I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.3.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Dear Users,
We have launched this feature in the latest release of Illustrator, 24.2. I request you to try out this feature and give us your feedback.
Thanks,
SanjitAn error occurred while saving the comment Clip Groups From Hell commentedThis is a work-around at best. Knowing how big your artboard is going to be before creating a document is not a real-world scenario. What if the number of artboards increases mid-project, and you no longer have room for them? You have to split your document into two, which is a massive continuity headache.
The biggest signpost for how badly Adobe handles the canvas conceptually, is the paradoxical fact that Ai displays an un-useable area *outside* of the canvas. You can actually draw in this non-space, but you can't move or use anything created there.

An error occurred while saving the comment Clip Groups From Hell commentedAs a user, I don't always care if the content is linked or embedded. Ai could just automatically embed the content when a symbol is made.
However, linked content is better in terms of file management and workflow, and Ai has the awful habit of creating nonsense file-names when un-embedding images.Clip Groups From Hell supported this idea · -

I have the same problem, one WHOLE Ai version later than the one mentioned at the start of this thread.
To recreate:
Create a new file.
Create a text area. Create two paragraphs of text and create paragraph styles for each. Define a "space after paragraph" for one of the paragraph styles.
Duplicate the text area.
Arbitrarily change the space after paragraph value in one of the paragraphs. Don't update the paragraph style.
Use the text tool and select the equivalent paragraph in the duplicated text area.
Inspect the value of the space after paragraph. The value shown is the value of the arbitrary change to the non-updated paragraph, and not the actual space after paragraph value of the selected text.
Unfortunately I have to use Illustrator for layout jobs, working in a new team. Usually I would be usually using InDesign, which is, er, an actual layout app, and not an app for illustrations. But hey. Seeing as a large part of the world uses Ai instead of Id, Ai should be able to accommodate advanced typesetting options in its 24th version.
