXX names, even though they are present in the
    AGL. So "A" has "uni0041" as glyphname.
    We were under the assumption that uniXXXX glyph names were accepted.
    The issue only seems to occur with .otf fonts.

    See the two attached PDF's for
    251119-Stratos-ttf.pdf will correctly copy all the characters
    251119-Stratos-otf.pdf will copy the characters as " " ( <0x2000> )

    The specifications for AGL say:
    Font producers are strongly encouraged to respect this specification when naming the glyphs for their fonts.
    Generally, multiple names can be mapped to the same string. For example, the components ‘Lcommaaccent’, ‘uni013B’, and ‘u013B’ all map to the string U+013B.
    So they recommend using 'A' as glyph name, but 'uni0041' should also be accepted.
