Please Remove Artboard Limit Entirely!
There appears to be a limit of 1000 artboards on a single canvas in Adobe Illustrator. This is VERY annoying. I frequently have Illustrator files with multiple very small artboards (for iconography). It's absurd that I have all this canvas space and cannot add as many artboards as I want/need.

Transparency Masks should appear in layers panel like Clipping Masks
I like how Clipping Masks show up in the Layers panel as a "<Clip Group>", which you can expand to see the object being used as the mask and the object being masked. However, Transparency Masks do not show up at all in the Layers panel; you have to remember to open up the Transparency panel to see and interact with them. In a document with a mix of Clipping Masks and Transparency Masks, this is really confusing and makes the Transparency Masks easy to forget about. You should make the Transparency Mask show up in the Layers panel like…

Toolbox zoom and hand tool on same tab instead of separate tabs making it slower to select since having to flip back and forth all the time
Previous versions CS6 etc had the toolbox panel better laid out: Hand tool and zoom tools were on a separate tab now CC doesn't give the choice but having them both on a same tab so having to hover, drag etc every time I want to select my favourite tools is really tedious whilst there are many useless tools on the toolbox displayed why changing a feature that worked perfectly in previous versions?
7 votesThe original toolbar with all the tools in classic arrangement is still available as 'Advanced' and can be enabled from Window > Toolbar menu. The currently offered toolbar is called 'Basic' and serves the purpose of making new users fell less overwhelmed with the amount of tools Ai has and display the most popular only.
A questionable decision, but it came with the possibility to make our own customized vertical tool panels. Read more about this here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/tools.html
If you want to have horizontal toolbars (as a separate option, along with 'torn-out' groups), vote here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/38230498-the-illustrator-toolbox-should-be-able-to-display
If you want to be able to add dividers in toolbars (we lost them when customization had been added), vote here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/38097085-add-dividers-to-custom-tools-panel-or-enable-stac#comments

Guides can't be edited in Isolation mode
Literally, you can't isolate a guide, neither with a double clicking or a hotkey. Nothing happens. Please fix this

Possibility for the USER to set the default units when creating a new document
It saves time. In stead of having to adjust this for every new document, it would be a lot better to let users define their own standards, templates and what so ever…

Constrain angle setting doesn't work untuitively, and is rather useless
Right now, when the Constrain Angle setting is at its default value of 0°, you can hold down the Shift key to move an object along the 0°, 45°, 90°, 135°, (etc) axes. This is fine.
But if you change the constrain angle to something else, say 30° (as someone making isometric illustrations would be likely to do), then the set of constrain angles changes to 30°, 75°, 120°, 165°, etc. This is not useful. It would make much more sense for the set of constrain angles for a setting of 30° to be 0°, 30°, 60°, 90°, 120°, 150°,…

Please have customized brushes/swatches save automatically.
It would be nice if custom created brushes were saved automatically so that users do not have to save them after they have created them.

Customisable touch workspace.
Adobe, could we please have a customisable touch workspace? The other workspaces can be altered, why not this one?
It could be a cool idea to be able to add the delete, undo and redo buttons to the sidebar menu in the classic workspace.7 votes -

Remove background/ make background transparent in images
It would be really great if we can provide a feature to remove background and make objects transparent within Illustrator. There are users who import pictures in Illustrator but in order to make the background transparent, they have to use other application and, image trace would be complicated.

Align multiple icons to the center of multiple artboards
I want to align multiple icons to the center of pre-existing artboards. I don't want to have to hand select each icon and align horizontally and vertically to every single artboard.

Easier way to do charts and graphs
PLEASE come up with an EASY and SEAMLESS way to export excel charts into Adobe Illustrator! Please! I have over 153 bar and pie charts I have to create from a pivot table in excel, which is arduous and time consuming. The chart feature in Illustrator is awful and confusing to use as well. I’ve been doing charts the same way for years by copy/pasting from excel into illustrator and having to remove about 10,000 clipping paths. Surely there is something you can that will make it easier to do charts. An extension? Maybe play nice with the @micsrosoft developers?…

Open, import, save, and export .CGM files
Illustrator CC advertises compatibility with the Computer Graphics Metafile (.CGM) format.
While it gives me the option to open a .CGM file, all of the older .CGM files I work with throw an "unknown format" error when I try to open them.
I would also like an option to save .CGM files.
Illustrator should include these features.7 votes -

Option to have Anchor and/or Control Points always visible in Preview and/or Outline modes
Sometimes it would be nice to see the anchor points of other objects, when drawing a new object. It would be nice if you could add an option to the outline mode that would not only show all lines but also every anchor point, no matter if the a path is selected or not.

Export PDF with initial view set (ala InDesign)
You have just added the ability set the initial view on a PDF export in InDesign, and it is a GREAT idea. It saves me a Ton of time as a designer as I always set the initial view to "fit page" and "single page" when saving PDFs. With AI, I still have to do this after the fact by opening the PDF and doing it there and re-saving. Can you please add this option to AI as well? Thanks!

Graph Data Label Decimal Exision
Previous versions of Illustrator's graph data labels matched the decimal points defined in the "Cell Style" field. The current version of CC removes any zeros at the end of the label - e.g. "3.00" is changed to "3", or "4.20" is changed to "4.2".
According to Adobe's Customer Care, this is an intended behaviour - but could it be an optional one? Having to manually append zeros to hundreds of labels is not an appealing prospect.
