An error occurred while saving the comment This is odd :( Something breaks it each time then...
If possible, please locate tour Preferences (<OSDisk>/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator <version number> Settings/<locale> (e.g. en_US)/Adobe Illustrator Prefs), zip it, and either share it here in a comment, or send directly to the team — sharewithai@adobe.com (in this case mention the link to this report, so they can track it back here — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/50444250)An error occurred while saving the comment I remember it happening for other reasons, but also when updating, also with the Home Screen disabled, but only when juggling some plugins...
Sometimes using Window > Workspace > Reset helps, sometimes it also requires relaunching Ai, sometimes I need to resave the workspace. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Jan, you can do it already.
1. Select your objects
2. Call Object > Transform > Transform Each dialog (Cmd + Opt + Shift + D by default)
3. Check Scale Stroke & Effects, uncheck Transform Objects
4. Change Scale values as you wish
This method also changes the scale of the effects though... if you wish to change only strokes, there is a separate request for this — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/43400817
...yes, you commented there (8 years ago!)
While the option indeed is disabled in Scale dialog, it isn’t in Transform Each — and since objects do not get scaled, it doesn’t matter much.AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea ·

An error occurred while saving the comment As for the black border — here’s the request that initiated the change — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/38253112
As the status there now says, the team decided to revert the current look of the active artboard border.
This change should have happened automatically. Are you still seeing is as thick black border? What build are you using? An error occurred while saving the comment Mariam, what was the source of this logo? Was it an SVG? Was it copied from something like Figma?
Can you study the Layers panel, this object in particular — does it have anything odd inside?
There is a core bug report about a similar behavior — https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/45312922
Another similar problem was about having a rogue single point — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/48131336
Is your case similar? Please respond -

An error occurred while saving the comment Steve, if the file is still something you have, does it look anything like this problem — https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/45312922 ?
Or that one — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/48131336 ? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Somewhere in the object you have an object named '<desc4125>'
You can select it in the Layers, but you can’t target it or select there or select it on canvas visually, because it has nothing but the name.Once you delete it, the group becomes a normal alignable group.
The fact it happens is obviously a bug. Thanks for reporting it!
I’ve attached the simplified file to test the bug, with no actual seal, just an ellipse in a group with that 'desc' thing within.

Latest Illustrator builds now remember the chosen file format in the Export As dialog and keeps it between sessions.
An error occurred while saving the comment I think this should be an option, in both dialogs, — 'Remember the last file format' — enabled by default for Export As, and disabled for Save / Save As
An error occurred while saving the comment Interestingly enough, since this change affects both Save and Export dialogs, always remembering the format leads to mistakes for some of us who is used to always have it as .ai...
If you think this option should be exposed — upvote this request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/50078010An error occurred while saving the comment Tyler, yes. Currently Export As format stays sticky in one session across documents opened, but doesn't stay sticky across different app sessions.
The team is evaluating the fix and will let us all know how and when they will ship it.
Thanks for requesting this and don’t hesitate to upvote, request, report more. This helps to drive the app where we all need.An error occurred while saving the comment Not sure if this behavior should be made in an option though... if people prefer PNG, this should stay then if they choose PNG once... I wonder if there can be any benefit in defaulting it I can’t imagine?

An error occurred while saving the comment Do you mind me changing the topic of this request to 'Allow us to choose a preferable file format on Export or keep the last chosen one' then?
An error occurred while saving the comment Steve, Ai allows to assign a custom hotkey to a majority of menu commands, including Export As.
But you mean you want to call for the Export As AND to automatically choose some other filetype, is it correct? -

Hi everyone,
In the latest BETA 30.0.21, we’ve improved the ‘Save As’ workflow.
Now, instead of remembering the last used format, the default will always be .AI.
We made this change to ensure that your files are consistently saved in the native Illustrator format, which is the most reliable option for preserving full editability.
Please try out he changes by downloading the latest BETA from the Creative Cloud and let us know if it helps you or not.

An error occurred while saving the comment Asher, I bet this is a consequential behavior, caused by this request: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47550692
Both dialogs, Export and Save, should behave consistently, and if one remembers the file format (something many requested, here and there), the other one should too.
I think though it makes sense to give us the control over the behavior, right there in the dialog, as a 'Remember the chosen format' option. What do you think about it?An error occurred while saving the comment Illustrator now remembers the last used file format in dialogs like Save and Export, following this request: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47550692
Do you mean that once after you chose .ai, the next time you try to save a document it still stays at .pdf? -

An error occurred while saving the comment You forgot to attach the linked WhatsApp Image 2025-08-29 at 16.26.49.jpeg, but I can confirm this happening, even with the proxy image.
It doesn’t help if the layer has anything else in it but image (this could have explained the behavior, in a sense)...But then I started to dig into the layer structure and it got so much stranger!
So I closed it and tried again. Take a look at the recording attached. Is it something you can repeat at your side? Any idea on what these are?
At the end, after clearing all the explosion that happens, I can move the image into the designated layer without expanding it... and with the surprise object being still locked and hidden. An error occurred while saving the comment Please save a copy of this document, remove all other elements but this element, make sure the bug still happens, and share the document here with the image used, so the team can try to reproduce it.
Having a video with you trying to di it would be helpful as well. Can you recreate this problem in a new document, and/or with another image?

An error occurred while saving the comment I agree with the general notion — every new feature should be an option — but to investigate the failure cases the team would need the actual files and evidence to study.
Please share the documents that get affected and the screenshot of before states and after that show the inconsistency.
You can share them here in a comment if you are OK with them being public, or send to sharewitai@adobe.com (in this case mention the link to this report, please — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/50450139) -

An error occurred while saving the comment I wonder if this is still an issue in today’s builds?
@Hiroshi Ikeda, can you please try to recheck the behavior? The file link is long expired, so I can’t do this myself.
If it does break still — please share it again. Renaming a file from .eps to .txt can also allow you to attach it here. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Please share the document (along with the font files used, via File > Package) and the screenshots of it that demonstrate the issue.
Please share these here in a comment if you are allowed, or send to sharewithai@adobe.com (in this case mention the link to this report, for tracking it back here — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/50444652) -

An error occurred while saving the comment Just in case, I have to ask this — are you sure you don’t have Use Preview Bound option checked in Preferences > General? If yes — do you remember enabling it?

An error occurred while saving the comment Wow! What a strange thing... Amazingly, the same happens in older build as well, like CS6 — and require to have the text in a separate layer, it seems... Replacing text with an object still makes this happen.

An error occurred while saving the comment This is the first time I hear about the tool sampling the mixed text like this! The sampled text applies to the whole selected text object, unless you select a part of it...
I believe you see the difference, but... can you share a test file, please? I try to reproduce this, and I can’t do it with the fonts chosen — see the GIF attached. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Please share the exact setting used to export these — a screenshot of the JPEG Options dialog would be fine.
What Illustrator build are you using? How do you send the file exactly? via the browser, a desktop app, by sending it to you phone somehow else?
Can you share a test image here?
Can you reproduce this problem with any document at all?
Did you start happening with a specific Ai build, or is it the first time you try to poring with these printers?
