Well, technically we can rotate an objects exactly to a value needed, via Properties panel’s Angle field… but it requires calculations, since all these fields allow to enter absolute values only, but not relative ones. That is we can’t add or remove in any way, either using math operators (like in the desktop version), or something in the tablet style, with a switcher to toggle between “replace” and “add” modes (that is absolute and relative).

What is wrong with the current implementation, with dragging end stops of the annotator, available when you edit the fill?

Andreas,, there is a request for an ability to see colors in a selection (not only in a gradient), similar to Figma’s approach:

A nice example with nice workarounds.
Indeed, variable width never really goes to zero and remains drawn as a zero-width collapsed outline.
    But there are workarounds.
Please study the attached file and study the appearance stack for all three objects (and one more bonus solution).
Of course, it does not mean your idea isn't good (on the contrary), and these workarounds are complex enough to use them effortlessly. I merely propose these as a solution to these specific issues you have raised, which can work in some cases.

Andreass, please check the file attached. Does it solve the problem with individual stroke-per-segment for you?

Some things in Illustrator are old and have never been touched since its release — like the info slot at the bottom.
For now we can choose from five options for it:
    Artboard Name
    Current Tool
    Date and Time
    Number of Undos
    Document color profile

Some of these are almost obsolete, some are still relevant, but still it's not that useful. How about these:
    Layer name
    Raster effects resolution
    Snapping statuses (like to grid/point/pixel/glyph)
    Last save date
    etc.

Select All does nothing wrong for me when I try to reproduce it, but Peter provided another way of making this break for me: hide one object with a freeform gradient fill applied, than target/select the parent layer in Layers panel by clicking the dot or a square slot next to it. Upon unhiding the object back, its fill will become white in the chip in any fill selector, and vanish on canvas.

I see the reasoning for that, but I personally doubt it’s technically possible. Hacking into an OS dialog (specifically in Mac’s Finder) is a complicated task and is tough to do because of security reasons imposed by the OS — as much as I know about it.
    But I like it anyway.

We all on the clock :) Thank you for spending some of the time to report the issue. However, I am not able to get Ai 27.2 frozen on loading an .ase swatch library, it gets loaded just fine. Have you tried to load other .ase libraries other than yours? If it’s only these specifics libraries freeze the app — can you please just share them?

As for the meta feedback about the usability of the reporting system — yes, a valid one. I even made a request about this — https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/45951838
You can add your voice here (but as you can see, it’s not exactly a popular request, since 'users are busy' and then don’t care much about improving the system). The reason for having this as it is now is that sometimes Ai freezes completely, and any integrated bug report system becomes useless, since it goes unresponding as well. Also, the Ai’s UV just happened to appear before it got mentioned in the menu.

It takes Ai a while to display the Glyphs panel, but eventually it does that... still it's impossible to use it, since it freezes again.

I understand. Still, it’s a very general request, and there is nothing to grab onto in particular. There are many requests about specific tools for iPad, and you better vote for those you find exactly useful for you. so that the team could prioritize what users really need. Adding these just for the sake of consistency is an utopian scenario, since resources for this are finite.
Converting bitmap to vector exists for iPad, since 2021, it's called Vectorize.
What do you want to change about exporting? Be a bit more specific, please. Same deal for the UI customization — what do you want to customize on iPad and what for? What is the scenario you have which requires it and can benefit from it?

Bernhard, Illustrator has a ton of tools and a lot more options than Affinity Designer (and I can’t say it’s exactly a benefit, really). As for the customizable workspace — it allows some, so one can’t say it has none..
'Better' or 'worse' — it's up to taste, let's talk some facts.
What exactly do you think Illustrator is missing? Give some examples, provide reasons, elaborate, please.

Debbie, the purpose of the Appearance panel is to control the appearance, and not to store the complete graphics styles — that’s what the Graphics Style panel is for. You can build whatever appearance you want and save it as a graphic style for future uses.

And if you want the certain style to be automatically applied for the next shape you create — make sure you uncheck the 'New art has basic appearance' option in the Appearance panel flyout menu. This will ensure the next path gets the appearance form the object you had selected last.

You can also redefine the basic graphic style, by dragging a path with the appearance you want to make the new default with Alt/Opt held over the [Default] item in Graphic Styles — then, when you hit D, the selected art will get this new style instead of ordinary 'black and white' stroke and fill.

Finally, there are many way to create the double line you speak of. Here is the file with just two examples: one uses the transparency and knockout trick, while the other one (with colors) just has a brush.
Both are saved as styles already, and can be modified the way you like them.
Does this suffice? If not — please explain a bit more about the case you have: what do you try to get and why and how does you idea may help you with it?

Arrowheads are considered to be a part of 'complex appearance' of an object. Eyedropper in Illustrator by default is configured in a way it does not pick or apply the complex appearance, but you can change it.
Pick the tool, hit Enter to open its options (or double-click the tool icon in the tool panel), and tick both Appearance options. Now the tool is going to transfer all of the appearance from an object to another.
Be careful though — the behaviour of this 'advanced' eyedropper rather differs from its basic variant, especially when dealing with groups, so keep your eye on the Appearance panel. Don't forget to uncheck these option when you are done with the task.
