Student Discount for one month Free usage of Illustrator CC during Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis
I think it is reasonable that Adobe would consider helping students by providing free access to Adobe Illustrator whose universities have moved to online instruction due to the Coronavirus. It would be a generously kind gesture for Adobe to consider discounting or eliminating the $31. monthly fee during this crisis.
The software is provided in the classroom, and labs are open to students outside the class period for their use. Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education PASSHE stated that our Adobe CC license at Edinboro University does not permit student personal use for Adobe CC products. Some students are taking my entry-level Graphic Design Software Course to fulfill their Art Elective. They are ceramics, wood, sculpture, jewelry/metalsmithing students, as well as non-art majors such as psychology and communications take the course as a Free Elective. So the student annual rate would not apply to many of my students. Most of the students would not need the software other than the three weeks to month we will be away from campus.
Everyone is being effected globally, we can not incure more costs upon these students and their families.
Please help the students!

Have Untitled Illustrator document be reset to number 1
Dear Sir or Madam:
I don't like the way Adobe Illustrator keeps incrementing an Untitled document numbering each time you create a new file. I would rather have Adobe Illustrator Untitled document be set to Untitled-1 document each time I create a new Adobe Illustrator file. Please consider this feature. Thank you very much for your time.

Remove "Move" limitation from Transform Each & Transform Effect
When moving items via "Transform Each", objects are limited to moving 55.555". However, when moving objects with Move (Object - Transform - Move), no such limitation exists (Issue is prevalent in V24.0.1, 23 & CS6)
The same limit exists for Transform Effect.
My request is for the removal of this limitation to allow for accurate artwork creation.Issue is documented and verified here:

Auto number layers
As a graphic designer I often work with Illustrator files that have thousands of layers, these layers are very well organized in folders.
I would like to suggest that Illustrator add a function allowing users like me to auto number every layer. The layer number would be visible on each layer. This would let me quickly identify a layer with a specific number and then return to that layer later if I want to read manipulate the artwork there.
It would also be great if I could, i.e. right click layer XXX and asked to move it above or below layer XXX without having to drag it or copy/paste it. Functions like these would speed up the design process for designers like me that work with in big files =)As a graphic designer I often work with Illustrator files that have thousands of layers, these layers are very well organized in folders.

CorelDRAW-like node behavior: intuitive select/deselect, maintain shape when deleting a node, two-sided handles.
Years ago, the most painful switch from CorelDRAW (10) to Illustrator (5.5, then CC) was the bezier drawing behavior. I have no experience with newer versions of CorelDRAW, but I'm assuming they behave similarly to v10.
1. CorelDRAW required fewer clicks to select, manipulate and deselect nodes and the lines they live on. Also, the switch between the normal and direct selection tools (white and black arrows in AI) could be done without returning to the tools menu.
2. When a node was deleted in CorelDRAW, the software "did the math" and maintained the overall shape (when possible). That's very helpful when you're trying to delete a node in order to smooth something out: you can actually start refining your curve immediately, instead of first having to "fix" the part of the line that collapsed when you deleted that node.
3. All nodes featured double-sided handles for both nodes of a line section, while AI only shows one side. Sure, you can technically make the same modification from either node on that section, but being able to use either side was far more intuitive and ultimately sped up most tasks.Years ago, the most painful switch from CorelDRAW (10) to Illustrator (5.5, then CC) was the bezier drawing behavior. Eyedropper tool to have option to pick gradient settings
If you have a gradient set up with custom rotation and you want to pick it to another object with eyedroper tool, the rotation doesn't transfer.
It would save time not having to type it again.
Maybe add some other options as well to have more control.
It should be an option at the eyedropper tool properties. (See image)

import autocad layers
when importing a file from autocad, regardless of which version its saved as the layers are not preserved and every object appears as a separate item under 1 layer. What a nightmare. I only purchased Illustrator to present our CAD drawings and it cant even do that properly, waste of money. User interface is logicless and not at all intuitive, totally reliant on youtube tutorial videos and web search solutions.

Preferences User Interface UI Scaling: Drop down menu list needs to scale too.
Drop down menu text is too small/light to tell if an item is unavailable (grayed out) I thought if I increased the UI Scaling the dropdown menu items would also appear larger.

Save AI and PDF files in the background
With the latest version of Illustrator CC 2020, we have a feature to save the AI document in the background but there is no way to save the document in the background via script.
Could you please add the same feature for scripting as well.?

Auto spell checker underline and hidden characters should disappear in Trim View
When switching to “Trim View”, grid and lines and bleed and anything outside the artboards disappear, providing a nice preview of the document you’re working on.
However the red zigzag underline of the auto spell checker and the symbols from Show Hidden Characters are not hidden, so that the preview is still cluttered with working tools.
It should probably behave like the Preview mode in InDesign (W) and only shows the artwork.

Improve Symbol Workflows
Today the defaults always persist for new symbols - i.e. if you want your symbols to be Static you need to select this option manually from a dropdown every single time you create a symbol. If the Symbol Options dialog simply remembered the previous choice it would be super helpful.
Today you can drag a linked image into the symbols palette, name your symbol, configure your symbol choices, then click OK - only then is an error shown that 'a symbol definition cannot contain a linked image'. It would be way more helpful to provide this feedback on the drag into the palette, before users name and configure their symbols.

Join Separate paths
If you have lots of separate, exploded lines (say from DWG/DXF import, then you should be able to use an alternative of Ctrl+J to join them back together without them trying to join end to end.
That is to say, if paths are adjacent to each other they are joined. But the ends of non adjacent paths aren't then closed up as well. Really basic idea, but somehow overlooked.
Sure, it's easy to Ctrl+J a few disparate, exploded paths. But for 20+, 50+, it's a joke.

Change conversion of black when going from RGB to CMYK
Please change the default behavior when converting a file from RGB color space to CMYK color space to make RGB black convert to 100% black. Currently and for years, Illustrator converts it to a rich black, with high values in each ink. It's very common to have to take artwork created in RGB and covert it to CMYK for print, and the default conversion for black is never usable. Please make it practical and have 0,0,0, RGB black convert to Cyan 0, Magenta 0, Yellow 0, Black 100.

Saving/Exporting PDF as separate pages
When saving PDFs, can we have same menu and options as when saving Ai files:
- Separate artboards into individual files (using range) (InDesign has it)
- INCLUDE the artboard names with each page
Please, please, please. We've been using Ai as print files for years, because PDF is lacking this6 votes -
Lasso select tool selection lines should be always be visible, even when selecting over black fills.
I often use the lasso select tool and often i am selecting over top of objects that are black filled, and the lasso line is invisible over these black objects.
Conversely, in photoshop, the lasso line is drawn so it always contrasts the colors behind it, so no matter what colors we are selecting over top of, the lasso line is still visible.
Illustrator desperately needs to replicate this functionality from photoshop
